I've always like the idea that plants can create plant life and such. I really dunno how canon that is, but Knives was sitting in his own little geo-plant in the last episode. I don't think the idea is that far-fetched. It's also just a bit of Vash/Meryl fluff for you to enjoy as well. :)

"Close your eyes."

"Why?"

"C'mon, just close them. I promise, I won't do anything childish."

"That's what I'm afraid of!"

"Trust me."

"Oh, alright."

The tall, blond man gently intertwined his fingers with the small woman's, and walked her quietly over the large, sandy ridge. He led her a little ways, before stopping on a soft piece of land.

"You can open your eyes now."

She stared in wonder for a moment, in awe of the sight her eyes were met with.

"Did...did you make this?" She found herself standing in a grassy oasis, trees and plants all around her.

"In a manner of speaking." He smiled at her. "Yeah, I did." He let go of her hand, bringing his arm around her waist instead.

She tensed at his arm around her waist, still not used to affection from him. She had to let herself settle at the thought of him loving her. It was not an unpleasant thought by any means. Just new.

"It's amazing. It really is."

"Naw. " He smiled. "It's no more amazing than what the Earth would have originally been like. My dream is to help this planet to one day be as fruitful and life-sustaining as it was, before it was destroyed." He turned his head, looking down at her with love in his eyes.

"I'm doing it for the human race to have a second chance. I'm doing it for you."

"Hey. Do you have a minute?"

"Of course."

"Um...I'm really bad at this sort of thing."

"Vash? What is it?"

"Uh. Um. I-I-"

"You...?"

"I. I think...I think I like you, Insur- Meryl."

"You...you DO?"

"Yeah! Well...I mean, no. If I'm being honest...Meryl... I think I love you."

"Vash!"

She smiled and flushed at the flashback. Had that day already been two months ago? It still felt like yesterday.

She took a breath and placed her own arm around his waist. She heard a small gasp, and found his aqua eyes on hers. "Meryl..." He breathed.

"It's beautiful, Vash. The trees, and flowers...I've never seen so much green in all of my life." But the most beautiful thing about it, is that you made it." She took his free hand- his real hand -into her own.

"Vash...I think I might love you, too."
