Author's note: I am sorry for how long it took me to update this forum but I was going through personal problems and had difficulty finding the muse to write but thanks to a good friend of mine I was able to pick this up again. I hope you all enjoy the new updated and rewritten version of Bloodbath Kingdom. Thank you!
Umbrella.
A name that has haunted a great many of people and even the history books since the tragic Raccoon City incident. A name the truly started the age of bio terrorism and even with it's collapse did nothing to stop it. Granted, many tried and put up a good fight worthy of being called heroes in their own rights.
But evil is not so easy to kill.
It had lots of ups and downs, but finally the world entered into relative peace from all the fighting after Neo Umbrella fell. Granted, there is signs of B.O.W.s being used and viral experiments gone wrong like from Utah. But the number and exposure is few are far between these days thanks to BSAA and the new Umbrella that has been resurrected.
After the disaster the last company using that name had caused, people were obviously skeptical and wary of this group. Only the clearance from the Government kept the public somewhat calm about the whole thing.
A sentiment shared mainly by BSAA members, the founders themselves, and the DSO.
Regardless, the world was looking much better now and people were finally starting to believe that things would be okay.
How little did they know the true storm of darkness was just starting to form.
To show the world what TRUE evil really looks like.
(Scene break)
A jeep is seen rolling down the dirt roads with ease deeper into the haunted looking forest. The trees were bare of any leaves and almost looked dead. The driver is a Caucasian man that has a rugged but slightly chiseled face with a scar on his left cheek. Wearing a black leather jacket with a back T-shirt underneath, combat pants, and steel toe combat boots. A Samurai Edge pistol in his gun holster strapped to his outer right thigh was the only weapon visible upon him at first inspection of anyone looking at him.
The driver was looking for any signs of his destination with eyes narrowed in focus. Though he subtly glances toward his only passenger sitting in the passenger seat.
Where a young Caucasian woman is slim, small in the chest with light gray/bluish eyes with dark red hair. She keeps it in a pixie style, long in the front and short in the back. She has pale skin with with freckles on her nose. She does of a birth mark on her wrist that is kept covered by fingerless glove on her left hand. She wears a tank top and skinny jeans with combat boots. She wears a belt with some pouches attached to it. She has a combat knife, a Glock 9 hand gun that is holstered on her hip.
Said woman was looking forward keeping a tough front, but the driver could see she was troubled. Her mother had the same look on her face whenever she too was troubled.
"You know, Lanna," the driver began to the now confirmed Lanna, "you don't have to come in there with me. I've got experience in these things and your parents will kill me if they find out you died trying to help me. If you stay in the truck and wait for me to get back, you'll be much safer." The driver said in hopes of reasoning with the young woman for what felt like the hundredth time.
Even though it's only been the third time in the last three hours. Damn woman was every bit as stubborn as her parents combined.
Lanna had been silent during the ride to their destination, her mind wondering to her parents who had been kidnapped a few weeks ago. She was only seventeen, still young and one of the youngest members of BSAA. She was still in training by the man who she thought of as an uncle, Chris. She sighed a bit, rubbing a hand over her face. "Jake...I have to find them. Mom is pregnant with Matthew and you know me. I can't sit by, chewing on my nails while everyone else is looking for them." She looked at him and gave a small smile. "I have to pull my own weight as well."
Lanna was a bit of a worrier and had been to do some stupid stunts during training and that had gotten her into trouble at times but she had always pulled through it. But this was real, it wasn't a training session. She would have to take her training and use it. She sighed a bit, looking out the window. "Why them though? Mom and dad don't have that many connections to the BSAA or New Umbrella. Dad works for the president and mom has been leave from Terrasave." She ran a hand through her bangs, sighing a bit.
Jake couldn't help sighing in a mix between resignation and frustration. It truly made no sense and it only got worse when the big hero, Chris Redfield, and his wife, Jill Valentine, both got kidnapped as they went looking for Lanna's parents.
It all reeked of a set up and Jake knew he should've let the BSAA or the DSO clean up their own messes. But looking into Lanna's sad eyes and Sherry being so distressed from their kidnapping. He couldn't ignore it and continue with his mercenary ways pretending nothing was wrong. So he pooled his resources and called what favors he had from anyone he knew. Thankfully he had a bite, but not in a way he liked.
Turns out there is some strange activity and rumors going around in a place Leon did a mission in the past. Rumors of monsters and mysterious disappearances, but what got his attention was mentions of a man and woman in BSAA uniform being seen carried into the village. But despite the BSAA going to check it, they found nothing there.
Not even a single person was in the village.
Normal people would view this as a dead end, but Jake knew better. People don't just disappear without a trace in a village that is still the cause of rumors. They had to be there or been there, which meant information at the very least and a whole lot of trouble at worst.
Making Jake's situation with the stubborn Lanna all the more frustrating for him. Restraining himself from saying any curse words as he knew any he said, she would tell her mother about and he was three curse words away from losing his bet with Claire. He REALLY wanted to win that bet and not lose any more money to the damn swear jar.
"I understand that, Lanna, I do. If it was my mom, I'd be no better." Jake began searching for the right words in one last hope of convincing her of how serious this possible shit storm could turn out to be. The fact he couldn't curse made it harder, not that he would admit it.
"But you have to understand that while I'm good and WILL protect you, I don't want you going into this blindly thinking everything will just be fine. I learned the hard way that battlefields can be cruel and survival is never guaranteed. I just don't want you to be added to that list." Jake finished waiting to see how she'll handle this bombshell. He hated admitting any signs of weakness, but he couldn't act cocky this time. This isn't like with Sherry back in Edonia or in China, this is with Claire and Leon's daughter who is still in training.
Lanna looked at him, hearing his tone. She knew he wasn't the hard ass that he used to be when he first met Sherry. "Jake...I have to. I have to do this. I know what could be in store and I'm not blind about what condition they could be in. You all have taught me that nothing is for sure when it comes to B.O.W's or the viruses. I'm not blind." She sighed.
"Dad taught me about what happened here...with Saddler, Salazar, Mandez, Luis, looking for Ashley, fighting Krauser and meeting that woman, Ada Wong. I have the maps and info that dad collected here." She looked out the window. "I have a feeling that what we find here...will lead to my parents, Chris, Jill...and who is behind it all."
Lanna was stubborn but she was passionate and carried an inner knowledge that not many teens held at that age. Her parent's coddled her, wanting to hide her away from the horrors but found it futile when Lanna hacked into private files of the BSAA and learned about Wesker and the other mad men and women that wanted to control the world and confronted her parents about this.
Jake honestly felt impressed to see her handling this so maturely and ready for anything, but a part of him couldn't help feeling worried. His attention shifts as he saw the rope bridge Lanna told him would lead to the cabin before the village.
"Well, Lanna, looks like we'll see how ready you are." Jake said bring the jeep to a stop a few feet away from the bridge and parked in reverse. Just in case the need a quick getaway, they could always jump in and run full speed without worries. Getting out of the jeep, they both made their way to the back and opened the trunk to show some guns Jake had in a secure box. The glass showing the guns was bulletproof and the case itself was reinforced steel to prevent easy theft. Inside was a 12 gauge shotgun, AK 47, An Elephant Killer, and a few grenades for good measure.
"Take your pick, kid, but the Elephant Killer is mine." Jake said taking his favorite magnum with a cocky smile as he quickly loaded the bullets.
Lanna smirked as she took the shotgun as she already had her handgun with her and picked up some extra bullets and took two grenades. "Tsk, I wouldn't want to take your baby." She stuck her tongue out at him jokingly and picked up some herbs as well for her med kit. She turned to look at the cabin and pulled out a picture from her stash in her pouch. She looked at it and than back at the cabin.
"Jake...this is the same cabin that started it all for dad" she said and frowned a bit. It should have been more broken down, decaying but the building in front of them looked...the same. "How is that even possible..."
A crow cawed at them, breaking the eerie silence. Lanna shivered at the sound, feel like they were being watched by something but couldn't see it. "..."
"After what I've been through in Edonia and China, I'd say you have good reason to think that. This place smells just like Edonia." Jake said picking up the smell of dead bodies, but couldn't figure out where it was coming from. Though he had a sneaking suspicion the cabin could be where it was coming from. He then took the last grenade and the AK 47 for himself. Never know when a little crowd control might be needed.
Jake walks up to the cabin with Lanna in tow as they approached cautiously. Only stopping in front of the door as Jake held up a hand in a stopping gesture and listened in. Hearing the sounds of a fire and footsteps confusing him on how this could be. Remembering how his informant mysteriously disappeared after telling him about what he saw.
It was the other reason he never told Lanna he was here for. His informants were not people captured or killed easily as they are former mercenaries themselves. The fact the found something and disappears soon after was too suspicious in his mind.
"Lanna, stay out here and wait. If you see ANYONE coming here. I want you to come inside and tell me. I'll take a look inside and figure out what's going on." Jake orders knowing something was majorly wrong here, but figured it safer for her outside than inside. At least out here she has space to run around and fight.
Jake moved inside silently and quickly as he ducked behind a corner to spy a ragged looking old man. His back was turned to Jake, but that made things easier in his mind. He also suspected something was wrong, as while he wasn't close to Leon, he heard the story in bits and pieces that Lanna told him about.
Leon did a thorough job and the feds SHOULD have cleaned this village after the President's daughter was rescued. He wouldn't have been surprised if the place was leveled honestly, but here it was in the same order Leon left it and it had people again.
'Well, might as well see if he is infected or not.' Jake thought as he crept up behind the man until he was on the other side of the dining table. Not the best shield or stalling tactic, but it'd buy Jake enough time to shot him in the head if proven infected to some virus.
"Speak any English, amigo?" Jake asked having a bad feeling that he wasn't a normal human. Never hurts to make sure though, last thing he needs is to shoot an innocent civilian out of paranoia. The man turned slowly and Jake bit back a curse as he saw red eyes glaring at him.
Sometimes he hated being right.
Lanna waited outside, frowning a bit as she got that feeling of being watched again. She looked up and around, keeping her eyes open. Time seem to stop than as she shivered, feeling antsy. It was the same feeling she got whenever she was in training as the training were reenactments of real places where terror attacks had been, making the trainee's understand that no matter what, something could go wrong.
She stepped off the porch and towards the jeep to make sure nothing was wrong when she heard something behind her. Turning just in time, she dodged a pitch fork at her face and looked at the owner. She gasped softly, seeing a villager man with glowing red eyes and swore at her Spanish. She felt like someone had punched her in the stomach as a couple more came out of the trees, pointing at her and saying something along 'Claire' and 'Prisoner'.
"Claire...mom" she said and ducked another attack as she headed to the cabin. "Gotta warn Jake!"
THUD!
Lanna heard a loud slamming sound as she rushed into the room fearing the worst for Jake. Only to see him stomp a head into mush, much to her horror. Yes, she was trained for it, but she wasn't use to that kind of gore yet. Looking up Jake saw her and wipes the yellow blood off of his face.
"Lanna, what are you doing in-oh." Jake started before hearing the commotion outside. Looking out the window he could see people making their way for the door and quickly ushered Lanna up stairs. He only prayed they had a window to escape from or they'd have to hold their ground from the stairwell. Falling bodies on stairwells make it harder for others to climb after all.
"Please tell me you had a head count, Lanna." Jake said as he heard them bust open the door as he made it up stairs with her.
"Five" Lanna said as she ran in and looked at him. "Jake, they called me Claire and mentioned prisoner." She turned around to see the villagers heading to the door, yelling at them.
