I do not own Quinn, Dove, or Hunter. I do not own 'Kiss it all better' by He is We.

He sits in his cell,
And he lays on his bed.
Covers his head and closes his eyes.
He sees a smoking gun,
And the coward he ran.
And in his arms is the bleeding,
Love of his life.

Quinn couldn't stop seeing that moment. From the instant Dove died until the night he met Rashel, that moment was the only thing he saw.

No matter how many nights he slept, no matter how many grotesque scenes played out in front of him, it was always that one that haunted him. It was always that one.

And she cries,
Kiss it all better,
I'm not ready to go.
It's not your fault love,
You didn't know, you didn't know.

He sees his father drive the stake into her heart, he sees in her eyes that she doesn't blame him, but that doesn't help.

He did this. He'd brought her to his father. It was his fault she died, it was his fault his father had the chance to kill her. He would always blame himself.

Her hands are so cold,
And he kisses her face.
And says "Everything will be all right".
He noticed the gun,
And his rage grew inside.
He said "I'll avenge my lover tonight".

He watched her bleed out on the floor of his childhood home. He listened as his father's screams grew louder; he listened as the sound of Dove's breathing grew softer.

He was too confused to think. He was starved, he was new to this world, and his heart had just been rubbed raw. He couldn't think.

And she cried,
Kiss it all better,
I'm not ready to go.
It's not your fault love,
you didn't know, you didn't know.

That's when Hunter and his other two daughters showed up.

"She was too gentle to live in a world full of humans. Do you think you can do any better?"

That's what Hunter had said. Not even a flicker of sorrow to spare his daughter.

But Quinn's grief more than made up for what Hunter was missing.

Now he sits behind prison bars,
25 to life and she's not in his arms.
He couldn't bring her back with a bullet to the heart,
In the back of a man that tore his world apart.

He listened as his father gathered the village, rounding them up, ordering them to burn the Redfern cabin.

He holds onto a memory,
All it is, is a memory.
hey, hey.

There were a million things he would do differently, if he could live it again. He wouldn't give the time of day to Dove Redfern, ignore her completely. And if that didn't work, he would accept being a vampire. He wouldn't run to his father.

And if things still boiled down the same, he would try harder to block that stake. He wouldn't bear a small scar on his abdomen; instead, he would wear a gash as round as the piece of burning pine that killed his love.

He would do something, anything, to make things end differently.

He cries,
Stay with me until I fall asleep,
Stay with me.
Stay with me until I fall asleep,
Stay with me.
Stay with me until I fall asleep,
Stay with me.
Stay with me until I fall asleep,
Stay with me.

He wanted to stay with her, but there was no time to properly say goodbye. The neighbors were already coming to aid his father, and Hunter would not allow such weakness as love or regret in a son.

Kiss it all better,
I'm not ready to go.
It's not your fault love,
You didn't know, you didn't know.

(Kiss it all better.)
Stay with me until I fall asleep,
Stay with me.
Stay with me until i fall asleep,
Stay with me.
(kiss it all better.)
Stay with me until I fall asleep,
Stay with me.
Stay with me until I fall asleep,
Stay with me.

For the next two centuries, this moment would follow him around- coating his heart in yet another layer of ice and stone each time it played.

I FREAKING LOVE THIS SONG!

Seriously, though, it is beautiful and it actually made me cry the first time I listened to it.
