A/n: Hey guys this is my first Fanfic, My names Cormonde but I tend to refer to myself a Matt. I hope you enjoy this story.

?: So when do I get to show my skills.

Matt: Dammit, get out of here you don't come in for at least 3 or 4 chapters.

?: Aww but I want to see Natsu and Lucy.

Matt: Be quiet and do the diclaimer.

?: Fine, Cormonde/Matt does not own Fairy Tail or its characters, they belongs to Hiro Mashima.

Chapter 1: The one born of darkness.

[With Natsu][X782]

On an island far way form the eyes of civilization there are two people who live in a cave where no light can be found. "Master may I ask what made you decide to take me in" A young boy with salmon coloured hair asked. His master seemed to think back to it for a few minutes before answering; he was remembering that faithful day. "That's a simple one Natsu, you remind me of myself when I was young, you contain the same darkness that I do but you need to learn how to control it because I don't want you to end up like me" replied a man with red eyes and black hair. 'That and you have a great power that can benefit the world' the man thought to himself.

"Anyway Natsu do you know why I brought you to this island in particular." The man continued. "Actually I have an idea I felt it when we arrived this island is filled with great light but in this cave it's the opposite it's filled with darkness but they are not fighting each other but seem to be balanced." Natsu replied with a grin. The man then ruffled young Natsu's hair. "Well done this will be the last place you will train before you set off on your journey" replied the man with a look of pride on his face. "The last place huh, we've been to so many before this. So why is this place the last place?" Natsu asked with an inquisitive look. "Don't worry about that now plenty of time for questions later Natsu, right now we must continue from we left off." The man replied.

Natsu quickly got into a defensive stance unsure of where his master's attack would come from but before he could fully prepare himself he collapsed. "Natsu" his master yelled running up to him. "You used up all your strength just to walk, this island is filled with light magic it can affect you greatly, so rest now you must be ready for the trials ahead." Natsu's master said with a relieved expression. "Thanks ….Dad" Natsu mumbled before drifting off again. 'He called me dad' the master thought to himself with a small smile forming on his face.

[6 months later]
"Hey dad can I ask why you can't come with me after we finish training" Natsu asked the man who he knew as his Master and foster father. The man looked up at the sky and replied "I don't have to tell you because you will learn soon why but not from me, tomorrow is your last day on the island and the day of the last trial so remember to get some sleep" He looked down to Natsu with a look of sadness on his face but it was one of joy. "Natsu I have a present for you, I was going to give it to you tomorrow but it may be of use to have during the trial tomorrow but don't open it till I go." With that he handed Natsu a box and left to go prepare dinner with the fish they caught.

Natsu couldn't help but wonder what was inside the box, he spent most of the day with his dad so he wondered when he had time to get him this. With that he opened the box and inside was three items the first was a white scarf that looked like it was made of some kind of scales, the second was a black coat with gold fabric running down the side like his Master's and the last item was the most peculiar it was a necklace with a black gem of some kind on it but it looked like the gem had been cut in half. "These are so cool, I gotta thank dad for them once I get ready for dinner" Natsu thought to himself as he ran off to wash up and put on his gifts.

[A few hours later]

Natsu walked into what he had quickly found out during his stay to be the kitchen of the cave but his Father was nowhere to be seen. "Dad, dad where are you?" Natsu yelled looking around he noticed a note on the slab that they used as a table. "Huh what's this?"

Dear Natsu
Change of plans the last trial has to take place tonight, head to the beach where we first landed when we arrived on the island and make your way to the mages guild known as Fairy Tail On the main land. And remember I will always love you as my son.

P.s: Trust her

"Wonder what caused this to happen, ahh well I guess its better we get this done now but why couldn't Dad tell me himself and just who is her" he thought to himself as he reread the note never really getting answers to his questions. "Fairy Tail huh, I guess I should get going maybe I'll find the answers there" and with that he headed towards the entrance to the cave and then from there to the beach but as he was leaving Natsu remembered something he had to bring with him a gift from his first teacher, he ran back to his room. He pulled out a box from under the bed and opened it, in it there was a white journal, a white and gold key and a letter. After he put the items in to the coat he had gotten earlier he made his way out of the cave and followed the path towards the beach. It wasn't a long trek to get there just annoying there where wild animals out at night but they knew to avoid Natsu courtesy of his magic.

He was nearing the beach when he heard a yell for help. "What, the…. I thought it was only Dad and me on the island, I need to get to the beach quickly but I can't just leave whoever is out there without help and Dad would scald me if I did" He thought to himself and then sprinted off in the direction of the yelling. He forced his way through the overgrown forest, ignoring the shifting shadows that were appearing around him as he ran towards the origin of the cry.

[At the sametime further in land]

Two figures looked through a lacrima watching the events unfold one was a man and the other a woman. "It seems that they found the children's location much faster than expected, it's for the best that they leave tonight" The man said while focusing on the lacrima. "I know but I wish they had more time to be ready but if they don't leave soon….." Woman said turning to the man with tears forming in her eyes. "Don't worry Mavis, we'll see them again soon even if I will no longer remember Natsu" The man replied to the first suddenly his body began to become transparent and his eyes became wide " No please just a bit longer, Mavis please promise me the you will watch over him." "I promise Zeref, I promise I will watch over them both and make sure they are ready" The woman said just as the man vanished, Mavis then began to cry for the loss of her dear friend.

A/N: This is my first Fanfic. I hope you have enjoyed the first chapter. Not sure I'll be including pairings yet I haven't planned that far. Any advice you can give is appreciated. Thank you all for reading and I'll talk to you next chapter where we'll switch perspectives of the story to that of the person who was yelling. Hehe I wonder who it could possibly be.