She frowned, trying not to lose it from when she saw him crack open the man's head like a watermelon. "They have to be here..."
This got Jake's attention as his head snapped to look at her. "You're certain of this?" Jake asked Lanna, which she nods in confirmation, Jake curses before spotting the bedroom with a window. He then moves Lanna toward the window in a hurry as he hears them enter the room and heading toward the stairs.
"We need to pincer these guys, Lanna. Jump out the window and shoot down any you see while I grab their attention up here." Jake orders as he pulls out his Samurai edge pistol.
Lanna nodded as she followed him up the stairs and looked at the window. "Right" she said a little nervous but it had to be done. She heard the villagers moving up the stairs slowly. "Well here goes nothing."
Taking a few steps back, she ran forward and ran out the window. Glass shattered outwards as she flew and started to fall, only to roll inwards to reduce damage and got to her knees. She looked up and saw the last of the villagers heading inside. She made her way behind them silently. She breathed slowly and pulled her gun out and aimed and fired at one.
Hearing the gunfire, Jake took the chance to jump out of the room and kick on at the top of the stairs in the head. Dazing the unfortunate villager and drawing their attention on two fronts, as Jake launched a second kick to the villager he hit. Knocking the idiot into his comrades and they all spilled into a tangle of limbs.
'Three' Jake noted as he shot at their fallen bodies for head shots. Killing all three quickly with blood spurting and coloring the wall behind them. 'The other two must still be down there.' Jake thought hurrying down stairs.
Lanna watched the one she had killed fall to the ground, shaking slightly as she couldn't believe she had killed someone but remembered what her father had told her about them. Swallowing, she looked up as the other two ran at her. She dodged and sent out a donkey kick at one villager, sending him crashing against the wall as she twirled her gun and shot at the second one, stunning him.
She lunged forward, tackling him to the ground and slammed her blade into his forehead and yelped as the last villager grabbed her from behind. Struggling, Lanna lifted her leg up and kicked him in the fore head. "Get off!"
As Jake came into the room. He was impressed to see her stab one in the head, but grew furious and protective to see the last one grab Lanna. Charging forward, he was pleased to see her kick the infected villager in the forehead. As the villager was dazed, Jake tripped the man and raised his leg high up, before slamming down on his skull. Smashing it to mush like the first villager he killed and after a quick look around confirmed they were all dead.
He focused his attention to a recovering Lanna, he could see she was slightly shaken by the experience, but was thankfully without any serious injuries. "You okay, Lanna?" Jake asked wanting to be sure her mental state could continue or if she really did have to wait in the jeep. No way in hell was he risking her mental state doing this if he knew she couldn't handle the pressure. Things like this were not for the faint of heart for a reason.
Lanna panted softly as she heard the crunch of the skull and looked up to see Jake there. She was shaken by what happened, she wouldn't lie about it. She nodded. 'Yeah, just a bit shaken" she said honestly. She mentally shook herself and flexed her fingers as she pulled her blade out and wiped it clean on the villager. "I'll be fine."
She stood up slowly and looked around and looked at him. "What about you? Not hurt are you?"
Jake looked at her in sympathy as he heard she was a bit shaken, an understandable reaction to those not use to it. Only to scoff and put on his cocky smirk as he heard her question.
Him? Hurt? By these light weights?
Please, these guys couldn't hold a candle to that damn Ustanak.
"Nah, I'm built like a tank." Jake answered both to assure her he was fine and to enjoy how similar the answer is to when he was with Sherry all those years ago.
Lanna chuckled at that, shaking her head. "Yeah and so is your ego" she joked as she started to feel better and looked at the dead villagers, a hand on her hip. "Someone...could they have started the Los Illuminados again?" She looked at her partner and friend. "Someone could have found the Las Plagas..."
She remembered her dad saying that Ada Wong had taken a sample...
"It's possible, but I don't think it's that simple." Jake murmured as he heads to the stairwell again. "Let's check around and see if these assholes left us any clues."
Once Jake got to the stairwell, he saw a door there where the smell of death was coming from and to his horror was his former informant. Dead as can be with his guts seemingly missing due to a hole in his stomach, blood flowing down the body, and his face in an expression of horror. 'Oh God...Those sick fucks.' Jake thought paling as he struggled to keep his own lunch.
Seeing Lanna coming Jake bars the way so she doesn't have to see it.
"Whoa whoa whoa. I think you should check up stairs. Just...trust me on this one, okay?" Jake says hastily hoping to spare her from seeing this nightmarish sight.
Lanna nodded as she followed him up to the stairs. She blinked when he stopped and bared her way. "Huh?" she asked and saw his face. It looked a bit paler than normal and nodded. "Alright" She could tell he had seen something that really bugged him.
She patted his arm gently as she headed up the stairs slowly. She looked at the dead villagers and bent down next to one, patting it's pockets and found nothing. She searched the other and didn't find anything. She sighed a bit, running a hand through her hair and blinked as she found something in the corner.
Lanna walked towards it and picked it up. It was a badge of sorts that looked like someone who was a mercenary would wear. "What the hell...?" she asked. "Hey, Jake! I found something!"
Jake watched Lanna go up the stairs and start checking the bodies before turning his gaze back to his former informant. They usually never expect to die pleasant deaths if caught, but this was a one of the darker ways the could die.
Honestly it sickened him to see someone he once considered a comrade and friend to die like this. He closed the poor man's eyes out of respect and pity for the suffering he must have endured. He quickly checked his pockets knowing that he must've found something to warrant them trying to kill him and pulled out a flash drive hidden in a secret pocket.
Hearing Lanna's call though, he decided to check it after seeing what had gained Lanna's attention enough to call him over.
"What's up? Find anything useful?" Jake asks hoping for good news.
Lanna looked at him and handed over the badge. "This" she said. The badge wasn't BSAA or any of the organizations that were the good guys or well known. It belonged to one of his friends and it had specks of blood on it. "Does this look familiar to you?" She looked at him, head tilted. It didn't make sense to her.
Jake could only look at the badge with sadness and regret recognizing it as his former informant's badge.
"Yeah...Remember how I told you an informant of mine seen two members of BSAA get taken into here and had some suspicious rumors? It's his..." Jake informed Lanna as he pocketed the badge and mentally promised himself to give him a burial if he could find the time to after all of this was finished.
Lanna sighed and nodded. "I'm sorry, Jake..." she murmured, knowing it was hard to lose a friend. "I remember." She had an idea of who it was downstairs that he didn't want her to see.
She sighed and looked around. "We...better get going. These lugs don't hold much info as to who we're dealing with" she said looked at him. "You gonna be alright?"
"I'll be fine, but we should check this flash drive. Apparently they didn't find it on him when I checked his hidden pockets and while I know the odds are slim. We need all the info we can get." Jake said not wanting to think about his dead comrade too deeply right now and stay focused on helping Lanna on her rescue mission.
He could mourn for his fallen comrade later. When they were all safe and out of this hellhole.
Pulling out his phone, he loaded the drive and checked it for saved images. Only to widen his eyes at the sight of an imprisoned Claire and Leon in some sort of dungeon. Plus another image of Jill being kept in a cage separate from Chris in another cage across from her own. 'This I can imagine them killing him for getting his hands on.' Jake noted in his mind before deciding to show Lanna the news she needs to know.
"Lanna, it looks like the reason they wanted my informant dead is because he found who we are looking for." Jake said showing her the phone with the images still on the screen.
"You mean besides the ganados being back, the whole place looking the same as your father left it, or about how we still don't know who kidnapped them or why? Cause way I see it...This whole mission is turning into one big cluster.." Jake trailed off remembering his bet with Claire and Lanna was right in front of him. He had to avoid the F, G.D., and the M.F. words no matter what.
"Look point is, we need answers and I don't think we are going to find any in this cabin. Might as well head out to the village, but let's stick close to the tree for recon first." Jake said finally making up his mind on what they needed to do first. Information on the enemy is important and they couldn't afford to be recklessly charging in.
Lanna nodded. "Agreed" she said and pulled out the old map, placing it on the table. "The village is not far really, practically a hop and skip." She looked at him. "So far things have been the same as dad left it but we can't be sure." There was a gate up a head on the map and beyond it was the village. "Who else are we gonna meet up on this crazy mission...?"
"Who knows at this point, but let's hope for some luck. Cause right now I am NOT feeling the love." Jake said humorously while secretly hoping for some good luck. This entire mission so far is making him feel like he was being chased by Ustanak all over again.
Lanna nodded and packed away the map. "Alright, let's get going" she said as she left the cabin and started down the trail, keeping close to the trees. "Heh, some good luck would be nice right about now" She had heard stories from Jake about the Ustanak and had some nightmares about it but never told anyone but had suspected that her parents knew as well as Sherry and Jake.
Crows cawed at them from the skies as tendrils of fog swirled around their boots. Dead leaves were crunched under them as the two made their way to the gate.
"Alright, Lanna let's just open this and...What is that?" Jake said turning around to face her and feeling a sense of dread crawl up his spine at the glowing fiery object rushing downward near their direction.
"Alright" Lanna said and stopped as she heard Jake. She looked at Jake and shivered, looking up at the sky as she saw the object coming right toward them. "Oh shi-run!"
Breaking into a sprint, both Lanna and Jake hurried off into the trees and dove in. Feeling the heat and rushing wind as the ship sailed past them. Slamming into the dirt path the had taken to get to the gate and destroyed part of the cabin as they crashed into it. Seeing the cabin on fire, they weren't sure what to do or say. Until they saw a body jumping out of the flames carrying something, before jumping back in.
"Lanna? Please tell me I'm not the only one who is seeing this." Jake asked in a pleading tone as he saw the body jump out again and carry what appears to be two humanoids with it. They were too far to tell, but they knew all three were humanoid at least.
Lanna panted heavily as she felt the heat and wind against them. Raising her head, she looked up to see the thing crash into the building and the flames engulfing it. She gasped as she saw the humanoid figures coming out the ship. She wasn't sure what to make of it. She shook her head, blinking her eyes and even went as far as pinching them both.
"Holy cow...your not the only one seeing it, Jake...I see them too. What the hell are they?"
(Scene change Gummi ship 3 minutes ago.)
Out in a space a multi colored ship made of gummi blocks was seen coming out of warp drive to Earth. Once they got past the satellites, being careful not to hit any, the ones inside observed the readings trying to figure out where to land.
"Man this world is HUGE! Where are we gonna start looking for Riku and Kairi in all of this?!" A young man exclaimed seeing the huge blue and green world before them. It was easily the biggest world he's even been to yet! The young man has blues eyes, caramel brown spiky hair that went in all directions, slightly tanned Caucasian skin, while wearing a black and silver outfit that, while remaining baggy, is like his original outfit from a year ago. It contains a darker style using many zippers and extra leggings but still retains his crown necklace. This young man is Sora, chosen wielder of the keyblade and one of the few who destroyed Organization XIII.
Next to him and in the pilot seat is a bipedal duck in a mainly blue outfit with yellow accents on it. While the one behind them is a Bipedal dog with green shirt and yellow pants. These two are Donald and Goofy. The King's best friends and close friends to Sora.
Donald, the duck, squawked. "Be careful, Sora! Those things in the sky don't look overly friendly!" he said pointing and frowned a bit, looking a bit comical. He glared at the weird looking machines as he stayed in his seat.
