Good Morning

Joyless Euphoria

They woke up the same way every morning. The sun would peek over the mountains and silently caress their features as they slept, tangled in each other's arms. Her hair sprawled out next to her taking up any space unused by the couple. Her curled up form was pressed up against his, arms bent at her chest. Her head delicately rested under his chin. He hugged her to him, with one arm protectively around her waist, never letting go. She shifted a bit, and let out a warm sigh, waking him up. Snuggling closer to him, she drifted back to sleep. He tightened his hold on her, and looked down at the gorgeous girl in his arms. Her blond hair was shining with the rays of sunlight drifting through their bedroom window. He closed his eyes for a moment, taking in the feeling of warmth and love that soared through him during his favorite part of the day. When he opened his eyes again, he realized she was looking up at him through sleepy eyes.

"Good morning, beautiful" he said, kissing her head and inhaling the sweet scent of her shampoo.

"Mmm.. Good morning." she managed to murmur out before burying her head in his broad and warm chest.

"What, no good morning kiss? I'm hurt". After all those years, he still loved to tease her the way he did when they were kids. Seeing her flustered face and scrunched up nose brought a sparkle to his eye.

"Get a band aid, jerk. I'm sleeping." Rejected, he thought. Although he loved laying there with her, he loved nothing more than caressing her lips with his. He lived for those kisses. Those kisses that portrayed so much passion, love and trust for each other. The kisses that told him everything was okay, the kisses that told him she loved him as much as he loved her. Right now, he would give anything for one of those kisses, and she was depriving him for sleep. This, simply would not do.

He moved his arm from around her waist slowly down her hip, to the spot that bared her smooth skin, where her pajama shirt had risen up during their long nights sleep. His warm hand rested on her side and his index finger trace tiny circles on her curves. She wiggled slightly, but ignored him. He kept running his hand down her hip until he got to her bottom, and hugged her to him from there. She let out a tiny squeak and looked up at him through those same sleepy eyes, that were now somewhat more alert.

"Darien..." she gasped out, looking at him through dark lashes. A faint blush was growing on her cheeks, and he looked down fondly at her. She really was beautiful. Giving her a small smile, he bent his head down and captured her lips with his. The kiss was long, and slow. Her lips felt like flower petals against his, making him groan as he gently massaged her bottom through her satin pink pajamas. He felt her sigh as they parted, her blue eyes looked up at him before they snuggled close to each other yet again.

"I love you." She sighed into his pajama shirt, her warm breath tickling his throat.

"I love you too." He closed his eyes and held on to her tight. They lay there for who knows how much longer. It could've been for another day, another week, or perhaps the rest of the year. They didn't really care. They had each other until the end of time, and as long as they still woke up the same way every day... He could lay there forever.
