Baby, stay with me.
I own nothing!
This is a collaboration of song influences.
If only he could read my poker face...it was stupid to think, Pepper knew this better than anyone else, but it was so easy to forget all that was Tony Stark. Just a simple moment, that was all it took for her to let her mind lapse. He'd never change and he'd never love her...
Their poker faces were the best masks worn by two people with the same underlying confessions. Many would argue that the two them needed to 'let their sexual tension ease' and they would laugh it off, only after a comment or two from Tony in regards to him being all for it. But the truth was there was nothing more either of them wanted.
Swiftly Pepper's hand reached for the dial, the song drifted out of the speakers suddenly changed to something softer, something beautiful. What do I have to do to make him see that this is who I am and I can't be anything else? Every lyrics made her reword her thoughts to match, as she had been the entire night. Insomnia did not suit Virginia Pepper Potts, that much she now knew.
Her hand could not reach quicker for the dial, the words digging into her and making her, for some reason, angry. But then the familiar chords rang out, those ones she'd heard so many times at banquets and at dances that she was forced to accompany Tony too. Once, she even danced to it. And now, all it did was bring tears to her eyes. I could offer him a warm embrace to feel my love...There were moments in Pepper Potts' life where she let the better of her emotions take over her. There were moments that were so low beneath her that she dared not look back upon them. This night, listening to the radio, was one of those times.
She always thought that she was safe from Tony Stark's narcissistic ways. At least, she thought she was brave enough to not let herself fall victim to his charming ways, but it proved different when her night had been spent on thoughts of him and how her love for him had surpassed anything of a normal PA and boss relationship.
Then she heard the familiar chords that filled her night, or ones similar to the song that had graced the radio. His voice was echoing throughout the silence of the house and Pepper could feel the fire in her cheeks burning. She rounded the corner to see Tony slumped over the grand piano that graced his study, his brow furrowed as his fingers danced upon the keys. "Didn't see you as a Lady GaGa fan..." she muttered, laughing nervously as he turned to her with a smile. "I heard you humming it this morning and I've had it stuck in my head ever since..." She nodded gently and smiled once more before turning away.
If she could only read my poker face...
okay so I know it wasn't that great but I've had Poker Face from Glee stuck in my head and yeah...hahaha. Leave reviews because I want to still write Pepper/Tony...I like them :)
