Trace, the young swordsman, faced off against Albel, the wild samurai warrior that had slain Trace's father, cutting his head off, a fountain of blood, grisly and horrifying, spouting from his neck, right in front of a terrified 7-year old Trace. But, after 10 years of wandering and training, Trace had finally found Albel again…

As of yet, neither had drawn their blade, each sizing up the other, one with eyes filled with rage and hate, the other with eyes filled with bloodlust. The pair had faced off in the main thoroughfare of a large town, the scene drawing many a crowd of terrified, yet intrigued, onlookers. The dark clouds that had been hovering overhead, seemingly captivated by the scene, broke loose with a light drizzle. As if it was the signal, both combatants drew their blades simultaneously and charged, crashing together in a whirlwind of flowing silver sword, counterbalanced by a blade that was dark as night, each vying for an upperhand. Try as he might though, Trace, with his silver blade, just couldn't land any blows at all on Albel, laughing all the while with maddening glee.

"You maggot, you challenged me, with just this skill!? You don't stand a prayer, worm!" Albel mocked, skillfully sidestepping a downward slice, his katana deftly slicing open Trace's left shoulder, blood soaking his shirt.

"You monster…I'll kill you!" Trace bellowed, slicing at Albel's neck, another attack that was easily dodged and countered.

"It would seem that I overestimated you, maggot! I hoped that you would have even half the skill that your father possessed…" Albel gloated, his katana at Trace's jugular, yet not breaking the skin by the slimmest of margins. "You could never hope to best me, maggot! I could kill you right now, but easy wins have never been my style. You're free to go, but push your luck and I'll kill you, maggot."

Trace could do nothing but grimace as Albel mockingly dug his blade slightly into Trace's throat, just enough to cut the skin slightly, before Albel turned on his heel and left, thrusting his katana into its sheath abruptly.

"Such is the strength of Albel Nox, the strongest swordsman in the Airyglyph army…" Kara, a girl the same age as Trace, said from behind him, bandaging up his wounds to stop the bleeding.
