He peered in at the girl with the broken smile, his heart twisting. Venus was beautiful, but he knew she was sad. He'd offered to help her, as had their brothers and Master Splinter, but Venus had politely refused and insisted on keeping her grievances to herself.
Leo knew she didn't want to burden his family with her troubles, but she was their family too. He yearned to be able to help her, but she continued to shut them away at every turn. How did you help one, any way, he wondered, who had lost not only their home but everything they held dear, including their Father? Leo knew he'd be lost forever, his soul irreparably broken, if his beloved Sensei ever passed.
Leo watched Venus as she meditated. He'd do anything to make her really smile but didn't know how. He crept in, sat down, and joined her in meditation. He felt her open her eyes and then swiftly shut them again and smiled at her acceptance.
They'd barely began to meditate, however, when Michelangelo whipped in on a tricycle. "Mikey!" Leo hissed, marveling at Venus' patience as she kept her eyes closed and a peaceful mask upon her lovely, green face.
Mikey was dressed as, of all things, a clown! He honked his red nose at Leo several times. The honking sound finally caused Venus to open her eyes. She took one look at her silly, little brother and burst out laughing, her eyes shining in the first sign of happiness either male Turtle had seen on her in weeks.
Leo sat back with a grin and watched Mikey perform tricks for Venus' amusement. He met his eyes once as Mikey circled around their applauding sister. Mike grinned at him as Leo, smiling, thought warmly, {Thank you, Mikey.}
