Tranquilizer Darts
A/N: This is purely humor related, inspired while watching an episode of Case Closed.
Summary: What if Richard wakes up while Conan is solving a case, and really figures out why he's called the 'sleeping sleuth'?
Disclaimer: Detective Conan / Case Closed doesn't belong to me.

"That's right, I know who did it. I know who the killer is."
Richard Moore's voice surrounded the room as everyone present watched the sleeping sleuth in action. No one seemed to realize that his lips oddly never moved when he solved these cases, and no one found anything suspicious, which was a plus in Conan's eyes.
But within a few minutes of solving this particularly difficult case, he felt a stir from in front of him on the chair. He gulped and looked towards Richard.
He looked to still be sleeping, and sighed deeply, continuing to solve the case using Richard's voice.

Richard had indeed woken up. The case had taken longer to solve than Conan intended, and so the effects of the tranquilizer dart had worn off. He was slowly coming to. When he heard his voice, not coming from his own mouth, he was instantly awake, but his eyes were still closed.
Who's using my voice? Richard thought. It sounds like it's coming from right behind me.
Opening an eye by just a tiny bit and keeping his head bowed, he saw everyone in front of him that he was supposed to see except for --
The brat, Conan.
His eye twitched. He knew something had been up with the brat from day one. He had solved every single case since he had been dropped on his doorstep by Dr. Agasa, who claims his family had been overseas. He didn't buy it, but after he got the paycheck from his parents when they returned for his expenses, he let it drop, figuring that the kid was just some sort of brilliant genius. There were kid prodigies nowadays.
Stupid kid' Richard thought. How dare he use my voice and solve the case on his own.
But as Richard thought about it, he realized that he had never actually heard of the kid taking credit for anything, not even actually solving the case. Did that mean he was willingly letting Richard have all the glory? If so, good for him. The police'd never believe that a ten year old boy solved such difficult cases all on his own, even if he was a child prodigy.
"I can't believe it..."
Whispers were going around about the case, and Richard listened to them while pretending to be asleep. A usual case, a girlfriend suspicious of her boyfriend so they call Richard to see if he can spy on them for a while and find out what they were up to. Richard had, and found him indeed cheating on his wife, but the man who she was cheating with was killed soon after. Richard was sure he had it figured out who did it, but apparently he was wrong, and there was almost little to no proof, so how Conan solved it was a mystery to him.
He heard a familiar sigh from behind him when Conan finished solving the case, and Richard's eye twitched again as he saw him peek out and look at him, to see if he was really asleep. Figuring that he was, since he hadn't moved since the light stirring he saw, he waited for everyone's attention to be diverted elsewhere so he could walk around without being suspicious looking.
Stupid kid, Richard thought as he faked a groan, 'waking up'.
I'll get him for knocking me out with those tranquilizer darts.
A/N: For the record, he didn't even think twice that Conan really wasn't a kid, so he has no idea, just thinks he's one of those brilliant ones. He did figure out the part of the tranquilizer darts on his own, how else would a ten year old kid knock a grown adult out cold? I hope you enjoyed it, and this was not meant to be continued. It was just a bit of humor.
