It was dark.
The clouds were spiraling around the top of the spitting volcano, its magma slowly making its way down the rock.
A glimmer of light made its way to the bottom of the giant rock, sparkling as it made its way down.
It was like an orb, gleaming as it left sparkles in its wake.
Finally, it came to a fissure within the red rock, stopping..
"What are you here for?" a deep rumbling voice growled at the gleam from the fissure. "Grandeeney!"
"Long time, no see," an airy voice responded, seemingly unfazed.
"You are... forbidden to meddle... or even come here!" the deep voice roared. "You should leave now, Grandeeney!"
"I'm here," Grandeeney continued as if the voice hadn't yelled. "Because I sensed that you were close."
Grandeeney paused for a moment.
"You know, that child is truly a troublemaker."
"Like anyone else I could mention?" she tittered.
The voice's eyes, which were the only visible thing about it, narrowed and glared intensely.
"This time," Grandeeney continued, nonchalantly. "He was lucky."
Her voice turned serious. "But such luck was not meant to exist. That child may wind up dead."
The voice edged forward, a single talon catching the light. "Leave!"
"I feel," Grandeeney kept going casually. "That eventually, that child will meet up with Wendy." A smile could be heard in her voice, though it was unseen. "This time, I hope they become good friends!"
"Leave!" the voice roared, stepping out of the fissure, its claws and scales catching the light. "And do not interfere with the humans!"
A gigantic dragon whose body was mostly covered with dark, red scales came out, foot smashing the ground. His lower body, specifically his stomach, the inner portions of his long tail, and legs, were beige in color, and he also had noticeable scars on his stomach and neck. One was placed over his right eye, and another was x-shaped, next to his nose. His back had numerous black spikes, reaching down from his back to the end of his tail, and he had three horns; one on his nose, and two resting beside his bat-like ears. His large bony wings resembled a bat's, with rippled tips, and four, powerful legs came from his large body, completing the terrifying image of the dragon whose body was lined with flames.
"Is it truly your aim to make Igneel angry?!" he roared.
"I suppose," Grandeeney sighed coolly. "No matter how worried we are, we can do nothing to affect matters," she paused. "All we can do is trust in the strength of mankind." Turning to look at the hostile Igneel, and her voice turned slightly fearful. "But Zeref..." she stopped. "We shouldn't. Let's not discuss it."
Igneel continued to glare, flames licking his hide.
"I look forward to the day when we can meet at Ryûôsai." As she faded, one last word could be heard coming from her. "Igneel!"
A/N:
First off, Ryûôsai is 'The Dragon King Festival', and since I'm a decent person, Imma cite my sources.
Fairy Tail belongs to Hiro Mashima. If it belonged to me, my ships would be canon, and not end on a CLIFFHANGER. Geez, Mashima. Anyway, my source was Fairy Tail vol. 13, pages 9-14, chapter 101: The Rage Within the Red Earth.
I wasn't quite happy with this chapter, so I made some edits, and it turned into a story.
Also, people needed to know that I'm ALIVE, and have NOT given up on my stories.
I've just… made some friends, y'know?
Enjoy this lil' oneshot!
