No One But You

She flushed.

He chuckled slightly under his breath. It was so easy to make her blush like that.

And at the sound of his amusement she glared up at him, her pretty blush vanishing the instant she did.

He seemed surprised at the sudden change, if only for a moment, before his mask fell back into place.

Her hard sapphire eyes bore into his emerald as she pushed her way past him. He watched her go in mild amusement, her black hair flowing behind her as she went. If it had been anyone else that would not have happened.

The red head was not known for such mercy, as others would call it. If anyone else had brushed past him like she had the offender would've been dead. He was a killer; he would not deny that fact to himself or anyone else.

But she didn't care. She knew this, probably better then anyone else did, but she had never cared. She was one of the few people to treat him like a human being, not some blood lusting demon, even if it was no longer present within him. Perhaps it had been her past that had made her like this, that made her accept him for who he was.

He knew she had once been friends with the blonde leaf shinobi, Naruto, and probably still considered herself his friend. He knew that she had once felt more than friendship for him. Oh yes, he knew.

And maybe this was the reason she felt intimidated by him, though she would not show it. He could feel how she tensed up whenever she was near him as if she feared he would revile her secret or even point out to her that he knew. But no, he would not do this. He would not turn her against him more than she already was, having been arranged to marry him by her father.

She was a descendent of a very powerful clan, perhaps not as powerful as the Hyuga or Uchiha, but powerful enough. He had not liked the idea of marrying, but his advisors had so urgently pushed him to find someone who could bear his heir. He felt sorry for her, though he never spoke of it and pushed it back within his own mind, knowing that he had pulled her away from someone she had truly loved to be with him.

It had been a few months since they had 'married', and he had refused to force her into anything else. He even allowed her her own room to sleep in for now, because he believed she would come around. She may never love him the way she loved the annoying blonde but perhaps there was a chance that he could get close.

After all, as Temari constantly reminded him, even love can grow from the foul pits of hatred, so long as it's given the chance to bloom.

A/N: Hope you liked it! I thought I'd try my hand at a short Gaara/Oc one shot. I think it turned out well. Let me know how I did please and thank you.
