Eto, Eto, My Toeto

"Hmmm, hmmm, hmmm, hmmm, hm-hm-hm-hm..." Luka hummed idly to herself as she set about her kitchen making breakfast. Her house wasn't very large - it was practically an apartment - but it was more than large enough for the two residents.

And speaking of the other resident... Luka glanced at the clock. 7:50 a.m. Frowning a bit, she glanced around the bottom floor, but she saw nobody else there. Odd, she thought to herself as she climbed the stairs, she usually wakes herself up by now...

She quietly walked over to the door marking the singular bedroom in the house - which, Luka reflected on now, was probably a good thing, seeing how her little girl got anxious so easily. Gently pushing the door open, she was surprised to see a little ball curled up on their bed, shaking slightly and emitting small whimpers.

Sitting down on the edge of the bed, she smiled very slightly as she felt small arms go around her waist and a slightly wet face press into her chest. "Toeto," she began, rubbing her daughter's back gently, "what's wrong?"

"I- I- I- *sniff* ... I dun' wanna go to school today..." Toeto cried quietly into her mother's heartbeat.

Luka was surprised by this. Toeto had been looking forward to the day she started first grade... so why was she acting like this now? "Why don't you want to go to school, sweetie?"

"..." Toeto remained silent for a bit before finally responding "I'm s-scared..."

"How come? There's nothing scary in school." Luka said gently.

"B-but I wo-won't know anybody..." the child hiccuped, clutching tighter to Luka.

Oh, Luka thought, that would explain it. She remembered that when she was younger, she'd dreaded the first day of school for the exact same reason. I suppose it runs in the family...

"Well then, did you know that when Mommy was little, she thought that it was a little scary to go to a new school, too?"

"R-really?" Toeto's big eyes peeked out from their hiding spot in Luka's shirt hopefully.

"Mm-hm." Luka smiled, petting her daughter's hair gently. "And do you know what else?" Toeto shook her head. "Mommy used to have something very special to wear, to make her feel better." She stood up, picking Toeto up, and walked over to their closet. After looking through it for a while, she eventually procured a small white hat that bore a striking resemblance to a kitten.

She set her daughter down on the bed, and placed the hat on top of Toeto's head. The child reached up to feel it gently, before running up to the mirror to look at herself.

"Well, look at that, a perfect fit." Luka smiled warmly at her child as said girl played with the hat a bit more.

"S-so I can really wear it to school, Mama?" Toeto looked up at Luka, the kitten hat slipping over her eyes a bit.

Luka nodded. "Of course. It's yours now - it's too small for me to wear anymore. Besides, it looks cute on you, Toeto."

Toeto beamed. "Thank you, Mommy!"

"You're welcome, honey. Now, how about we eat some breakfast? It's almost time for you to go to school." Luka asked as she took Toeto's hand and they headed back downstairs.

"Okay!" The small girl said happily, feeling (mostly) ready for her first day of school.

A/N: This premise came along whilst overanalyzing the song 'Toeto' by Megurine Luka. I heard the lyric "I don't know when she came, but I feel her inside of me" and saw a few pictures (namely, these two: danbooru. donmai. us/ post /show /730388 /bad_id- blue_eyes- dual_persona- e-kiasanyagi- hug-lon and danbooru. donmai. us/ post /show /409360 /animal_ears- animal_hat- cat_ears- cat_hat- closed_eye (remove spaces)) and in 3.14159 seconds flat my brain jumped to "Toeto is Luka's daughter! :D". Soooooo yeah. I hope you quite enjoyed your shameless fluff.
