Disclaimer: I do not own Anastasia, well I do on DVD, but I don't have any of the rights to it. I just get to write fanfiction, because I'm hopelessly obsessed. This is probably why gas prices are higher than my total GPA, but we won't get into that.
Unspoken Attraction-
It's only been a day since Dimitri left for St. Petersburg and already Vladimir was depressed. After seeing the boy everyday for ten years, Vlad just got used to having him around. Dimitri was more like a son to Vlad rather than just a friend. The party the night before was remarkable. It had gotten Vlad thinking about the days when he was a member of the imperial court. How he missed those days! Now here Vlad was at his dear Sophie's place. He helped Dimitri return the grand duchess to her family. Vlad was hurt. After everything that he and Dimitri had been through, after what they planned, the con took the money and hopped on the train for St. Petersburg.
Speaking of disappearing acts, Vlad hadn't seen Anya either since the Russian Ballet. Then again, that was to be expected. The young princess was probably being escorted all over Paris for social events. Vlad probably won't see much of her either anymore. It was sad really, he was beginning to grow fond of Anya and knew that that young woman would always hold a special place in his heart.
"Vlad, what are thinking about?" Sophie asked in her thick french accent.
"Just about Dimitri," was Vlad's simple reply. Sophie smiled thinking about the quickly scribbled note to the Dowager Empress. "I can't believe he took the money and left," he mumbled.
Vlad didn't mean for Sophie to hear the last part, but she did. "Aye! Aye! Aye!" she cried dramatically. "He didn't take the money!" she exclaimed.
"WHAT?" Vlad shouted surprised to hear what the french woman had just told him. "He didn't," he said in a lowered voice, wondering just what had changed for Dimitri not to go along with the original plan.
"No! No! No!" Sophie exclaimed in her shrill voice. "He took the girl! They've eloped!"
Vladimir couldn't believe his ears. Dimitri and Anya, married! He wasn't going to lie, he's been secretly rooting for them since Dimitri had told him that Anya was in fact the princess. The two eloping would definitely explain their absences. Snorting, Vlad said, "and he said there wasn't any attraction between them." The unspoken attraction between Anya and Dimitri had been obvious since that eventful train ride from St. Petersburg. Looking out over Paris, Vlad wished that wherever the two were traveling to, they would be happy. "Good," he whispered thinking of what Sophie had just told him.
The End-
