okay, so i'm a newbie to the land of ouat. i've just watched skin deep, and i'm still rolling in my rumbelle feels. just (what i thought was) an adorable little oneshot.

also, mr. gold/rumple's name is robert. because its scottish-y, it begins with an 'r', and i really love that name :3

As Robert strolled through his shop door, he noted the shopping bags, abandoned on the floor, purchases strewn everywhere. Warily picking his way through the sea of clothes and accessories, he made his way to the back of the shop, alert just in case someone had taken his Belle on her way back from her shopping trip, or hurt her.

However, nothing - in this world or the other - could've prepared him for the sight he faced on the other side of the door. In his parlour, in her chair, sat (what appeared to be) Belle, inside a giant duck outfit. She turned and smiled widely at him, "Robert! You're back!"

"And you're a duck." came his reply, as he shook his head, not quite sure what exactly was going on. Belle giggled, as he raised his cane to point at her. "What.. what is that?" Mr Gold asked, still frowning in confusion. "It's a onesie, I think they're called? I saw it when I was shopping! There were rabbits, and mice, and penguins... and then I saw the duck, and you know how much I love ducks..."

Robert put his head in his hand, recalling the Pond Incident with an amused sigh. She smiled, wide and childlike, under her gaudy yellow hood with the oversized orange beak. He sighed once again, grinned a resigned sort of grin, and waved one arm at her. She jumped from her seat, and ran to him, curling her head under his chin as he held her.

After smoothing the hood off her head, he kissed the top of her head. "I'm the cutest duck you've ever seen, right?" She mumbled into his shoulder, before pulling away to seriously look him in the eye. "Yes, dearie. The very cutest duckie you could ever find." He leaned down, and gently kissed her. "And you love me, right?" she murmured against his lips.

"More than I can ever show you." He replied, his voice low, and his accent pronounced. "Good," she whispered, "because I bought one for you too."
