Olivia and Daniel Orney- June 1976
"Welcome home sweetheart!" The whoosh of the fireplace was a welcome one at the end of a long day. Dusting ash off of herself, she kissed her husband on the lips, followed by her child, who gurgled trying to form words.
"It looks like she'll be speaking some time soon." Olivia Orney smiled at her husband Daniel who gestured to the kitchen.
"She's been trying, soon Kiara will be as chatty as her old man."
"You're too hard on yourself, Dan"
"No, I'm serious. I think I'm taking all the words and not leaving any for her." He loved to take the piss, especially when he was the butt of the joke. He never minded being a stay at home father, rather unusual for the age, but being an apprentice to one of the most famous wandmakers in the world (apparently?), Olivia made more money than he had in his own job, plus he got to spend time with his girl.
"Well you better shut it and let her talk, remember, if she says mum before da, you owe me dinner."
"I always make dinner, so it's no different"
"No! I want a supper out! we haven't taken Kiara out much." Olivia grinned and moved to start serving dinner. God, he loved her so much. Even after five years of marriage, she was still all spunk and smiles and jokes and beautiful blonde hair like he hoped his daughter would have. He set his daughter in her highchair at the head of the dinner table and gave her another toy, which chirped and whirled in front of her. Olivia placed their matching plates onto the table as David grabbed Kiara's meal, the same food, yet softer and more finely chopped.
David was about to sit when there was a knock on the door. "I'll get it, I'm already up."
"Sure" Kiara lifted her fork to start eating before "Ki- don't play with your bottle, drink from it!"
Running a hand through his slightly balding hair, he made the short walk to the front door. "Who on earth comes during dinner" he muttered, but the moment he unlocked the door, the door was thrown open and-
"CRUCIO!" -What the hell was this?- is what he would have been thinking, if he hadn't been on the ground screaming in pain.
"Dave!" Olivia ran out the kitchen to inspect, wand out, but she was quickly disarmed. "W-what do you want? Take anything! You can have anything you want! There's a bag of galleons under the bed, take it, take it, just stop it!" A sickening crack filled the air as David jerked himself in agony, cracking a rib. "Oh my god, stop it! Can't you see you're hurting him! He's defenseless! He's just a muggle!" She fell to the ground, looking for her wand, it had to be -somewhere-. She glanced up at the , she realized masked, man. There had to be an explanation.
For the first time since the still maintained curse, he spoke. "He's nothing. It's trash like him that is ruining our kind. Trash like him, and trash like you."
"What are you talking about? Trash like- just let him go! Please!"
With a flourish of his wand, the wizard loomed over them both, and released the curse. The broken man curled up against his wife, silent tears sliding down his cheeks, eyes pleading for mercy. Olivia was too busy tending to her husband, letting him know it'd be okay, to notice the man lifting his wand again. The room flashed green and Daniel fell limp in her arms.
"NO!" she looked up at the man, gathering Daniel's body close to her. "Please! please no! Mercy! Have some mercy!"
"Trash like him. And Trash like -you-." Green flooded her vision once more before she fell away from this world.
