A New Cycle

Disclaimer: I do not own Legend of Korra.

A/N: Takes place following Light In The Dark. My first LoK fic. R & R.

'I'll always love you Korra.'

Maybe he thought he was helping her. He did say he wanted to forget they broke up too. Korra sat in the tree of time watching her life flash before her. It was a surreal feeling seeing as she wasn't dead but she felt like dying. She focused on her memories of Mako bringing them to the forefront. She remembered all the happy times. Looking back now she saw they were few and far between. She was right they didn't work. Maybe his heart was never really in it. Maybe that's why he didn't cry when they broke up. Maybe that's why he spent most of the celebration party to honor the new Southern Water Tribe Chief Tonraq with Asami. She watched them get cozy most of the night before finding her parents and telling them she'd loved them and that she needed some time alone. That was two days ago. No, three. As soon as she said goodbye she jumped on Naga and headed to the spirit world. She was trying to make sense of things. She relived her relationship with Mako over and over again. Wondering if she had done something different would they still be together. But watching her memories like a mover showed her that Mako was pulling away from her earlier in the relationship. She decided to give him all of her in hopes it would bring them closer and it did for awhile. Soon they were back to arguing about the littlest things. Korra sighed. She was stronger than this. She was the Avatar. She could bend the four elements to her will. She was also just a heartbroken girl trying to make sense of it all. Once again she focused on the last thing Mako had said to her.

'I'll always love you Korra.'

Why'd he have to say that? Did he even mean it?

Korra focused on the first time they met to start the heartache once again.

End.