Goofy, the dog, looked at the machines, confused. "Look at those...things on it. They're reflecting the sun. Oh! What's that pretty red light on one of them?"
"Who knows, Goofy" Donald said and looked at the new planet. "Maybe we can find a map of the place?" He looked at the map on the console and grew even more confused. "It's not even listed on here"
(Scene change?)
"When you told me that their ship looked like. I honestly thought you was joking."
"One thing you'll learn about me, is that I don't joke. Now are you going to kill them with your toy already? I hope you remember our deal?"
"Of course, just hang on."
(Scene change outer space with the gummi ship)
"Guys...Why is the one with a red light pointing at us now?" Sora asked feeling nervous seeing the machine turn to face them and the red light glowing brighter.
"Um...not sure but I don't think it's friendly..." Donald said nervously. "I think we should leave like...now!" He said as the light grew brighter and brighter now.
The light only grew brighter with each passing second as the Gummi ship moved and the red light shot at the ship.
The ship rocked violently as the shields, much to their horror, was drained to zero from the one shot and the engine was damaged. Now causing the ship to be pulled into the atmosphere "What kind of laser is that?!" Sora asked in shock, before falling into his seat trying to put on the seat belt.
Donald grunted as he readied their own laser and aimed. "I don't know! I've never seen one like it!" he said, struggling with the controls, squinting with his tongue out as he locked on to the satellite and fired. The laser hit the satellite, making it explode.
"Hold on to something!"
Sora and Goofy both did as told as they saw their ship fly over a gate and slam into the dirt. Knocking all three of their heads around like bobbles before the ship crashed into the cabin. It took Sora a bit to shake the cobwebs out, but he soon was greeted to sounds of the fire alarm going off.
With the entire ship on fire and the cockpit window badly damage. Donald and Goofy both knocked out as Sora quickly summoned his Kingdom Keyblade. Bashing the window away and pulling Donald out, before jumping through the flames and into the yard of the once upon a time cabin. Once he had Donald safely down on the ground and recovering, he jumped in after Goofy and did the same for him too. "Good, they should be okay. Now where are we?" Sora asked himself looking around.
Looking around Sora couldn't help shivering in slight dread feeling like something was watching him. This place felt like a rip off of Halloween Town, but something about the air made you feel more...in danger than Halloween Town ever did.
Lanna frowned as she crouched down and moved closer to the crash sight, wanting to get a closer look as she hid behind a bush. Her eyes widened a bit as she saw a boy, a year younger than her standing there next to the burning ship. She was confused as well, wondering where he and his friends had come from.
Donald and Goofy groaned as they started to wake up. Donald sat up, rubbing his head while Goofy looked well goofy and spacey as he looked around in a daze.
"Where are we...?" Donald asked slowly, looking around. "Sora? Goofy?"
Goofy grunted a bit. "I'm fine...hayuck, this place is giving me the creeps" he said standing slowly, rubbing his head. Donald looked around. "The gummi ship!" he squawked. "The king will be so mad!"
Sora smiled seeing his friends up and alright. "Hey, guys. Sorry about the ship, but there was nothing I could do to save it. So I focused on getting us out safely first. You two okay?" Sora asked concerned for his two friends as he kept an eye out for any trouble. Jake and Lanna watching from nearby unsure what to do.
"We're fine Sora" Goofy said nodding and smiled a bit, looking around as he did looked worried. "This is worse than Halloween Town..."
Lanna frowned, hearing what they were talking about. Halloween Town? Donald? Goofy? It didn't make any sense as they were talking about Disney characters and Disney movies like they were real! She looked at Jake, confusion on her face and looked back at the others. She pulled her gun out slowly as she made her way to the next bush, getting closer still, watching the three beings as they looked confused just as much as they were.
"I'm gonna talk to them" She said and left the safety of the bushes as she kept her gun lowered, walking towards them slowly. "Freeze!"
Jake tried to stop her, unsure if this was smart or not. Sure, he thought they were crazy talking about Disney characters like they were real, even crazier they looked SO much like them.
Seeing Lanna move in though, he could only follow her example and pull out his gun if only to back her up if needed.
Upon hearing the command all three froze, which was good in Jake's mind. Less problems if they cooperate.
"Uh...Excuse me, miss? If this is about the cabin we hit. I assure you this is all an accident and we can explain." Sora called out from his froze position as he tried to glance toward Lanna without moving. Which quickly proved hard to do as she and Jake were behind him.
Donald and Goofy froze as well, hearing the command. Who were behind them?
"Turn around slowly" Lanna said, keeping her gun out as Donald and Goofy turned around slowly with Sora, staring at her and Jake. "The cabin? It's useless, but who are you people and why did you come out of a space ship?"
She looked at the three of them, keeping her eyes and ears open as she wasn't sure if they were good or bad.
"Um...well miss..." Goofy said. "I'm Goofy and these are my friends, Donald and Sora."
"Lanna, they HAVE to be B.O.W.s, there is no way a normal person could walk that off and two of them look like Disney characters to boot." Jake whispered to Lanna, not wanting them to overhear him as honestly he didn't trust them at all.
Sora would've introduced himself, but for some reason felt himself drawn to the young woman before him. He didn't voice any thoughts though, trying to figure out why seeing this young woman made him feel the same as Kairi used to when they were kids.
"We can't be sure yet" Lanna whispered back and looked at Sora, feeling drawn to him. Something about this boy screamed pure and innocent, friendly even. She let her eyes roam over him slowly.
"What are you doing here? And how in the hell did you survive?" She could not think of them being B.O.W's but it was a possibility.
"We were shot down by a laser" Donald said with a huff as he glanced toward the ship in frustration.
"A laser? You mean to tell me some other ship shot you down or was it some top secret satellite?" Jake asked sarcastically not buying the laser thing one bit. Engine trouble he'd buy easier or maybe a system failure, but a laser? If it was another ship was one thing, but their satellites rarely had lasers from what little intel he could find about it.
"Yeah, how'd you know it was a satellite?!...Uh...mister?" Sora started excited at Jake "believing" them, making Jake and Donald facepalm for missing the sarcastic tone, before trailing off unsure of his name.
"It's Jake and don't forget it." Jake said as he lowered his hand giving the young man a glare. To which Sora gave a sheepish smile not sure what he did wrong, but hoping to ease things between them.
Lanna lowered her gun, frowning a bit as she thought. "A satellite...?" she murmured. "I guess it could be possible..." She felt off and wanted to believe them.
"What is your name miss?" Goofy asked in a friendly tone.
"Lanna Scarlet Kennedy" she said. "And you already met, Jake." She nudged her friend, looking at him. "Jake, what do you think? Either they're good actors or they're telling the truth." She whispered.
Jake really didn't like it, but Lanna was right. Everything they said and did spoke volumes of genuine feelings. Even though Sora was clearly kind of dense in Jake's mind, he figured they were at least friendly.
"Fine, but we really need to go. That crash is BOUND to have gotten some of the infect villager's attention, along with the kidnapper." Jake whispered back to Lanna. Wanting to get out of the open to avoid any trouble that, in all due respect of the universe, could come to investigate.
Lanna nodded, looking grim. "I know" she said and checked the ammo in her magazine. She didn't want to leave Sora or his group behind as it was dangerous.
"Wait! We're looking for our friends" Goofy said as Sora nodded quickly.
"Have you seen them? There is a silver haired guy, he's Riku, and a redhead girl named Kairi! They've been kidnapped and we came here to this world looking for them." Sora explained quickly, seeing they were about to go somewhere. He didn't know why, but he didn't want Lanna to go just yet or at least he wanted to go wherever they were going.
Lanna stopped and turned to look at him. "Your friends were kidnapped?" She asked, surprised and sighed, running a hand through her hair. "This has turned complicated..." She looked at Jake.
"We can help you" Goofy said.
Donald nodded. "We can fight."
Jake knew that look, Lanna wanted to help these three. Sighing in resignation, he figured it'd be best to keep them close...for now.
"Alright, they can come with us." Jake agreed earning a cheer from Sora, with a smile from Donald and Goofy. "BUT you have to follow our lead and do what we say. We're the locals here and I am not gonna let you endanger Lanna's life by doing something stupid." Jake said quickly making Sora quiet down, before he nods in agreement with his terms.
"That's alright, so what's the first move, Jake?" Sora asked before they heard the sound of a mob heading for them. Looking toward the gate, they see a bunch of angry villagers heading for them. Making Jake curse as he pulled up his AK 47 before stepping in front of Lanna who was about to draw her weapon.
"Lanna, get these three to safety first, then come back me up. I can hold them on my own until you do." Jake ordered before opening fire on the ganados rushing toward them. Taking care to shoot some in the legs to trip them and the ones behind them for extra time.
Lanna looked at Jake and nodded. She looked at Sora and the others. "Follow me" she said quickly and headed to the forest. Goofy and Donald were confused but the three followed after her. Lanna took one look at Jake before disappearing from sight. "Stay close" She said, keeping her gun out. She knew Jake could take care of himself but didn't want to leave him for too long.
"Is your friend going to be okay?" Goofy asked, worried.
Lanna looked at him. "For now but he will need back up. I have to go back for him once I find a place to keep you out of sight till we're finished." She found a small cabin away from the gate and looked around inside, making sure it was clear. She checked the closets and under the rotting beds before motioning them forward. "Stay here till I come back, okay? And stay out of sight" She started to move past Sora.
"Wait!" Sora asked grabbing her arm gently, but firmly to show his determination. "Like Goofy and Donald said earlier, we can help you. We can fight by your side against these guys." Sora said hoping to convince Lanna that he could help them.
BAM
Sora, Donald, Goofy, and Lanna all looked out the door where the loud explosive noise came from. Sora, Donald, and Goofy not sure what caused the explosion. While Lanna knew it must have been the last grenade Jake kept for himself. "Take that assholes!"
Well, that confirmed he was still alive at least.
Lanna looked at Sora as she stopped and sighed. "Sora..." she said. "You can't save these people...they're too far gone." She wasn't sure if he knew that as he still screamed innocence, more than her. "We don't want you to get hurt." She was touched that he wanted to help and went to say more when she heard the explosion.
She smirked as she heard Jake, not really caring about his swearing at the moment. She sighed. "Fine but don't get hurt" she said and gently pulled her arm away and ran out the door.
"Come on!" Goofy and Donald ran after her.
Sora wasn't sure what she meant by too far gone. They clearly weren't heartless yet, but he put it to the back of his mind for now. Helping Lanna and Jake came first.
Once outside they could see Jake gunning down three villagers, before he ran out of ammo for his AK. Forcing him to eject the magazine as he backed up with a few short leaps. Trying to load the new magazine when he finally saw them.
"Lanna! What are they still doing here?!" Jake called as he ducked a thrown pitchfork.
"Worry about that later!" Lanna said as she took a few shots at one villager, killing it and threw her knife into the back of one that had gotten too close to Jake. Running forward, she jumped onto the back of another villager, grabbing his head and yanked downwards, snapping the neck. She landed on her feet, giving Jake time to reload.
"Are you okay?" she asked and yelped in surprise when another villager turned to ice. "The hell?!"
"What the fuck?!" Jake cursed, before mentally wincing at his slip up. Praying to whatever higher force their is Lanna doesn't tell her mother, before turning his attention to Sora running ahead with Donald and Goofy. Oddly Sora was wielding a large key shaped sword and the duck has a staff, both of their weapon's tips were glowing blue.
