Dresden Files
A Different Kind of Magic
Beautiful Alice
Summary: Murphy goes into a bookstore and comes out with some magic of her own.
Murphy rarely got time off to go and just shop for a while.
Today was one of those rare events, and she decided to head to a bookstore. She thought of snagging a few books for Dresden, because he was just as a prolific reader as she was and they sometimes shared the same tastes in books.
She couldn't help but smile when she walked in and the familiar smell of dust, leather, paper, and ink hit her nose.
Books ahd always had a soft place in her heart-they were the one thing you could rely on that could be both helpful and safe.
She grabbed a few books by Stephen King, Mercedes Lackey, Christina Dodd, Johannah Lindsey, Nora Roberts, Dean Koontz, M. C. Beaton, and several others. She found Terry Pratchett at the last minute, and snagged a few by him.
She spent about half an hour and more than she should have on all the books she found.
Even if Dresden couldn't teach her magic, she could at least read about it.
And that, in itself, was worth more than all the books put together.
