Even at Shell Cottage, the air was as cold as a frozen iron on Christmas Eve. Inside the house, figures were moving in front of the light, their shadow the only thing that could be seen from outside. Luna watched as these shadows danced in the light as she made her way to a grassy are near the beach, a bag knocking against her legs as she walked. A headstone protruded from the dirt and sand, reading "Here lies Dobby, a free elf." Next to the stone was a statue of the brave little elf, a proud smile on his face. Luna knelt at the tombstone, gently placing the bag next to her.
"Hello there Dobby. Merry Christmas! Do you remember me? It's Luna. You helped us get out of Malfoy Manner, remember? Well, I thought no one deserves to be alone on Christmas, don't you think? So I brought you some presents."
She stuck her hand in the bag, taking out two parcels. The first was placed in front of her, the second to her right. She tore open the first, taking out two socks. The first was green with fat little Santa's and happy flying reindeers adorning it. The second was every shade of the rainbow, and more, and at the end had a place for toes. "Harry told me you loved socks, so I bought these from a muggle shop not far from here. Propirus Virga." The socks zipped onto the little elf's feet, adding some color to the gray statue. With a smile, she opened up the second. In it, a neon green sweater with Dobby badly sewn onto it lay. She took it out, and using the same spell as before, it fit itself onto the statue. "There you go. It took me a while to sew, but I had to make sure you didn't get frostbite! Or let a Huron bite you! They're very rare, you know."
She stayed out there a few more minutes before returning to the hustle and bustle that made up Shell Cottage. Harry, saw her enter, and walked up to her with a confused look on his face.
"Hey Luna, where did you disappear to?"
Luna gave him a mysterious smile, and said "Oh, just visiting a friend. He gets awfully lonely around this time."
Yes! One more challenge-complete! This was written for DramioneLurver's Sock challenge. Some of you may be wondering, "Why Luna?" Well, I like Luna. But I can never find a reason to write her! So… this is my reason!
A Huron is a magical animal Luna believes in. When they bite you, you get instant frostbite. However, they despise wool with a passion. Yes, I invented this.