"Freeze/Blizzard!" Sora and Donald both shout freezing multiple villagers in their tracks. The remaining three trying to head for the distracted duo. "Behind you Sora!" Jake warns shooting down two with head shots as the last one closes in.
Goofy had his shield up, ready to defend himself as the villagers head exploded, the body falling to the ground.
Lanna held her smoking gun, eyes dark from concentrating. She looked like her father did than when he was in the survival mode, calm and cold.
"Whoa...thanks Lanna!" Goofy said though he was rather surprised at what happened and the intent to kill on the villagers face.
"So what do we do about these guys?" Sora asked, before hearing gunshots as Jake shot them all. Making them crumble to pieces as Sora and Donald both look surprised at his actions.
"That is what you do when your enemies are frozen. Trust me when I say a little cold like that won't stop them forever and they'll be pissed once free from the ice." Jake said knowing from experience that those infected never back down, but can be made angrier than before.
Lanna nodded. "Now that we have them out of the way" she said and looked at Sora and Donald. "Was that ice that you just used on them?"
"Well yeah...we can do magic" Goofy said chuckling. "It comes in handy!"
Lanna frowned and went up to Sora. "How? It's impossible to do magic here. Magicians are just master of illusions. You are different"
"It's not impossible, Lanna, I'll even show you. Pick a target and I'll show you some examples of my magic." Sora said spreading his arms out to show her he was willing to wait for her to pick a target.
"This ought to be good." Jake murmured watching this skeptically, but also interested as he too had no explanations of how else they could of turned their enemies into ice sculptures.
"Perfect." Sora said grinning as he raised his keyblade and aimed at the tree. The tip of the keyblade turning red like the metal was super heated. "Fire!" Sora shouts as he channels his magic into his keyblade's tip and a small fireball shoots out slamming into the tree. Setting the part hit by the fireball on fire, much to Jake and Lanna's shock. Sora wasn't done yet as he channels magic and the tip glows blue once more with an icy mist around his keyblade's tip.
"Blizzard!" Sora shouts and this time an ice crystal spear flew toward the tree tree and went through it like a ghost. Leaving no damage, but putting out the flame and freezing the tree bark previously on fire. Seeing his work was done, he turned to Lanna and Jake grinning like the cat who got the canary.
"Well? What do you think?" Sora asked hoping they were impressed and not gonna freak out.
Goofy and Donald grinned, looking at their new friends.
Lanna was silent, watching the display. "..." She wasn't sure what to say! "Ah...Jake...am I dreaming...?" She asked, her eyes wide. She thought .s were just monsters when she was a child, before she hacked the computers and her parents found out. But this had just opened her eyes more, making her realize that there was something much bigger than living and breathing weapons around.
Swallowing, she looked at Sora. "...Your...whoa..." she said and looked at him closely, poking his cheek. "Your real and that was impressive." She sighed and smiled.
Jake...was at a loss for words. Sure. He had no REAL way to explain them instantly turning people into ice, but...this?! Magic?! He never once thought he'd ever see real magic.
"Lanna...Unless we both are having the same dream, which I doubt, then I believe this is real." Jake said trying to wrap his head around this. B.O.W.s, viruses, and mad men bent on Godhood like his nut job of an old man was hard enough to accept. This, he swore he need a drink...or five.
"Sora blushed at her poking him, not sure why he liked her being so close and touching him, but accepted it with a smile. "Thanks! I admit I used the weakest versions of those two magic elements for your test, but I'm glad you're impressed."
At this, Jake paled at the thought of what Sora considered his strongest. While he didn't do much damage to the tree, he had a bad feeling his strongest magics must be truly destructive if Sora is playing off his show like this.
Lanna blinked as she started at Sora. "W-Weakest...?" she asked, blinking rapidly as she felt dizzy from that information. "I...ah...oh boy..." She fell to her butt, needing to think it through. She rubbed her temples, sighing. "Magic...who knew...next your gonna say you can walk on water..." She shook her head. "Sorry, that was rude of me. I thought the craziest thing that would happen was infected villagers, monsters or crazy people that want to control the world."
It was Donald's turn to look at them weirdly. "Monsters? What monsters?"
Lanna sighed and pulled out a picture and handed it Donald. "THAT monster" she said. The picture held a clear picture of a B.O.W. of a large reptile like monster that stood on it's hind legs. It was a Hunter. It had sharp teeth and claws with glowing yellow eyes.
Sora, Donald, and Goofy all looked at the picture in a mix of wonder and grimace at how vicious it looked. Nothing compared to some of the worst heartless they faced, but it's not a face you want to meet in a dark alley.
"That's one ugly monster I will admit, but we've seen worse. So do you need us to hunt these guys down or what?" Sora asked wondering what Lanna and Jake were here for.
Lanna looked serious. "Don't take it so lightly, Sora. They're worse then you can imagine" she said standing up. "We don't know if they're here or not but my parents are missing as well as two other members of the BSAA and that's why we're here." She pointed at the Villagers. "Those are only apart of a nuisance"
Donald raised a brow. 'They can't be that bad. We can fight"
"Can you kill?"
This got a sharp reaction out of Sora who looked troubled. Sure he'd killed heartless and monsters before, but people was not something he was use to.
"Well...We have killed powerful monsters and stuff in the past." Sora managed to admit.
Lanna nodded and sighed. 'Today...is my first real mission" she admitted. "And today was the first time I had to use a gun on someone that used to be human."
"Used to be? But they look normal! If not dirty and stinky" Goofy said looking at them.
"You make it sound like they aren't human anymore." Sora brought up wondering what Lanna meant. Jake seeing Lanna still processing her own actions decides to cut in for her sake. He knew first kills were always the hardest.
"She means that these guys lost their humanity and any sense of compassion once they got infected."
"Infected? With what and how does it make them not human? Can't you just treat them or something."
"I wish it were that easy, but unfortunately things are not so simple. Especially with viruses like the plaga, Uroboros, or the T virus for a few examples." Jake said sighing as he ran a hand on his head. Only to hear the phone ringing. Pulling it up, he saw it was Sherry's number. "One thing after another, at least it's Sherry though." Jake murmured before activating his phone's video chat.
"Jake here, how you doing, Supergirl?" Jake asked with a wary smile trying to process all the craziness he has seen so far, but not wanting to worry Sherry.
Lanna was silent as she was still processing this still and looked away from them.
Donald and Goofy were a bit confused by this, not understanding. "Viruses?"
Sherry chuckled a bit. "How is everything? It's been three hours since you left. Any progress?" she asked. A younger girl popped up and smiled. "Hi!" she said, waving.
"Hey, Elly." Jake said smiling at the other one of his favorite kids that he and Sherry babysits. "As for a report Sherry, I got good news, bad news, and...really weird news. Which do you want to hear first?" Jake said with a grimace toward the end knowing Sherry is in for the shock of her life...If she believes him and Lanna that is. Maybe he could have Sora show her his magic to make it more credible...
"Lanna? What's Jake talking about with these viruses and who is he talking to?" Sora asked gently seeing her troubled and wanting to help. But at the same time curious what Jake was doing.
Elly giggled as Sherry ruffled the girls hair affectionately. "Well...good news first' she said, wondering what her husband was talking about but figured he would tell her.
"He's talking to his wife, Sherry" Lanna said slowly. "The viruses is the reason for the Hunter and that's just one of the monsters created by them." She started to explain the different viruses to them and how it all started. She knew it would take a while to explain but gave them a rough history of it and about Umbrella.
"Alright, good news first. We have confirmed that Leon, Claire, Chris, and Jill are alive and in the area somewhere." Jake said more than happy to start with the good news as he overheard Lanna giving a rough estimate version of Umbrella's history. Internally hoping their new friends would be able to handle this as he could see in Lanna's eyes she was not gonna leave them alone.
And he was right, Lanna wasn't going to up and leave them in this world as he would know how scarring it could be in a situation, especially for those that had never experienced it.
Sherry sighed happily at that. 'Really? That's great!" she said as they could hear Elly in the background cheering about the news. Sherry smiled and looked at Jake. "How did you find out?"
It was this Jake turned a little grim. Remembering his fallen comrade and informant as he took a breath to steady himself.
"Sherry, you remember how I said I had contacts looking for info and one guy told me he heard rumors about a certain village Leon went to save the President's daughter? He came here found out they were carrying members of the BSAA in here, but when they checked it. They couldn't even find the locals my source swears he knows were here. So I came and checked it out...he was right, there are locals here. Hostile plaga infected locals that is and...they killed my informant for some pictures he managed to get. Pictures of Leon, Claire, Chris, and Jill imprisoned somewhere underground." Jake explained with a heavy heart as he kept a tough front. He trusts Sherry to see him at his weakest, but he'd never show weakness in front of Lanna or Elly if he could help it.
They needed him to be strong and save their parents and he wouldn't let them down.
Sherry looked shocked. "Jake...I'm sorry..." she said knowing he was close to his comrades despite his tough appearance. "Are you alright?" She looked worried but nodded as she heard about the others. She sighed. "That's some good news." She was glad that the others were there. "Do you know where they are from the pictures?"
"Unfortunately no, all I can tell is that Leon and Claire are in a dungeon. While Chris and Jill are in separate cages across from each other. I know from what Lanna told me there is a castle so that could be one place to check for dungeons, but I don't know anywhere they could be keeping the cages." Jake admitted with a confused look on his face.
"Though, the strange news comes...from some unexpected help." Jake tells her ready to let Sherry in on the biggest surprise he's ever had in all of his life.
Sherry nodded, biting her lower lip, thinking. "I see..." she said. "How is Lanna holding up?" She was concerned about the girl.
She blinked in confusion when Jake said that. "Huh? What do you mean?" she asked. "Help? Did you meet someone there?" She heard Lanna talking to someone.
"In order..." Jake began, "Lanna is hanging strong, but her first kill is taking an obvious effect. She just needs a minute from the look of things. As for the help...Sherry, I know this is gonna sound crazy, but, please, keep an open mind and understand I am NOT making this up." Jake said hoping to let her know how serious and crazy what he has to say is gonna be.
Sherry nodded at that. "Makes sense" she said and raised a brow at that. "Alright..." she said, wondering what he was going to tell her, unaware of how crazy things will turn out to be. Lanna looked towards Jake, nodding at him.
Jake nods back seeing Lanna's support.
"Sherry, we were almost hit by a falling spaceship that we mistook for a meteor. Once we went to check it out, we saw something I swear to God I wouldn't believe if I hadn't seen it for myself. Three...humanoid beings came out of the wreck, with one carrying the other two out of the flames. One more human than the other two." Jake explained deciding to keep this one bit at a time. Too much all at once might shock her or bombard him with endless questions.
Sherry was silent, listening as she stared at him with a blank face. "...A what?" she asked, not sure if she heard right. "Three humanoids? Jake...are you sure?" She knew he wasn't the type to lie or make up stories. But it did sound a bit far fetched.
Jake sighed completely understanding how she felt. "Sherry, you know me, I wouldn't lie to you and especially not about something like this. Worse...it gets weirder, but I promise all will be explained. Now Lanna seeing them out of the flames and we confirmed neither of us were dreaming. Decided to confront them to see what their intentions were. Turns out they have two friends of their own that was kidnapped and they came here looking for them. Only they were shot down by a laser from a satellite as they got close to our world. Which is why they crashed here instead of landing properly." Jake explained further not noticing Sora try to sneak closer wanting to see who he was talking to.
