This is Gallifrey
1. This is our normality
It was 1am Gallifrey time and most of the occupants of the Time Lord Academy were attempting to sleep, it was then that the rumbling started. Followed quickly by the shaking. Then the seemingly joyful but mechanical cries of "Exterminate! Exterminate!" In the Patrex chapter of the Academy, most students had taken to hiding under their beds until the earthquakes had ceased. Their race would win they were sure of it, but they couldn't help but feel afraid. But one student in particular was not hiding under her bed, Ariana would not. She was preoccupied, pencil flew across paper and drawings quickly came to life, the building shook violently and Ariana clung to her journal. From next door she could hear crying, she had been placed in the private room next door to the group of Patrexes she monitored. In the Academy she was a monitor although she was younger than the older students they were needed to help. With what, Ariana did not wish to know, nor did she want to know as a matter of fact. Clutching her journal to her chest, Ariana quickly exited the room, she walked quickly up to the door and placed her hand onto the scanner. There had been a few renegades before and the time lords weren't taking any chances. She stepped into the room, the group of 8 year old girls had taken to hiding behind the furniture and peeked out, breathing sighs of relief when they saw it was a familiar face. Ariana smiled at them as if to offer comfort but it was not a true smile, she sat herself on a nearby bed taking care that there was no time child to squash within it. One crawled into her lap and immediately looked up at her with big eyes "Lady Ariana?" the child tugged on a strand of the girl's strawberry blonde hair as if it would further get her attention. Ariana shifted her gaze back to the young time lady if you could call such a little thing, a lady. "Yes?" the 15 year old wrapped her arms around the girl as she began to shake, "why do you wear such a funny thing around your neck?" Ariana's hand flew up to her neck almost instinctively, she fingered the rainbow coloured stripy scarf that hadn't come off her neck in a number of years. It was worn beneath her heliotrope robes during the school hours, it was frayed and worn and a large hole was obvious in one of the stripes. She smiled softly "it's a reminder of someone, someone that was very dear to me that I lost," Just then there was an almighty crashing sound and the building again shook violently. The child in her lap clung to her, terrified. "Lady Ariana, will they ever stop?" another young time lady crawled from under her bed and sat cross legged by Ariana's feet. An expression of pain crossed her face "I don't know, I just don't know," Why wasn't he there? To stop the Daleks and save them again? Like he'd always done? The building shook and the metallic cries echoed through the night once more, the crying started again. This was normality. This was the time lords normality.
