Pocket of Heaven
It was the last day of Hogwarts, the war was claiming more and more Aurors and fighters every day.
And in a pocket of Heaven, two teens lay next to one another, looking out as the sun rose.
He'd be leaving as soon as possible after graduation, to fight for what he believes in. She'd be leaving to help others as a Healer, even though she wished with all her heart that she was allowed to fight as the men were.
"I love you," he whispered into her ear, looking down at her.
"I love you too," she whispered back, although much softer.
Their relationship was secret. None of their friends realized that the two persons who had hated each other with a violent passion loved each other.
"Why do you have to go?" She asked.
"Because I believe in a better, more peaceful, and equal world," he answered.
She sighed. Every single time she asked that one question, that was his answer.
"I wish I could fight with you."
He looked down at her. "You can't, the Ministry expressly forbade women to fight. Stupid sexists."
She smiled, her eyes lighting up. He loved her with all of his heart, and fell in love with her smile.
"I could pass as a boy, just cut my hair and wrap my chest," she suggested.
He sat up, bringing her with him. "I don't want you to get hurt---"
Her eyes flashed. "Do you think that I don't?"
"You know that I love you---"
"The feeling is mutual," she snapped.
He was quickly loosing his patience.
"Please, see reason---"
"What reason?" She was pissed now. "Do you see? There is no reason to this war! He wants to rid the 'unpure' from the Wizarding World, even when those that are 'pure' are so few! It is all because of this mad man!"
He silenced her with a kiss, knowing that she could go on for hours if he let her.
"What was that for?"
He smiled mischievously. "It was to make you shut up."
She playfully whacked him, her anger with him gone.
He took her small hands in his large ones. "Marry me?"
Her eyes went wide. "Do you mean it?"
He took out a ring from his shirt pocket, offering it.
Happy tears threatened to spill from her eyes. "Yes," she whispered. "I will."
He slipped the small band onto her ring finger.
They lay back down, her head on his chest, watching the sun rise, as a war wages around them, in their little pocket of Heaven.
Guess who they are! Short, cute, little one-shot. I needed to write something more on the cute side. There will be no sequel to this. It is a ONE SHOT. Actually, I was watching Kingdom of Heaven when this popped into my head. Ironic, isn't it?