Sherry sighed and nodded. "I know...it just sounds weird" she said but listened to the rest of the tale, taking in what he had to say and frowned a bit, confused. "Is that one of them?" She had seen someone trying to sneak closer and brownish hair.
"Sora!" Donald quacked. "Stop being nosy!"
Sherry's eyes widened. 'Is that...Donald Duck?"
"Huh? Oh..." Jake said startled before glaring at Sora who was rubbing the back of his head sheepishly. "Yeah, that's Sora for the record and the one you heard...Well, see for yourself." Jake said making the phone face Donald, Goofy, and Lanna. Before Sora moved to stand in between Donald and Lanna waving with an apologetic look.
"Hi Mrs. Muller or is it okay if I call you, Sherry?" Sora asked hoping to start things off on a good note.
Lanna, Donald and Goofy facepalmed at the boys antics, sighing comically.
Sherry stared at them all, blinking. "My god..." she said, her eyes wide. "What...? How...?"
Lanna looked at her friend. "Long story, Sherry. We're still figuring it out as well" she said. "But yes, Donald and Goofy are real and Sora, well, he's human, I think?" She looked at the boy in question, brow raised. "But yeah, what Jake is saying is true."
Sherry looked at Sora, not sure what to think. "Um...yeah...S-Sherry is fine..."
"Cool! As you know, my name is Sora and don't worry. I'll take care of Lanna and your husband! Also, for the record everyone. I AM human, but one that was chosen to wield a keyblade." Sora said confidently ready to face anything to protect them. Jake gave a snort at that, like HE needed protecting. Turning the device back to him, he knew he HAD to let Sherry in on the big discovery they learned about their friends.
Jake looked at Sora surprised at the keyblade part, but choose to not say anything...unless it was involved with his magic. Then he'd be killing two birds with one stone.
"Sherry, I know this is a LOT to take in, hell, I still am trying to make sense of it all. But I feel you need to know one more thing about our friends we discovered. Only...you need to watch it first to believe it. Saying it to you without seeing it...will be hard to believe. Just trust me on this, please?" Jake explained mentally preparing for any sort of reaction Sherry might have to seeing Sora's magic in action like when he showed Lanna and himself.
Sherry sighed and nodded. "Alright...it's a lot to take in but show me what this boy can do" she said as and Lanna were a bit surprised about Sora saying he would protect her and Jake. "And...what is a keyblade?"
Lanna looked at Sora. "Mind showing her what you can do?" she asked."And tell us exactly what a keyblade is?"
"Remember this?" Sora asked summoning his keyblade to his outstretched hand in a flash of light. Amazing them all, while Donald and Goofy shook their heads. Knowing Sora was going to show off a little as he explained things.
"This is my keyblade and as for what I can do, I can use magic. Like this!" Sora explained to them as he pointed his keyblade to a nearby tree and the tip glowed red and super heated. "Fire!" Sora announced as the fireball shot out from the tip and slammed into the tree. Setting it on fire where the fireball hit. Sora's keyblade now glowed blue and had frost on it with an icy air around the tip of his keyblade.
"Blizzard!" Sora shouted as an ice spear shot out and ghosted through the tree. Putting out the flame and leaving ice to freeze the tree where his ice spell had passed through.
Satisfied with the results of his safe demonstration, he turned to face the camera where a stunned Sherry was watching. "That, Sherry, is only my weakest versions of fire magic and blizzard magic, but I have stronger ones that I can use at will as long as I have magic to spare. Magic that I can use to protect Lanna and Jake in multiple situations in combination with my swordsmanship. So like I said, you don't have to worry. I promise I won't let them get hurt or die." Sora explained hoping to show them he had the ability to keep them safe. He knew loved ones would always worry, but it often helps to know someone capable is looking after them.
"That's great, Sora, but can you explain your keyblade?" Jake asked, while impressed with what he learned so far, felt Sora might've forgotten that detail. The sheepish look on Sora's face only reinforcing that belief.
Sherry was impressed by what she had seen, surprised by this ability.. "But...your the only one who can do that, Sora. No one else here can." She wondered if this boy had what it takes to survive in this world. Lanna felt the same as she was worried about Sora and his friends. She sat on a log, having gotten over the shock of killing someone now.
She chuckled softly as she saw the look on Sora's face when he forgot to explain what the blade was.
"Well the keyblade is weapon used to combat the heartless and release the hearts they steal from other beings. The heart I speak of is not the physical one, but the heart that makes you who you are down to your core. Once they take it, you become a heartless as your body fades away to the darkness. While the heartless that stole your heart becomes stronger and sometimes gain a new form. The keyblade can even unlock and lock up any lock in existence." Sora explained giving them the gist of his keyblade's details before waiting to see if they had anymore questions about it's exact nature or powers.
Jake had to admit he was both impressed with the keyblade's powers so far and horrified how similar these heartless sound like to a zombie.
Lanna and Sherry were silent as they listened, thinking the same thing as Jake.
"The hell..." Lanna said, running a hand through her bangs. "That's impressive, Sora." She was impressed by the boy and the keyblade. She smiled lightly.
"That explains a lot but the question is...where did you come from? And...no offense but...in this world...Donald and Goofy are cartoon characters..." Sherry said.
"Thanks, Lanna. It's not easy being a keyblade wielder, but it has it's uses and perks to protecting those I care for." Sora said dismissing his keyblade. When he heard what Sherry said, he looked confused.
"Cartoon characters? Like as in some special kind of book? I never knew you guys had a book!" Sora asked Sherry before pointing a finger at Donald and Goofy in confusion. Why didn't they tell him they were famous?!
Jake just facepalmed, having a hard time the kid never heard of cartoons. Then again...who knew what was in outer space. Though there was something about the way he described heartless and the keyblade that is bugging him...
Donald and Goofy looked surprised. "We are?" They asked in unison, not having known either.
Lanna nodded and pulled out her cellphone, showing the different images of all the Disney Characters to them. "Yeah...here, you're cartoon characters" she said.
"Wow..."
"Hayuk...she's right! It's us!" Goofy said.
She chuckled a bit and looked at Jake. "Jake?"
"Sora, can I ask you something." Jake asked looking at Sora hoping his theory was wrong.
"Sure, what's up?" Sora asked seeing the look on his face and wondering what was troubling his new friend.
"When you described that you fight heartless with a keyblade and release hearts the creatures have stolen. I have to ask, can't you just do that with normal weapons or at least kill them without a keyblade?" Jake asked with a feeling of dread in his gut that he wasn't gonna like the answer.
Sora's uneasy expression made him start feeling his suspicions were justified.
"Well, you CAN kill a heartless without one, but they won't stay permanently dead. Just reappear somewhere else until they are slain by a keyblade and the hearts they stole will stay captured by the darkness the heartless are made of too. So if you had to, you could kill them to protect yourselves, but they won't stay dead is the thing." Sora explained with a grimace knowing how they might take this bit of news.
Lanna groaned softly. "Great..." she said. "Just f-ing great..."
Sherry sighed. "So they can't be killed with anything else...that's going to be difficult and a hassle..." she said. "Jake, you and the others are going have to be extremely careful now."
"We will." Lanna said
"We'll help anyway we can," Goofy said stepping forward. "We fought them before."
"Yeah, I've got tons of experience killing heartless. Do you got nothing to worry about on that front." Sora said hoping to cheer them up and assure them that they will be fine.
"Understood, Supergirl, I won't die on you that easy." Jake said trying to lift his wife's spirits about this mission. "We'll be heading to the gate now and enter the village to look for clues on Lanna's and Elly's parents."
Sherry smiled lightly and nodded. "I trust you, hard head" she said.
Lanna smiled, hearing two. She hoped to find a romance of her own one day. "We'll keep you informed, Sherry" she said giving the woman on the phone a smile. "We'll look after each other."
Sherry chuckled a bit. "I know" she said. Elly waved at them. 'Bring my parents home..."
"We will. We'll bring everyone home" Lanna said confidentially.
"That's a promise." Jake said seriously, he may not make promises often not wanting to ever be held responsible until he knew without a doubt he could do it. But this was different, he was making this promise because he HAD to save them or he'd never forgive himself for failing. A promise would only serve as motivation to complete his task.
"Let's go to the village then!" Sora cheered with a fist in the air as Donald and Goofy copied his motion with a cheer. Jake tried to suppress a smirk at the sight, but being around the kid was infectious. You couldn't help feeling like he was an old friend you knew for years and that you could trust him.
Sherry smiled. "I'll wait for you to come home" she said and soon hung up.
Lanna laughed as she saw the others do this and shook her head. She already liked Sora and his friends as she stood up and looked at Jake. "Let's get going" She headed down the trail. She was a bit cheered up by Sora's personality and felt like they would find her parents and friends in one piece and alive.
Sadly none of them knew what laid ahead for them...
Jake led them to the gate and taking one last look at everyone seeing a nod from each of them to show they are ready. He pushes open the gate and walks in at point. Checking his left, his right, and in front as they approached the seemingly empty village cautiously. Jake honestly did NOT like this at all, it was too quiet and not a soul in sight.
"Keep your guard up guys, they probably have some ambush or a nasty surprise waiting for us." Jake warned his friend and new teammates.
"Don't worry, we're ready for anything." Sora said with complete confidence.
Lanna stepped through the gate behind Jake, looking around. "This is...too bizarre..." she said as she followed him and stopped, seeing the large bonfire in the middle of the village square. "Oh god...Jake...is that a human?" She asked, pointing at the figure that was being burned. It did look human...
Donald and Goofy saw this and gagged, feeling sick to their stomachs as Lanna handed Jake her binoculars. She had a sneaky suspicion as to what it was in the fire but hoped it wasn't.
Jake frowned as he looked through the binoculars to confirm it was human. Worse...it was clearly DSO member. 'He must have come here looking for Leon based one the rumors like we are.' Jake figured as he knew DSO agents don't go somewhere unless it was to gather information or because they had a mission. Seeing as there was only this guy, to his current knowledge, it was safe to assume he was a scout.
"Yeah...it was a human, now he's just a corpse. I'm sorry, but there is nothing we can do for that guy." Jake said feeling a sense of remorse he kept restrained. No one deserved to die burning like someone from the dark ages when hunting witches. Some of the most inhumane times for their race sadly and worse some people still used those practices to this day in more chaotic areas.
Sora was about to head in there, only for Jake to grab his shoulder. "Let me go, Jake, we can't just leave him like this!"
"Sora, believe me I know how you feel, but we HAVE to be careful or we will end up like him." Jake said trying to reason with the young man as they glared at each other in a battle of wills.
Donald threw up into the bushes while Goofy stayed by his friend.
Lanna sighed as she stared at the burning body and looked away, seeing the bell tower in the distance and seeing a few shacks and houses in the small village. She saw a barn that held animals or did at one time but saw bones on the floor. She looked around before spotting Jake and Sora having it out, glaring at each other.
Walking over, she bopped them both on the heads. "Knock it off!" she said. "Sora, I know you want to help but the man is long dead now. He can't be saved, Jake is right." She looked at them both. "Sora...I don't like it either but from here on out, you will see things like that and most likely worse. It's something that you, me, Donald and Goofy will have to get used to."
"Right now, we have people missing. Let's go through these shacks and houses and see what we can find."
"Why'd you bop me too? He's the one I'm trying to keep from doing something stupid." Jake grumbled as he led the way into the village, still tense at how quiet things were. Sora hanging close to Lanna behind Jake, while Donald and Goofy brought up the rear. All of them sparing the burning corpse a pitying and sorrowful glance as they past it. Stopping in the center of the village to see it was truly deserted.
