Admitting

Few students milled the grounds. Two boys stood talking by a serene, turquoise lake. One looked worried about something; the other seemed to assure him of something. A girl walked up to the majestic castle, but stopped in her tracks upon hearing what the two handsome, black-haired seventh years were talking about.

"Mate, she's smart and sassy. Witty and funny. Whenever I'm not involved, she's sweet and caring and sensitive. Loyal and friendly. She's beautiful and perfect, but… she hates me. Can't stand my guts," the boy confessed.

"Well, maybe you need-" the other boy was cut off.

"Do you really think all that about me?" a musical voice sounded from behind.

"How do you know I was talking about you?"

"You said my name."

"Oh. Well, um…yeah," he admitted sheepishly. "But you've known that since fifth year."

"I thought you were just lying to get me to go out with you," the crimson-haired girl said, embarrassed.

"I do many things, but lying to people I care about isn't one of them," the hazel-eyed blushing boy said.

"You lie to our professors all the time! And you seem pretty darn good at it too!" the girl cried indignantly.

"Well, that's just to get out of detentions."

"Whatever. All I want to know is if you truly meant all those things you said earlier. That was sweet of you, you know."

Sirius mysteriously disappeared as the couple argued. They had subconsciously been walking towards each other. Now they were only a couple steps away from each other.

"Well, that's got to be the first compliment you've ever given me, Thank you. And, yes you really are all those things. And more."

"Well, this simplifies things. I was planning on telling you I didn't think you were quite such an arrogant toe-rag anymore, but I suppose this'll do." And with those words, Lily Evans took a step forward and kissed an unsuspecting James Potter.
