This is just a one-shot I found in an old notebook of mine. I read it and thought, "Why didn't I put this up?" and then realized it was good cuz I haven't uploaded much on this site recently. This comes from The Angel Experiment on page 228. It's just what I think Fang's thoughts were during this time. Enjoy! ^^
Fang's POV
It had been a few days since Max's "brain attack", as she called it. I didn't really know if it would come back so I've been watching Max really carefully, making sure she wasn't in pain again. We were just taking off when I heard Max cry out, just like the last time she had a brain attack.
I looked down, since I was already up in the air, to see her plummet back into the earth from which we'd just taken off. She was holding her head again, looking like someone was driving a spike through her head. I landed at her side and gently touched her shoulder.
"Max?" I asked softly, "Is it like before?"
She didn't answer, which was really answer enough for me. The Flock crowded around us as I helped Max sit up and looked at me. I shook my head and motioned for them to sit down. We weren't going anywhere until I talked to Max.
After a while she looked up at us shakily and I was shocked to see the look of fright and pain in her eyes.
"Max, what is the matter with you?" I heard Angel's little voice ask her, sounding horrified. I took a quick look around at the Flock and saw identical looks of shock on their faces, even Iggy's. Restraining a sigh, I turned back to Max.
"Think you should see a doctor?" I asked with blank sarcasm in my voice but I looked her straight in the eye to prove that I didn't find the suggestion all that crazy.
And of course, her stubborn streak shone through despite her situation. "Oh yeah that's a good idea," she said, rolling her eyes, "We need to let more people in authority know about us."
I swear, I was about two seconds away from strangling her. Which was something that was definitely not me-like. "Look," I started, ready to tell her off, when she cut me off.
God it was hard to care about her.