"Well, either this is really bad or a lucky break. Though I feel you may be right, Lanna. Seeing this place in the same condition your father left it is very suspicious." Jake said looking around and wondering why no one was here. He wasn't upset about it, but a place this big should have at least a few people watching over their stuff and homes. Or at least keep intruders out...
"This place is a wreck, where do we check first, Lanna, Jake?" Sora asked taking a look around as well and seeing nothing to help them find Lanna's parents, Elly's parents, or his friends.
Lanna looked around. "...I hate to say it but we may have to split up and search the smaller houses before tackling the big building in front of us" she said pointed with the churches insignia on it. "Before you say it Jake, it will take twice as long to search them together and we're pressed for time as it is."
"I don't know..." Donald said looking worried. "This place is pretty creepy..." Goofy nodded, looking around. "Feels like something is gonna jump out at us..."
Jake bit back a retort seeing her point, as much as he loathed to admit it. "Fine, but no one goes anywhere alone, period." Jake said getting nods of agreement from everyone.
"That said, we need to decide who goes with who and what area we each search." Jake informed them looking at Lanna to let her know she was the one to decide. She was the one to come up with the plan to split up, so it's only fair she decides how this goes. It could be good experience for her in case she ever leads a mission with a team of her own.
Lanna nodded. "Right" she said looking at the group. "Sora, you come with me and Donald too." Donald nodded as Goofy looked at Jake and waved. "Sweet."
Lanna was a bit nervous but wanted to do this as she wanted to learn. This would be a learning experience for her as she wanted to continue working for the BSAA when she got older. "We'll meet back here in ten."
"Very well, but if you need help. Don't be afraid to call for us for backup. We will do the same, alright?" Jake offered to remind her that he would be there for her in a heartbeat if she needed him.
Lanna nodded and smiled. "Thanks, Jake" she said, relieved to have him at her side on this mission. He was like a big brother to her. "I'll give a yell if I need anything." She promised and looked at Sora and Donald. "Let's take the right side of the village."
"Alright!" Sora said ready to help her search, while Jake tapped Goofy on the arm and gestured for the dog knight to follow him.
"We'll take the left side then, come on, Goofy." Jake said already walking off with Goofy following him into the first house they were gonna check.
(Lanna, Donald and Sora)
Lanna nodded as she headed to the right, going up the small hill that led to another gate and a small one room shack. Donald followed after them. "One room?"
"I know, right? How did they manage?" Lanna said, gun drawn as she entered slowly, looking around. She blinked as she found a box of ammo for Jake's gun and a herb. "Uh.…"
(Goofy and Jake)
Goofy nodded as he followed him, keeping his shield out. "Okay." he said, staying right behind him.
They entered a two story house first, Jake took a brief glance before gesturing Goofy up stairs. "You check upstairs and bring back anything that looks like bullets, a gun, or any medical herbs we can use. I'll check down here a bit since the room is bigger." Jake told Goofy before making his way to the dining table and the kitchen area looking for supplies.
Sora on the other hand was doing his best to help, Lanna find supplies. After a bit of searching, he found a strange note that he couldn't read. "Lanna? Does this help? I can't read it's language." Sora asked handing Lanna the letter he found.
(Jake's group)
Goofy nodded as he headed up the stairs to look around. He found a box of ammo right off and put it away as he found old painting of an old man in a purple robe. The paintings were a bit faded from the light and dingy looking.
(Lanna's Group)
Lanna looked up from her spot and headed towards him. "Let's see...it's Spanish" she said as she started to read it. Donald headed over to him, wanting to know what it said.
(Jake)
Jake looked around the dining table to find nothing but rotten food. 'No surprises there.' Jake thought mildly annoyed they left crappy rotten food out in the open like this. Only someone truly desperate would even consider eating that gunk...or someone with a death wish. Pushing the thought away, he continued looking around to see a red herb that could be mixed with a green one for more medicine. Something they couldn't take for granted so he took it and found some shotgun ammo for Lanna to use.
"Lanna will love some more bullets." Jake muttered taking the bullets and pocketing them away for later.
Goofy found some old papers and notes and one green herb but didn't find much as he started down the stairs. "Not much here" he said but handed over the herb and box of ammo that he did find. "Just found old paintings of an old man."
(Lanna)
Lanna blinked, surprised. "Sora...you found something!" she said, reading it quickly.
"What does it say?" Donald asked excitedly.
Lanna looked at them. "It says they had caught the informant, one of Jake's buddies, and they killed him when they couldn't force him to talk about why he was there and who he was looking for" she said, her voice trailing off lightly and sighed and frowned. "They...moved a red headed girl to a new location after the silver haired boy escaped."
"That's Kairi and Riku!" Donald exclaimed.
(Jake's group)
"Thanks anyway, Goofy. I didn't find much either in this room, but the green herb should be useful. Let me show you something." Jake said as he took the green and red herbs. Mixing them together to make medicine to put in a spray bottle. "This will help heal a lot of injuries on your person, but some people make pill versions to eat to quickly heal your wounds." Jake explains to Goofy having let him see how to make healing spray.
(Lanna's group)
"So Riku and Kairi are alive! Riku even managed to escape, but I hope Kairi is okay..." Sora said happy Riku was out there somewhere, but still worried about Kairi's whereabouts.
(Jake's group)
Goofy blinked and nodded as he watched. "We have something to it at home" he said amazed by the process and pulled out a small potion bottle to show him.
(Lanna's group)
Lanna nodded. "So it's been confirmed than' she said putting the note in her pocket so she could show Jake after they meet up. "They're probably holding Kairi somewhere secluded..." She thought for a moment, not positive where they would find her.
(Jake's group)
"What's that?" Jake asked wondering what was so like their medical spray inside that jar.
(Lanna's group)
"I hope we find her soon, unlike Riku she isn't much of a fighter from what I know. She never finished training after she gained a keyblade recently." Sora said knowing she was the least trained out of everyone right now and the most vulnerable.
"It's a small healing potion" Goofy said and grinned. "It heals small scraps and cuts but there three different sizes. The bigger ones can mend deeper wounds and some fractures."
(Jake's group)
Lanna looked at him. "She your girlfriend?" she asked and for some odd reason that made her wince. She didn't know why either. She had no claim to this strange boy and mentally shook that feeling away.
(Jake's group)
"Huh...That's pretty handy. Oh, before I forget again. I need to know if you saw any notes or letters left behind. They may have clues I can use to find your friends or the people Lanna and I came here to rescue." Jake said at first impressed with the potion, before remembering to inform the dog knight of how important the notes could be, if found.
Jake wasn't sure if he saw any, but he needed all the leads he can get.
(Lanna's group)
"W-what?! No! Kairi and I are just friends is all and I knew her since we were kids. That's why I'm concerned." Sora said unsure how to feel about her being his girlfriend. he cares for Kairi a lot and used to have a crush on her before. Now however, he wasn't sure how he felt about Kairi and was happy seeing her as a friend for now.
(Jake's group)
Goofy knitted his brows, folding his arms as he thought. "I found old notes and stuff upstairs but I don't know if they're useful as I couldn't understand them. They were in a diary book." He looked at Jake, not sure if it was useful or not.
(Lanna's group)
Donald looked at Sora and smirked. "Sure...she's not" he said laughing.
Lanna shrugged. "Eh, none of my business anyway" she said as she headed to the doorway. "Come on. This place doesn't hold anything else. We still have a barn and another house to check." She headed down the small hill.
"Well, better than nothing. I know multiple languages so I'll check it. Just keep in mind in the future to let me know of any letters or notes you find in the future." Jake said heading upstairs to look for the diary Goofy found.
"Alright, let's see what we can find!" Sora said happy for the change in subject and for some reason... He felt a little worried how Lanna would react about Kairi. He didn't know why, but he really wanted Lanna to be happy and around him more than most people.
(Jake's group)
Goofy nodded as he followed him up" Okay. It should be on the desk" he said pointing to it as it was under the window.
Jake seeing it picks it up and flips through the pages with a narrowed gaze. "Well, I got good news and bad news, Goofy. Which you want to hear first?"
Donald followed after them and looked at Sora curiously, seeing the change of expressions on the boys face. "Sora? You alright?" he asked as Lanna was out of hearing distance but could still be seen.
(Lanna's group)
"Yeah...I think so, just wondering about somethings is all." Sora said unsure if he should tell Donald about his strange feelings for Lanna or not. Was it really a good idea to worry Donald when he himself is unsure how he feels for female gun fighter?
(Jake's group)
"Um good news" Goofy said looking at him, head tilted. "What did you find?" He was curious and excited, hoping for the best as he shifted on his big feet, his ears flopping.
"Well, according to this a chief named Mendez who wrote in this book. States where Kairi is, that's the good news. The bad news is we need a certain key to get to her."
(Lanna's group)
Donald tilted his head, confused at that. "What about?" he asked as Lanna checked the barn out and slashing open a barrel and found some gold on the floor. She picked it up.
'Dad never did find out how gold, herbs or ammo showed up when he did or didn't need it...' Lanna thought and looked around. 'Or the jewels and other items...'
Sora sighs watching Lanna go through the supplies she's gathering. "Lanna and Kairi, I'm still trying to figure out some stuff about them is all." Sora said hoping to ease Donald's worries and not have Lanna start asking questions too. Thank goodness she hasn't hear them yet.
(Jake's group)
Goofy smiled. "Really?" he asked. "That's great! It shouldn't be hard to find the key right? It's gotta be somewhere here!" He was ecstatic about the news. "We gotta tell Sora!"
(Lanna's group)
Donald nodded. "Alright" he said. "We better catch up."
Lanna finished with the barn and started towards the house. "Hurry up slow pokes!" she called out to Sora and Donald.
"Sorry to keep you waiting, Lanna. Which one is next?" Sora asks eager to help her out.
(Jake's group)
Jake nodded in agreement, understanding Goofy's desire to find his friends and inform Sora. "I know, but we need to finish checking the houses, only two left and it should be a quick sweep with nothing to distract us. Just remember to bring me any notes or letters you find. Plus the supplies and THEN we will tell them okay? We have to find as many clues as possible to help find them faster." Jake explains to Goofy as they walk out and make their way to the next house.
Goofy nodded. "Okay" he said as he followed the man out, seeing Lanna and her group heading to a different house. He looked through the windows curiously. "They seemed to be nice at one point..."
"They were...once. But when they get infected by a virus or a plaga. Who they once were tends to die with them as the virus takes over the host's body. Controlling the corpse to make it do whatever the virus compels the body to. Usually meaning they follow their instincts, the most basic instinct we all have that is. Only a rare few can maintain their sense of self despite being infected from what I've heard." Jake explains as he opens the door and looks around.
"Okay, this is a small house with one floor. So you check the bedroom and I'll be here in the living room if you need me or find anything." Jake says pointing to the closed door.
(Lanna's group)
Lanna pulled out the map for the village, looking it over. 'Small two storied house...so we'll have to take a little extra time to go through it. Make sure to let me know if you found anything, bullets, herbs, gold or notes and stuff. They may have more info" She looked at the door and grabbed the handle, ready to open it. She pushed slowly and yelped as a chicken came flying out, squawking and crying.
"Ah!/Whoa!" Sora and Lanna shouts respectively as Sora summons his keyblade on reflex. Seeing the chicken fully and running off. Sora gives a sheepish chuckle at acting so ridiculous in front of Lanna. Not knowing why it felt embarrassing, but he hoped she'd not mind it.
