Letting Go
Taichi was making it rather difficult for Koushiro to concentrate on the documents he was supposed to be reviewing for Gennai. While Taichi's company was preferable to Mimi's in that Taichi showed genuine interest in what Koushiro was doing even though he didn't really understand most of it, it would have been better if Taichi could have just read over his shoulder instead of being so inclined to lean on him for a better look. At least he refrained from actually touching the computer these days. Even so, Taichi's visits had become somewhat more frequent since Yamato had become involved with Sora.
Koushiro sighed. He had a feeling he wasn't going to be getting much work done today.
"Hey Taichi," he started carefully. "Are you really over Yamato?"
Taichi removed his weight from Koushiro's shoulder and stepped away from his chair. As Koushiro looked back at Taichi over his shoulder was afraid he might have been too direct, but then Taichi relaxed and forced a smile. Koushiro decided to spin his chair around so it would be easier to face him.
"I think so," Taichi finally answered. "I mean, letting him and Sora figure out their relationship is the right thing to do, isn't it?"
Why was it that Koushiro was typically the one Taichi would actually open up to for relationship advice? It was nice that Taichi felt comfortable talking to him, but these conversations were still incredibly awkward for Koushiro.
"Is that all you're worried about?" Koushiro asked.
"Well," Taichi started again. "I guess Yamato seems to be happy. Sora seems a little insecure, but then she's always kind of been that way so I'm not sure if she's really okay with it or not."
Koushiro sighed again, "Have you tried mentioning this to them?"
"Well no," Taichi admitted quietly. "I'm trying not to complicate things by coming between them."
"That's actually very mature of you," Koushiro voiced his approval.
"Shut up," Taichi grumbled. "Agumon said the same thing."
"It's true," Koushiro persisted. "Yamato and Sora are both your important friends so you want for them to be happy. That's a very grown up thing to do."
Taichi sighed, "I just hope it's the right thing to do."
Koushiro stood up and placed a hand on his friend's shoulder. "You're doing the best you can. Whatever else happens now is between them."
"Thanks Koushiro," Taichi gave him a more comfortable smile. He was still concerned, but at least now he felt a little better about it.
"Anytime," Koushiro smiled back reassuringly.
