"My name is Zircon. I'm a member of a team of people known as the Crystal Gems. You probably haven't heard of us despite the fact that we've been on this planet for millennium. Wait! I'm getting ahead of myself! The stuff we do can best be described as fighting evil creatures around the globe although in reality it's much more complex than that. I won't bog you down on the details of it though. If you remember, I said that I was part of a team. Well, let me tell you about the others. First, there's Garnet. She's typically pretty quiet and keeps to herself. However, despite her introversion she is a pretty good leader. Then there's Amethyst. She tends to get on everyone's nerves from time to time, but she's still an essential part of the team. Without her, we would have a serious lack of strength. Finally, we have the ever graceful Pearl. Without her, I'd probably be afraid to step foot in the house. She goes around and makes sure things are clean. Not because she has to, but because she wants to. It's a bit weird, but it's one of her charms."
"Hey, Zircon! Don't forget about me!" Zircon gets literally pulled out of his speech by a young boy with curly hair and a red shirt with a star in the middle of it who tugged on his arm.
"Oh! Hey Steven! How long have you been standing there?" Zircon started to sweat nervously as he had actually forgotten about the boy.
"Not too long! Who were you talking to? I don't see anyone out there..." Steven looked out across the ocean trying to locate an audience of some sort.
Zircon smiled at him and rubbed his hair. "I'm not quite sure myself... Somethings, I just like to imagine what it'd be like sharing our story with everyone on the planet... Imagine how it would change the world!"
Steven smiled back at him. "Well, then why don't you? People in Beach City know who you guys are."
"It would cause too big a change in society around the world. Besides, even if a small group of people such as the residents of Beach City know then that's enough for me and your mother wouldn't have approved of it." Zircon's smile faded into a melancholy frown. "I still miss her sometimes, you know..."
Steven looked up at Zircon and his smile grew even bigger. "I know how to cheer you up! Wait here!" He then ran off without giving the male gem a chance to respond.
"Oh! Steven. Your presence alone is enough to do that." Zircon smiled as he watched the half gem run off towards Beach City.
