Ash stared up at the stars as he laid in his sleeping bag. He should be asleep, but his brain was filled with thoughts, mainly about his current travel companions.
Brown eyes drifted over to Cilan, who was sleeping a few feet away. The green-haired man reminded Ash a lot of Brock. Both were former Gym Leaders, both were someone he could go to for advice, and both knew how to take care of Pokémon - whether it was by healing them or by showing how to bond with them properly. The only big difference between the two was whereas Brock was a huge womanizer; Cilan was not.
Ash had to hold in his laughter at the thought of Cilan acting like Brock around women.
The young trainer's eyes then went to Iris, who was currently sleeping in a tree. Just as Cilan reminded Ash of Brock, Iris reminded him of Misty. Both girls have a passion for a certain type of Pokémon and want to become masters with that certain type and he unfortunately met them under somewhat embarrassing circumstances. The two girls can also be very condescending to him when he makes simple mistakes and treats him like a novice at times.
Ash grimaces at that thought. Everyone makes mistakes from time to time. At least Iris isn't violent like Misty is. Misty may be his friend, but there are times where he's glad he doesn't have to travel with her anymore. His journeys through Hoenn and Sinnoh were quite peaceful since he never argued with May or Dawn as much as he did with Misty. If only it could be like that here in Unova.
Letting out a sigh, Ash knew that would probably never happen as Iris would most likely continue calling him a kid, even though he's older and much more experienced than her. It seems that ninety-nine win streak she had before being beaten by Drayden went straight to her head and made her think she was better than others. He also thought that if she's so adamant about becoming a Dragon Master, she'd use Axew in battles instead of using Excadrill all of the time.
'Oh well,' Ash thought. 'I guess the best thing to do is just bare with her for now. …I wonder if I should catch an Ice-type later on.'
Grinning at that last thought, Ash decided to finally go to sleep. If he wanted to reach the next gym, he was going to need all the energy he could get.

Just a short little one-shot about Ash's travel companions. It really shows that they truly "started over" with the Unova Arc by making Cilan and Iris very similar to Brock and Misty. As you can tell from the second half of this one-shot, I am not a fan of Misty and Iris.
