This is a rewrite. Rather than simply replace the original chapter's, I've decided to simply add the new chapters onto the end of the original story so you can comment on them if you had done so already. The new story starts here, from Chapter 3.
Disclaimer: Stargate SG-1 and all related technologies, characters, races and planets are not mine. They belong to MGM. I'm not sure who Battlestar Galactica: The Reimagined Series belongs to, but it isn't me.
Any original characters, technologies, races and planets are mine, although I do apologize if I have used the names etc that someone else has come up with. It would more than likely mean that I liked your character so much, I based a character of mine on yours (although I more than likely would have asked you for permission first), however, it could also be nothing more than a big coincidence.

Orbit of P1X-681
TCS Asgard, Asgard Class Cruiser, Commanding Officer's Quarters
Captain Erin Gant, formerly Colonel Erin Gant of the United States Air Force, sighed as she looked at the progress reports on her desk, before moving over to the window of her cabin and looking out at P1X-681. Although the contents of the reports did make her happy, she was very nervous, even though she would never admit it to anyone other than herself (and even then only in the isolation of her own quarters) at being this far out in uncharted space with untested ships and still mostly green crews.
Her fleet, which should have consisted of the first-in-class of the new Asgard Class Cruisers, 2 Liberty Class Destroyers and 6 Town Class Escorts, was supposed to have been on a 1 month long shakedown cruise around the systems surrounding Earth, both to work out any kinks or problems within the ship's systems and to allow the crew experience with both the ship and each other before being deployed, culminating in a visit to the ruins of Abydos, a tradition adopted by the Terran Commonwealth in order to show their respects to an ally of Earth that had lived, fought and died for freedom from the Goa'uld, as well as reminding the crews what they are fighting for.
Her fleet was supposed to be the first of the new Terran Commonwealth combat fleets, both to verify the concept and to help develop tactics. It had been planned to use the Town Class Escorts to counter enemy fighters and small escort vessels, such as Al'Kesh, while the Liberty class Destroyers tackled the enemy capital ships, such as Ha'taks and Wraith Cruisers, and the Asgard Class Cruiser would take on the heavy capital ships, such as Goa'uld Command Ships, Heavy Ha'taks (which were starting to make an appearance in Goa'uld fleets in slowly increasing numbers) or Wraith Hiveships.
Instead, once her Flagship, TCS Asgard, had been completed, she had received orders to link up with just 3 of her Town Class Escorts and accompany an initial colonization fleet to a recently discovered habitable world, and to then act as a defense fleet for the planet until its own defense ships and network were completed and operational.
Her ships had only been completed when she had received her orders and had not even started their shakedown cruise as they were waiting for the completion of the remaining ships of her combat fleet. However, there were no other ships available to escort and protect the colonization fleet, comprising of 1 Icarus Class Troop Transport, 2 Atlas Class Transports and 4 Valkyrie Class Scout Ships, and as such her fleet had been assigned to the duty.
Looking back at the progress reports, she remembered both the reasons why she was happy and the reasons she was nervous.
The first report had actually been from SPACECOM, informing her that not only was the remainder of her fleet finally completed and were currently undergoing their shakedown cruises, but that 2 destroyers and 5 escorts would be available within the month to take over the defense of P1X-681, freeing her fleet up to return to Earth, providing there were no unforeseen complications which might force their deployment elsewhere.
Several other reports also contained good news, with the construction of the military base on the surface almost completed, roughly 2 weeks ahead of schedule, and the exploration of the surrounding systems, as well as the deployment of sensor probes and satellites, was on schedule, even with the loss of 1 of the Valkyries, which had been forced to return to Earth for repairs due to a malfunction with its sensor array. So far, the Valkyries had scouted every system within 20 lightyears and installed probes or satellites in every system within 10 lightyears of P1X-681, and the aim was to have sensor satellites in every system within 20 lightyears, and concentric rings of satellites every 5 lightyears, up to 15 lightyears, out from P1X-681. This, combined with the sensor array that would soon be installed within the base on the planet, would give the Terran Commonwealth the ability to not only monitor hyperspace for 50 lightyears around P1X-681, but also realspace for 20 lightyears, to provide an Early Warning System for the colony of any visitors, even if they don't use hyperspace.
The only real black cloud currently was the state of the colony's defenses (discounting her fleet), or rather the lack of defenses. Both Sirius and Wolf 359 had a strong network of Defense Satellites, while Earth was protected by 2 squadron's of Escort ships, several Terran Commonwealth Bases within the system, the Ancient Weapon Outpost in Antarctica and the Protected Planet's Treaty (which was still in effect even though the Asgard's power had severely diminished during the war with the replicators and their own genetic degradation). It was planned that P1X-681 would also be getting a network of satellites, however, with the lack of local infrastructure needed to build the satellites, they would have to be built at Wolf 359 and then transferred to P1X-681. The problem was that the satellites were large enough that only 1 could fit in the cargo bay of an Atlas Transport, and currently, no Atlas could be spared long enough to be tied down transporting the number of satellites needed to P1X-681.
Suddenly she was pulled out of her thoughts by the activation of the PA and the voice of her XO, Commander Natsumi Kimura, formerly of the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force, sounded through it.
"Alert Level 2, Captain Gant to CIC. I repeat, Alert Level 2, Captain Gant to CIC."

A/N1: Okay, I've been stuck with a major case of Writer's block for both this and SG:RotTC for ages, however, I'm hoping by rewriting this, it'll allow me to move past that and get writing again.
A/N2: I've introduced several new ships and technology in this that weren't in the old version and I'll give a brief explanation of those in Chapter 5 for you.
