This way originally supposed to be posted for Halloween but I was busy and never got it beta'd in time and then I didn't proofread it until much later. it's mostly a drabble but maybe in the future I will write another following this.
Jay normally liked Halloween. Normally he went all out for Halloween even wearing a costume to school. For every Halloween he had an intricate costume planned. This year was not spared either, even though Jay was thoroughly embarrassed by his costume this year.
Jay never expected to be wearing an embarrassing costume this year, in fact he had planned to wear a really cool one this year, he had it ready a month in advance, until a card game with Metis he didn't have anything to bet and never thought that agreeing to do anything when he lost included Charles changing his Halloween costume. So Jay was forced to sit through the entire school day and all Halloween parties, Charles following to guarantee Jay followed through the whole way, dressed as a cat-boy. Similar to a cat-girl, he had the ears, the tail, and because Charles said it wasn't complete without it, a collar with a personalized nametag.
Jay was humiliated, like almost every encounter with Charles left him feeling. It didn't help that almost every single person in the school felt the need to snicker into their hands as they told him the cat look suited him, and even the few people said his short hair was good, because they would have mistaken him for a slutty cheerleader.
Jay swore it was a conspiracy against him, and Metis was in on it with the whole school. And Charles was the one who started it.
The worst part was Jay kind of liked dressing up the way Charles wanted him to. He mostly liked the part where Charles was paying attention to him, and acknowledging him. Jay just wanted Charles to like him, and if submitting to all the humiliation Charles threw his way would do that, he'd do it. It could be considered masochistic but this was the point where Jay didn't care about labels. If Charles liking him would stop the pain of thinking Charles might not care about him or even hate him, he'd do it.
Despite that, Jay was pretty sure he hated Halloween. Unless Charles really liked him for it, then it would be completely different.