"Heh heh... Guess the chicken just flew the coop, huh?" Sora tried to joke in hopes of easing the tension and his racing heart.
(Jake's group)
Goofy nodded at him. "It's sad..." he said, meaning the people as he headed to the bedroom. His ears drooped a bit as he opened the door and headed into the bedroom to look it over. He saw the dirty bed a barrel and a box that he cracked open and found gold and a green herb. He saw the old painting of the old man again and wondered who he was.
"Everything okay, there Goofy?" Jake asks finishing up his brief search finding only a few pistol rounds and thirty machine gun bullets for his AK. Not enough for a full clip, but every little bit helps. Though he wishes he found more, he figured checking on Goofy might be wise. Only to see him staring at a painting of an old man he remembered Lanna telling him about.
(Lanna's group)
Donald yelped, jumping back as he summoned his staff and sighed, looking at Sora and Lanna as his heart raced.
Lanna looked at Sora and laughed a bit. 'I guess so!" she said, shaking her head as she had been close to peeing her pants and that would have been embarrassing even more so in front of Sora. She rubbed the back of her head, chuckling. "Poor thing must have been stuck in there..."
"Probably was, but why would they leave a chicken indoors and how come the town is empty?" Sora asks confused at the lack of... people. Granted, he didn't like the idea of fighting and killing the villagers, but the mysterious lack of them in this big area was concerning him. The heartless, if there were any, usually would've made a move the moment he came in the village.
There was no sign of them yet either. So that meant either that haven't found this world yet or someone was keeping them from attacking for the moment.
(Jake's group)
"He looks like a grandpa to Maleficent" Goofy said and shivered as he remembered the battles with the witch and how some became dire. He couldn't remember being so scared, but this information got Jake's attention. Was this a possible enemy they had to watch out for?
"Maleficent? You mean the witch from Sleeping Beauty? green skin, yellow eyes, dark magic, curses, and turns herself into a dragon? That same Maleficent?" Jake asked wondering how much he needed to know about her in case they ran into her.
(Lanna's group)
Lanna sighed a bit. "Well Sora...Donald..." she said. "Back when my father was here there was a lack of children as well but there were grownups. A man named Osmand Saddler came to this village with promises that ensnared the fantasies of the villagers. My father doesn't know the whole story but Saddler got Lord Salazar, who's family sealed away a virus due to problems, to unbury the virus and use it on the villagers. It's rumored that the children died of a disease or...the villagers killed them..."
Donald's face turned pale. "K-Killed them...?" he asked weakly, his knees shaking.
"B-But that's crazy! Why would they do that to the kids or the villagers in the first place! Especially if this Salazar guy already knew how dangerous the plaga was?!" Sora asked horrified anyone would endanger their own people like that. Worse because of some promise? What promise was worth having the people who looked to you as a leader get killed by a virus?
(Jake's group)
Goofy looked serious and nodded. "Yes, the same and only. We've fought her a few times and Sora managed to defeat her, but she can control the heartless...She is very dangerous."
Jake's eyes narrowed at how serious Goofy was and the look in his eyes. They were the eyes that had seen war and come close to dying. Eyes of a soldier in a war. "That bad huh? Tell me something, Goofy and be honest. How strong is Sora compared to her now and do you think he can bring himself to kill her?"
(Lanna's group)
Lanna looked at them. "Sora...listen to me, alright? I need you to understand how serious this is" she said firmly and gently. "There are bad people at work here, real bad people. And they will not stop to get what they want and they don't care who they hurt. Saddler brainwashed Salazar to let loose the Plaga's and was doing through the guise of a religion, making others think that if they follow him, he can save them."
Donald looked horrified. 'What..."
"It's true..." Lanna said. "Once the villagers were taken over, they lived and breathed to serve Saddle, neglecting everything around them. If they were ordered to kill, they did, if they were ordered to kidnap someone, they would."
"My God..." Sora said horrified about all of this. "T-They're really that far gone?"
(Jake's group)
Goofy looked at him. "Sora is strong, despite his goofy attitude. He can do it again," he said. "Maleficent has died once, we saw her go but..." He looked worried. "I just hope she stays gone for good this time..."
Jake couldn't help being confused and worried at the last bit. "Are you honestly saying this lady can bring herself back to life?"
(Lanna's group)
Lanna looked grim, looking at the two. "Yes..." she said. "They are. Once the Adult plaga latches onto the spinal cord, the only way to save them is to kill them."
Sora...felt numb at that moment. Could things really be that bad that he had to kill them in the same manner her did to heartless? He didn't like it, but he knew he couldn't just leave this world and it's problems to them. He honestly wanted to be there for her, even if it meant killing those infected villagers. Didn't mean he'd like it though, but he hoped he'd be able to do it when the time came.
"I-I see...I had no idea things could get this bad on any worlds. I use to always think the heartless were the worse things around, but now... I think I understand some worlds have it worse than others." Sora admits looking sorrowful Lanna lived on such a world and how bad things are here. What kind of world was this nightmare? Halloween Town had NOTHING on this place!
(Jake's group)
Goofy nodded slowly. "Yes...she did once" he said, sighing a bit. "And she was a lot stronger too." He rubbed the back of his head gently. "And the heartless were stronger."
Jake couldn't help showing a bit of sympathy for the dog. He clearly has been through a lot and he was willing to bet it was the same for Sora and Donald too. "Listen, I've been in some really messed up wars myself and the virus that has plagued this planet for years made things a living nightmare for a great many people. Even before I was born the virus had claimed millions of lives in several outbreaks. These days, it's not as bad compared to when the outbreaks first occurred, but it's a tough fight to finish. This guy in the painting here," Jake explains gesturing to the painting Goofy was staring at. "-is a guy called Osmand Saddler, he tricked some noble or lord here called Salazar into unearthing the plaga parasite they had buried here. Once that happened, he infected everyone he could. A great many people died, even children. Either by the virus or the were killed by the crazed plaga infected people. No one was safe. Until Leon came in, killed any plaga carriers in his way of rescuing the kidnapped President's daughter, and eventually got out after killing their leader." Jake finished his explanation as he looked to Goofy who looked shocked at the information that was shared.
"This has been around this long...?" Goofy asked surprised, eyes wide. It was a lot of information to take it and lowered his head. "Whoa..." He felt a hand patting his shoulder to see Jake smiling an understanding smile to the dog knight. "All I'm saying is we had our fair share of shit too and that you aren't alone. We're all in this mess together and we WILL survive this. That's one thing Sherry taught me back when I was...a different person. A colder person back before I knew what it was like to trust someone and see the good in people. She taught me to never give up, no matter the odds." Jake explains telling Goofy the same important lesson Sherry gave him so long ago.
Lanna smiled sadly. "Sora...this virus...has been around long before I was born...all because of one man, one scientist, found a flower that grew underground in Africa. Since than, things have been a nightmare here."
"You've got to be kidding me..." Sora said shocked that all of this was because one scientist found a flower. "I-I don't... How could one scientist think of starting all of this and how could a flower start all of those viruses you told me about?"
"That's the thing...he didn't know what the flower could do at that time...but you know how it goes...once someone found power they get drunk off of it and think they're gods..." Lanna said.
"Yeah...Reminds me of Ansem." Sora admits striking Lanna's curiosity as Donald looks at Sora understanding what he was getting at. As they were looking for Ansem's notes, they learned of what happened to Ansem and how Xehanort stole his name. Seeing the look from Lanna, Sora elaborated.
"It started as Ansem was a wise ruler of a peaceful world filled with light. As any good ruler, he wanted the best for his people and was a brilliant scientist. However, he feared the day darkness would come and destroy the peaceful world along with his people. So he tried to study it and one day grew fearful of continuing further. Realizing it was too tempting and could corrupt anyone researching it, but his apprentices didn't heed his orders to stop the research. Even going so far as to throw him into the darkness and banish him there to continue their research. After a while that same research led to the world suffering and eventually attacked by Maleficent with the heartless. those who could survive ran away, while the those unable too...Got turned into more heartless under her command. The world even had a new name to suit how it had forgotten it's light the world once enjoyed so much. From Radiant Garden to Hollow Bastion." Sora explained and paused to see how Lanna would handle learning how Radiant Garden fell with Maleficent partly causing it's downfall.
(Jake's group)
Goofy nodded and smiled. "Hayuk, yeah your right. She seems like a nice lady, your wife" he said. He felt a bit better now after hearing Jake tell him that. "Thank you."
"That she is...Sherry has always been my super girl, even saved me from myself." Jake said with small smile that showed genuine gratitude toward the blonde that he has fallen for. Slapping a supportive hand on Goofy's shoulder he led them to the last house to check. "Come on, Goof. We got one more house to check before regrouping and we shouldn't keep the others waiting too long."
Goofy nodded and smiled. "Alright" he said as he followed Jake out the door and headed after him. "I wonder if the others found anything yet." He was curious. He hoped the others were alright.
(Lanna's group)
Lanna was silent as she listened to him and sighed a bit. "I see..." she said softly. She looked at him. "That sounds a lot like Raccoon City. They have similar origins." She looked at him. "Is that why you fight? And was it ever saved?"
"The world was saved after the keyhole was sealed and Kingdom hearts closed to keep the darkness at bay. But as for why I fight... It's because I want to help my friends and prevent others from falling to the heartless. I once use to live on a chain of islands known as Destiny Islands, our world. It's small and not very eventful, but it was home and peaceful. Until the day the heartless came, engulfing the world in darkness, Kairi being spirited away, Riku disappearing before my eyes, and despite how hard I fought to save my home and the people on it...I failed and got carried off in the storm. Until I landed on a new world known as Traverse Town. Where I met more refugees of fallen worlds thanks to the heartless. It was from then on I fought to find Riku and Kairi, as well as to protect other worlds from falling to the heartless like my own world had." Sora explains trying not to think too much on how horrible it felt back then. When he was without his friends, his family, and his home. He felt so alone when he wasn't with Donald or Goofy. Even around his friends he felt a longing for the family he couldn't see again and thought had died.
Lanna nodded as she listened to him explain. She could hear the sadness in his tone as he talked about his home world, his friends and his family. She lowered her head. "I'm sorry you had to go through that, Sora. That sounds awful..."
"It's alright, Lanna, it's not all bad now. We got the islands back and everyone on the Islands is back too." Sora assures Lanna patting her arm gently.
Lanna looked at him and nodded, smiling.
"Yeah! It's all safe" Donald said grinning at her. "Sora locked the keyhole for it!"
"I'm glad to hear that" she said, feeling a bit relieved.
"So no worries, Lanna. In my travels I've seen many wonderful and amazing sights, as well as facing powerful foes. I know each world has their own dangers and no matter what I have one thing pushing me forward." Sora explains standing closer to Lanna and placing his hands on her shoulders to assure her of how serious he is.
"I will protect you and Jake, not only because of my promise, but because you guys are my friends." Sora told her with a smile showing sincerity and kindness to aid friends.
(Jake's group)
Jake meanwhile made it to the last house. "Well, Goofy, this is the last house. Let's check it out and be done with this. Looks like a two story house, but be ready for anything. No town should be this quiet and I don't like it." Jake told Goofy before giving him a friendly warning.
Lanna blinked and smiled at him, nodding. "I believe you" she said as she liked how close they were at the moment. "Thank you. I'll do my best to protect you as well."
