AN: Wrote this because of a burst of inspiration. That, and I wanted to see if I could write Hina/Saku.
Disclaimer: I don't own the anime series Naruto or any characters, objects or places associated with it.
Summary: Two girls and a bench. Set during the time gap, slight Hina/Saku shoujo-ai.
Comfort
"Hinata-san," the pink haired girl said softly, turning her head slightly.
"Sakura-san," the paler girl nodded in reply.
To any passing person the two girls sat on the bench would have looked like complete strangers. And in a way, they were. Not really friends, but not enemies. They just knew each other.
There was a silence for a few minutes, not out of lack of things to say but just because there was no need for words. The two girls were content as they were.
"Sakura-san?" the dark haired girl, Hinata, asked politely. "Do you ever wonder...what it would've been like if they'd both stayed in Konoha?" A sad sigh from the other, Sakura.
"Sometimes. I tried to stop him, you know. I tried to stop Sasuke from leaving, but I couldn't. Even...even Naruto couldn't! I was such an idiot! What chance did I ever have with him?" Sakura cried, unshed tears glistening in her eyes. She willed them away, lowering her head. "Sorry. I just can't help it sometimes. I think it's my fault that he left, and then..." she broke off, mumbling.
Hinata smiled softly. "It's okay, Sakura-san. I'm sure Naruto-kun tried his hardest, and maybe when he's back from his training, he'll be able to bring Sasuke-san back," she said. Sakura lifted her head and smiled shakily.
"Yeah. He'll come back, I know he will," she said as a tear ran down her cheek. That was all it took to open the floodgates and soon Hinata ended up with both arms around Sakura's torso, comforting her. "They'll both come back one day, don't worry."
"They'll come back."
So, how was it? Not too, bad, right? Feedback appreciated.
