This is only like five hundred words, and it probably sucks, but Lola and Ellie are my faves and I finally thought of a way for them to meet so.. (also kinda builds off the Spin/Lola friendship from my story Little Talks)

Ellie answered the door to Spinner's loft above the Dot, the past person she expected to see was a 5' teenager with a mess of dark red curls and tears streaming down her cheeks, "I-is Spinner here?"

"No, he's out. But you can come in," Ellie gestured quickly, stepping aside and letting her in. The girl stumbled inside and made a beeline for the couch, immediately curling up on it, "You wanna talk? Spin might be a while."

A small nod as the girl nestled under a pile of blankets was all the answer Ellie got, and she sighed softly.

"You're Lola right? Last time we met you had purple hair."

"Felt like a change." Her voice was soft, muffled by the three or so blankets covering her head, but any response was better than none, and it spurred Ellie on.

"Yeah? I used to colour my hair a lot when I was younger. Yours is a lot more fashionable than my red and black streaks though."

Lola's head popped out from beneath the blanket, and a small smile quirked the corner of her lip up despite the drying tears.

"Yeah. It was bad," Ellie laughed, moving to sit on the arm of the couch down by Lola's feet, "but hey, high school's the place where you're allowed to make mistakes like that."

Lola's laugh had a bitter undertone to it, and she sat up to open the mini-fridge beside the couch, "I've made my fair share of mistakes."

Ellie considered telling the girl off for pulling out a beer, but she really didn't think it would do any good. Thankfully Spinner had apparently talked about Ellie's history with the stuff, because Lola offered her a bottle of coke that she was happy to accept, "You're not the only one, never forget that."

Lola just laughed and grabbed a bottle opener off the top of the fridge, popping the lid off and taking a swig, "When Spin gets drunk he talks about high school a lot. Did you guys really go to school with Craig Manning?"

Clearly Lola didn't want to talk about whatever was bothering her, which was fine, Ellie wouldn't push. "Yeah, well, speaking of mistakes.." she chuckled, cheeks growing red.

A cheeky smile spread across Lola's face as she sat up straight, "Is Craig Manning your ex?" she laughed.

Ellie rolled her eyes, "Um, not exactly. It's an on-again off-again thing." Lola's excitement at this revelation was practically palpable in the air around them, and she squealed as she clasped her hands together.

"He came to my school last year, but I didn't get to see him. You think you could sneak me backstage at a show?"

Ellie laughed and nodded, happy that Lola seemed happy for now, "Sure, I'll talk to Craig," she promised, hooking her pinky with Lola's when she stuck it out expectantly. She pulled her hand away and glanced down at the watch on her wrist, sighing, "It's getting late, kid, get some rest yeah? I've gotta go but Spin shouldn't be more than ten minutes."

"Don't call me kid," Lola pouted as she pulled away and buried herself back under the pile of blankets on Spinner's couch. Ellie highly doubted it would be the first time she'd slept on his couch, considering the bright pink, fluffy blanket that lay across her shoulders. She patted Lola lightly on the leg and stood up, scribbling a note for Spinner explaining Lola's presence and sticking it to the door before she left, walking out into the dark night of Toronto aimlessly.
