Your Dark to my Daisuke
by: Kagome-reincarnation

"Hey, Riku?" Risa stuck her head into her twin sister's doorway.

Riku looked up from the book she'd been reading, curious. "What is it, Risa?" Her sister usually didn't come to her after they retired to their rooms.

"Um…" Risa seemed to be nervous. "You… Can I sleep with you tonight?"

Her twin set the book aside, taking note of its page, even as an eyebrow rose. "Did something happen?" she asked, a bit worried. Her sister was acting really out of character – and it was most certainly of concern.

Risa shook her head, her hair swaying with the subtle movements. "No, it's just…"

Riku sighed and shifted from the middle of her large bed to just one side, patting the part she'd vacated. "Come on," she called. Her sister wasted no time in shutting the door behind her and moving to climb into the bed with her.

"Sorry," she said, abashed. "I was watching a scary movie and I didn't want to go to bed by myself in case I had a nightmare."

Riku only nodded. "Don't worry about it." She glanced at the time. It was almost ten. "Are you tired?"

Risa shook her head. "No, I'm not, but I was hoping we could talk a bit?"

Her sister shrugged. Risa got like this from time to time – it wasn't that big a deal, so she didn't mind, but there were times when Risa became overly analytical of things that she really didn't need to be concerned about.

"Might as well get comfortable, then," she said, before reaching to the side to turn out the light. She reached down into the covers to take hold of her sister's hand as they always did when they slept together. "What did you want to talk about?"

"Well…" Risa drew the word out for a moment before getting to the point. "What is it that you like so much about Daisuke?"

Riku blinked. That… had been unexpected. "What do you mean?" Why did Risa want to know about her relationship with Daisuke?

Risa turned to look at her. "Well, it's not as though he has a lot going for him, you know," she said firmly. "And you could be doing a lot better than someone like Niwa."

"What are you saying, Risa?" Riku responded to her sister. "At least Daisuke's closer to me than Dark is to you."

Risa frowned. "But Dark's worth fighting for! And Niwa..? Well… He's not."

"Isn't that a good thing, though?" Riku spoke, "I don't have to worry about him never falling out of my reach and I know that he likes me just as much as I like him."

"Don't you feel like you're settling for someone beneath your level, though?"

Riku shook her head. "Of course not. I like Daisuke, and Daisuke likes me. What more could I ask for? He's sweet and sensitive and he's reliable, to boot." She smiled at the thought of her love interest.

Her sister sighed. "I guess there's no helping you, then."

"I don't need it," Riku said. "Daisuke's a lot better than Dark, anyways."

"What? There's no way that's possible!" Risa responded, her argument as heated as her dedication to the phantom thief. "Daisuke's not anywhere near as cool and amazing as Dark!"

Riku rolled her eyes. "Daisuke's a lot sweeter than that jerk, and he's a lot more thoughtful, too!"

They continued their argument for a while, debating over which male was better, until Riku finally ended it with a dreadfully realistic comment.

"At least I have Daisuke whereas you'll never have Dark!"

Risa had bitten her tongue at the comment, knowing on some level that it was true. Dark had too often evaded her advances for her to believe that he was trying to pretend shyness or anything of the sort. Still, she could dream, couldn't she?

Beside her, she heard Riku sigh. "Don't think about it so much, Risa," her sister told her, smiling kindly at her. "You'll find your Mr. Right someday, too."
