Yona wiped the sweat from her brow and stared at the tree in front of her. It was riddled with arrows, and Yona took a step forward to retrieve them. Her hand stopped midair. It was as if she had been dipped in amber. She was frozen in place, her heart aching.
Then, a hand touched her arm, and she was free. Yona turned, and stared into the eyes of Jae-Ha. He stepped back and placed his hand on his heart dramatically.
"How can it be?" He cried. "My lovely Yona is covered in sweat!" He took a handkerchief from his pocket, and wiped her forehead. Yona felt tears begin to leak from her eyes and hastily rubbed at them. Jae-Ha noticed and sighed before takin her into his arms.
"You know, my dear," he said softly. "If you ever feel like crying, you can come to me." She hiccupped and hugged him tighter.
"Every time I-" she sniffled, trying to keep from getting snot all over him. "Every time I hold a weapon, I think about how I'm doing the one thing father never wanted me to do."
Jae-Ha pulled her back, so he could see her face.
"I don't know much about parents," he murmured a hint of sadness in his voice. "But I think all your father really cared about was that you were safe. And look! you're alive and well."
Yona smiled sadly, and Jae-Ha held his hand out.
"Do you want to dance?" He asked, eyes sparkling. Yona giggled.
"I'm not a good dancer," she said. Jae-Ha grinned and shook his head.
"Nonsense!" He said, taking her hand. "Everyone can dance!" He spun her, and she laughed. She laced her fingers behind his neck and he dipped her.
"Where did you learn to dance this good?" She asked, her face a little red. Jae-Ha chuckled, his face close to hers.
"I find," he said, slowing down so that Yona could keep up. "That knowing things like this is very effective in attracting woman."
Suddenl, he threw himself down on the ground, pulling Yona down with him. She found herself next to him, head on his chest.
"I like dancing," she said softly. "My heart is racing."
Jae-Ha placed his hand on his chest.
"Me too," he whispered. She raised her head, and he put his fingers under her chin. Eyes half closed, he leaned forward, and kissed her. She kissed back, putting her hands in his hair. When she finally pulled back, her face was flushed. Jae-Ha blushed himself, and pushed her head down so she couldn't see.
"I love you, my dear," he said quietly. Yona, who was falling asleep, murmured something that might have been an ''I love you too.'' But Jae-Ha was content with what he had been given. Closing his eyes, he kissed her sweaty hair, and loved her.
