Nick's Other Girlfriend!

Nick and Sara were at a fast food restaurant, taking a lunch break after having to work yet another double, they both were irritated, it was a beautiful Saturday afternoon and they wanted to be outside enjoying it, not stuck at work yet again.

"Hi." Came a little voice as they were standing in line to order.

"Hi." They both said at the same time.

"Do you know me?" The little girl asked.

Nick looked at Sara, she shrugged.

"No, I'm sorry sweetie, we don't." Sara told her with a smile.

"You should." She said as she looked at Nick.

"Why's that?" He asked with a smile.

"Because you've been a helper in my classroom before, you're my teacher's boyfriend." She said.

Nick stifled a laugh.

"Who's your teacher?" He asked, even though he was pretty certain what her answer would be.

"Mrs. Stokes." She replied.

"Then you're right, I have been in your classroom, I'm Mrs. Stokes's husband." He told her.

"Is that your other girlfriend?" She asked innocently as she pointed at Sara.

Now it was Sara's turn to stifle a laugh.

"Nope, she's just a friend, I work with her." Nick assured her.

"That's good because I don't think Mrs. Stokes would like it if you had another girlfriend."

"I'm sure she wouldn't." Nick said agreeably with a chuckle.

"Does Mrs. Stokes know that you're with her?" The little girl asked suspiciously.

"Yep, she does." Nick assured her.

"Claire, what do you want to eat?" A woman, presumably the girl's mother asked her.

"Hold on." She told Nick, as if to say this conversation isn't over, before she turned her attention to her mother.

"How's it feel to be the one getting interrogated?" Sara whispered to Nick with a laugh.

"Not good." He responded with a grin.

"Are you going to come into our classroom again?"

"We'll see, would you like me too?" He asked.

"Yeah, we liked it when you were there, you were funny."

Nick chuckled.

"Thanks, I'll ask Mrs. Stokes if it's ok if I can come back some time." He told her.

"Ok good, but you looked better without this." She informed him as she pointed at Nick's beard.

Nick burst out laughing.

"Mrs. Stokes thinks so too." He said.

"Claire, come on, our food is ready." The child's mother said.

"Bye." The little girl said with a wave, she took a couple of steps and then turned back around to face Nick again.

"Would you tell Mrs. Stokes I said hi?" She asked.

"I sure will." Nick answered.

"Thank you." She told him before she turned and followed her mother to a table.

When Nick and Sara had gotten their food they sat down so they could eat. It was a nice distraction from their frustrating case. Nick enjoyed having lunch with his other girlfriend.

The End!
