Illusion of Gaia: Novelization

Prologue

Long ago, in a time that modern man has long forgotten, an ancient civilization reached a pinnacle in its Golden Age. During that time wars were put to rest, diseases were squelched, and knowledge and peace flourished. As their knowledge grew, so did their abilities to do miraculous things. New species of animals and plants were continuously being discovered—and even created!

However, as with any great power, there comes an even greater responsibility. Though the ancients possessed almost god-like powers, they were still made of flesh and blood, and some still retained the minds of demons. Through their power, they began to distort and twist their creations into beings of pure and malevolent evil bent solely on destruction. Worst of all, the creations were given a horrifying intelligence and used it to terrorize more efficiently. As more and more creatures arose, the faster they turned on their masters and during those years the civilization began to crumble.

Vicious war erupted and threatened to destroy the planet until, finally, two factions, previously enemies, decided to team up to defeat the evil that they themselves had created. On one side was the coalition of the Knights of Light and the Knights of Darkness, and on the other side were the maliciously intelligent beasts. Weapons clashed and god-like power rent the sky, but in the end one weapon sent both sides running: the Chaos Comet.

Nobody knows who exactly created it or what its true purpose was meant to be, but every eight hundred years it passes the planet, sending forth its deadly radiation and blazing light. Monsters grew and evolved into true demons of the underworld, masters of all they surveyed. Knights and citizens alike began to transform and mutate into the very beasts they were fighting until nothing but a few relics of the ancient civilization remained.

Though in time the planet would heal itself and animals would return and great races of people, such as the Babylonians and Incas, would rise and return to normal life, the Chaos Comet would return again eight hundred years later to unleash more destruction on the unknowing populace until it was too late…that is, until now…

A/N: Sorry this is really short; I didn't have that much to work with for this one, but I promise the next chapter will make up for it. All of my other notes will be at the end of the actual chapter that I'm releasing as the same time as this.

Disclaimer: I own nothing! I'm just doing this for fun!
