Writing used to be an old habit of mine until school got a bit too much for me to handle, so I ended up stopping and now I'm starting again.

Whispers in the Wind
Prologue
A slight breeze whistled through the branches of a dense forest, rustling the young leaves that just began to sprout. Chasing itself toward the end of the wood, the wind's journey carried it farther across the plains to a once prospering and joyous city, which now lay in ruins. The element flew across the crumbled stones and past the fallen treasures of the once legendary village. It's destination was a lone figure in midst of what used to be a bustling town square, but now a jumble of stone and tile. The wind whipped the around the human, combing its invisible fingers through her sleek hair.
From her mouth came forth a tumble of what seemed part laugh and part sob- quiet at first, but growing in intensity with each passing second. Her shrill laughter bounced off the slabs of fallen stone, carried by the gentle gusts of wind.
'Why?" her low and tortured voice was wrenched from the back of her throat, "Such power…such freedom…"
Another voice of an invisible source joined hers, "Why, my dear, I would have expected one like you to realize it by now."
Without glancing up to meet the intruder, the female laughed quietly, "Oh don't worry, my dear friend, I have realized much more than you think. Be cautious of what you believe, for looks tend to deceive."
"Oh, magnificent! That just almost rhymes doesn't it? Well, we'll have to see about that won't we?" the velvet voice purred sweetly, "We have but all the time in this universe. A mere trifle period would change nothing of what you see in front of you."
With that said and done, the figure pivoted dramatically and cackled out her last parting words before disappearing in a strong gust of wind, "I shall expect to see you soon, dearie."
Behind the now gone trespasser, the latter did nothing but smirk, "Time brings many changes and it is those changes that will bring this to an end."
And with that, the shadow too vanished without so much as a trace save flattened earth in which she once stood.

Wow….
That was kinda weird and short, but I promise you guys that it'll make sense in the next chapters. It might take me a while to update, but I'll try.
