A/N: Hello, and welcome to my first one shot! This is a little idea that came to me on a long car journey, so please excuse the some what dullness! Welcome to The Engagement Experiment!
"I can't believe your getting married!" squealed bernadette. Amy had just shared the news of Sheldon's proposal to the group.
"We're not getting married..." Said Sheldon
"How did he do it?" inquired Raj.
"I didn't propose marriage!"
"We were in the cafe where we first met, discussing what would be different if we had never been paired on that website," Amy began. Everybody cooed at such an abnormally romantic thing for Dr Cooper to do.
"How it would affect our careers etcetera," Sheldon interrupted.
"And then he proposed! He gave me his mothers engagement ring-"
"My mother said it would suit Amy!"
"And asked me to stay with him forever more!"
"Aawww!" The collective sigh passed around the room, and caused Sheldon to blush. He wasn't used to this kind of reaction to his gestures.
After everyone began eating again, Sheldon stood up and walked somewhat awkwardly towards the refrigerator. Leonard gestured to Raj and Howard to follow him, and they went over to the newly engaged man. They clapped him on the back, which made Sheldon drop his newly opened bottle of water. It spilled all over the floor, and Howard's incredibly tight trousers. Howard let him off just this once, as the poor man was probably on edge.
"Congrats!" Raj broke the ice.
"I didn't propose marriage to her! You believe me, don't you Leonard?"
"It's not a very you thing to do, but then I never expected the great Dr Cooper to get a girlfriend, and for them to stay together for three years!" Leonard said, with a tinge of regret in his voice. Penny and he had broken up a while ago, and she was dating (of all people) Raj! He had finally overcome his selective mutism, and Penny had been so impressed by his caring nature that she asked him out. They had been together for four months, and coming close to beating Leonard's record.
"So if you didn't propose marriage to her, what happened?" Asked Howard.
"I simply asked Amy if she wished to do an experiment with me," Howard raised his eyebrows and looked at Leonard, who mirrored his expression.
"What kind of experiment?" Leonard asked cautiously.
"An experiment to see how people react to a long standing couple living together, and potentially bearing children. In what way is that proposing marriage?!" Sheldon asked aggressively. And with that, he stormed off to sit with his 'fiancé'.
"I can't believe I'm going to be the person who gets engaged after SHELDON COOPER!" Muttered Leonard, and went back to sitting with the group, the only single left.
A/N: That ending was a bit more depressing than I thought it would be! But what do you think? Is it good? Or is it too detailed for a one shot? Maybe it's to vague? Please review! Doodley Starkid xxxx