Donald coughed behind his hand. "Ahem...we still have to search the rest of the house...remember?" He said, brow raised. Lanna flushed and pulled away. 'Right! We gotta look before joining back up with Jake and Goofy." She rubbed the back of her head, sheepishly.
Sora rubbed his head sheepishly with a small blush on cheeks realizing the position he put them in. Though for some reason... It felt so right being close to her like that. 'Whatever, I'll figure it out later.' Sora thought to himself moving forward into the house with Lanna to finish their search.
"So where do you want us to search, Lanna?" Sora asks wondering where to start.
(Jake's group)
Jake checks around the living room and found an incinerating grenade, some shotgun shells, and another note. One that was surprisingly in English. It was from Riku. It read, 'I don't know who these jerks are or what they are...they're ruthless, almost worse than the Heartless. One of the villagers took Kairi, who knows where. I have to find her but I have to get the layout first. I'll follow them, but at a distance. Sora...where the hell are you?'
'So...Riku must have escaped and is trying to find Kairi. He must of come by here and left recently, judging by how Goofy and myself haven't found him yet. Plus no word from Lanna yet either so I at least know she's fine.' Jake thought keeping the note to show Sora and others later. That done he turns to the stairwell to see if Goofy was done with his search.
"Goofy! How much until your done? I am finished checking things down here!"
"Same here!" Goofy called out to him. "I found a grenade and a herb but that's it" He showed Jake what he had found, looking at him. "Anything on your end?" Goofy asks as Jake nods in agreement. "Got some supplies and aletter Sora needs to see, let's go regroup with them to show them what we found." Jake suggests making Goofy nod and both head out to meet up with their friends.
Goofy nodded, grinning. "Promise" he said as he started to look at the building as he headed up the stairs and saw a bookshelf with the grenade and another bed.
(Lanna's group)
"We'll check first floor" Lanna said looking around. "Remember, anything you think could be of use," She looked at the two as she looked around the room while Donald checked the book shelves. Sora immediately went to the the back of the room, finding some barrels and smashing them. Grabbing some fallen gold and a weird looking red thing similar to a grenade Lanna was carrying. Confused by it's appearance, Sora thought to show Lanna to figure out what it is.
"Lanna? What's this red grenade looking thing?"
Lanna looked up and chuckled. "That? It's a flame grenade," she said. "It's almost like what you can do with your keyblade, Sora, but once it's used, you can't use the same one again."
Donald found some gold and old yellow paper with words too faded out to be read anymore and opened a cupboard door, only to have it disendergrate in his hand. "Ach!"
"I'm gonna head upstairs," Lanna said as she made her way up the stairs, hearing the steps creak and groan. She frowned a bit as she was nervous about the steps as she took them one at a time. "Easy with the steps...I don't trust them."
Donald nodded. "Okay" he said.
Sora however looked worried at how cautious she was being with the steps. Deciding he wanted to be there if they broke, so he started checking the table near the stairs. Finding some more gold as he pocketed it away for the moment and a fancy looking pendent made out of silver. "We'll be here if you need us."
(Jake's group)
Jake walked back to the center of the village to see the others weren't back yet. 'Guess we must be early.' Jake thought looking at his watch to confirm they were early, about three more minutes left before they were due back.
Goofy was ready to say something when heard the sound from the house. "What was that?"
Jake narrowed his eyes hearing the noise too and was already running. "Trouble." Jake told Goofy simply sprinting ahead hoping that whatever was going on, that they would be okay.
(Lanna's group/ end)
Lanna was near the top of the stairs. "Thanks...oh!" she said as the top three steps started to give way under her feet. Thinking quickly she jumped to the landing and slipped, grabbing the edge of it. "Shit!"
"Lanna!" Donald cried out, seeing the girl dangle from the ledge, watching her pull herself up to the top floor. "Lanna! Are you okay!?"
"I'm fine!" Lanna called out.
"You sure about that, Lanna?" Sora asked worried for her, while internally surprised how quickly he got to the bottom of the stairs and almost climbing up them. He was thankful to see she had pulled herself up, but couldn't help wondering if he would have to carry her when she wants to come down. Not that he had a problem with it...
'Great, now why do I actually want her to ask me to carry her?' Sora thought in confusion feeling an odd hope for her to ask him to do just that. He never minded helping someone do it before, but now he actually wanted her to ask him to...
"Yeah!" Lanna said sighing as her heart was pounding against her chest and looked up to see Jake and Goofy rushing in. Seeing them both stare at the stairs as if they somehow offended the two.
"Lanna? Are you okay?" Goofy asked.
"The stairs collapsed as she was climbing them" Donald said.
Lanna nodded. "I'm going to take a quick up here and figure out how I'm gonna get down..."
"Lanna?"
"Yeah, Donald?"
"You said a bad word."
Lanna groaned lowly.
"Lanna? I could...Carry you down if you want. I can easily jump over that gap and carry you safely back over here when you are done.. If you want to that is." Sora offered, before hastily adding the last part turning his head to avoid letting her see his cheeks blushing. Even scratching them lightly as Jake looked at Sora with narrowed eyes of suspicion. He knew the kid had no bad intentions, but he could see something was different about Sora right now from earlier...
"Well if it pleases everybody, we found somethings to share with the group as a whole and a letter Sora needs to see." Jake said offering the letter to Sora who looked surprised. Who would leave him a letter? Was it from his friends?
Lanna blushed a bit. "Ah...thank you" she said. "I'll let you know when I'm done." She disappeared onto the second floor to look around, not having seen his blushing face.
It was from his friend, especially Riku.
"What does it say?" Donald and Goofy asked curiously, looking at the boy.
"It says and I quote, 'I don't know who these jerks are or what they are...they're ruthless, almost worse then the Heartless. One of the villagers took Kairi, who knows where. I have to find her, but I have to get the layout first. I'll follow them, but at a distance. Sora...where the hell are you?'." Sora finished having a troubled look on his face after reading it aloud so Lanna could hear it from upstairs. He was honestly worried about Riku and Kairi both, but knew deep down Riku would be able to take care of himself. Kairi was the least experienced one that needed their help more than Riku right now.
"That makes sense from the letter I found with Sora and Donald" Lanna said as she heard what Sora read from the note. She looked at Jake, worried and pulled out the note from her pocket.
She looked down at the stairs and sighed. "Stupid stairs...um...Sora...?" she asked. "Can you help? These stairs are unstable. I'd rather not jump." She hated asking as it made her feel weak.
"No problem!" Sora said before realizing he said that a little too quickly, the suspicious glare he got from Jake not helping the feeling at all. Rather than risk putting his foot further in his own mouth, Sora jumped the distance and landed on the top where Lanna was in one easy jump. Before shyly looking at her as he knew there was only two ways he was gonna be able to carry her without making it uncomfortable.
"So would you like to ride on my back or for me to carry you in my arms? I can do either one, honestly." Sora asks feeling nervous now that he asked the question and there was no taking it back.
Jake looks on wondering what was up with Sora lately as he never saw this side of him, but also felt for Lanna as he knew the girl hated relying on others to carry her around. At least ever sense she turned thirteen, when she was younger she LOVED having her dad, her uncle, or even Jake himself be her "ponies".
Lanna remembered the days when she was younger, riding on the backs of her close friends and family. During those years they had made a bond, Chris and Jill like her aunt and uncle, Jake and Sherry, who she considered older siblings and her parents...Lanna's heart clenched as she thought of her parents, Leon and Claire, her mother being pregnant with her baby brother. She gripped her hand into a fist, remembering them all. She wanted her family back at home, safe...
"Back" She said, her tone a bit shaky from the memories. She couldn't cry now, she hated crying, just as much as appearing weak to others. She looked at Sora. "Please..."
Sora felt his heart clench at her clearly remembering something important to her. A look he used to have anytime he thought of his family and friends when he believed they were all dead with Destiny Islands being consumed by darkness. It was a long time ago, but he knew the hurt and nostalgic love in those kind of memories.
"Back it is." Sora said simply turning around and letting Lanna climb on. Trying to ignore how nice it felt having her close to him as he prepared to jump. "For the record, I'm sorry for bringing up your memories." Sora whispered loud enough only she would hear, surprising her. She was about to answer, but he cut her off before she could.
"Hang on tight, Lanna." Sora said with a firm grip on her thighs around his waist and jumped down swiftly toward the living room. Lanna blinked as she heard Sora's voice bringing her back to the world of the living and heard his words. "Huh?" she started and yelped as she held onto him when he jumped off the landing. She held on tight, surprised how could do the jump so easily and sighed as she had a near death grip on Sora's clothing.
Jake was tracking his movements worriedly during the jump with his eyes as they came to a safe landing, much to his relief. Walking up to them, he quickly pulled her off Sora's back and began checking her for wounds with his eyes. Making sure to keep his arms crossed and a step away from her to hopefully keep her from noticing his over protective side showing.
"Thanks..." she said to Sora and looked up at Jake, feeling him check her over. She smiled lightly as she had noticed but said nothing. "I'm alright. Sorry if I worried you."
Donald nods, sighing. "You're in one piece," he said with Goofy nodding in agreement.
"Good to see or I would've tore your boyfriend here a new one." Jake joked partly to mess with Lanna and partly to see Sora's reaction. He was both pleased and worried as he saw both of them blush and stutter.
"It's not like that!" They both shout at the same time before realizing what they just did.
Lanna's face turned beat red at that. "Jake!" she said and sighed. "Meanie..." Jake had a tendency to tease her at home about things, specially if there was a boy involved!
She took a quick peak at Sora and looked away quickly, seeing how red his face was at the same time. She swallowed. She never had a boyfriend and her weird feelings for Sora were a mystery at best.
Donald and Goofy laughed, seeing the two's reactions at Jakes words.
Lanna sighed heavily.
Sora scowled at Jake, but the blush on his cheeks made it hard to appear intimidating to anyone. "We just met for crying out loud, Jake, there's no way we'd be boyfriend and girlfriend that fast!" Sora said trying to deny it and any feelings he had for her. Though a part of him wondered how true his words were...
Jake just smirked in a way that annoyed them both, deciding to enjoy messing with them for now. Though if Sora did get serious with being with Lanna...Well as her big brother figure it was his duty to remind Sora to treat Lanna right or face hell for hurting her.
"Sure~," Jake teased stressing the word as the two glared at him for it, "Just remember to keep your hands above her waist and below her chest or I'll castrate you with my Elephant Killer."
Donald and Goofy laughed at the teens faces.
Lanna sighed and shook her head. "Ugh...alright, bro" she said, sticking her tongue out at Jake. "Fun and games aside...you need to read this. It's about your friend and the location where they put Kairi" She handed the paper to him.
Jake seeing how serious she was read the note and sighed sadly. Both with seeing the facts line up with what he read from the diary and to what his comrade must have suffered being interrogated before he died.
"I guess what the chief wrote in his diary was true, but that also leads me to bad news guys. We need a key to get to Kairi inside the Church." Jake explains as he shows Lanna the diary Goofy found for him.
Lanna read the diary and she frowned a bit. "A key..." she said and a little lightbulb light up. "I know what he's talking about. Dad had to get a key to get the doors open to the church for Ashley." She pulled out the files in her bag and looked through the pictures till she found the right one. "If it's the same key that Mandez is talking about and this is what it looks like."
She showed them the picture of the key with the insignia engraved on the front with some other ornate decorations. It had indents on the back like it fit into something and had grooves on the sides that would turn a lock.
Goofy blinked. "Your father managed to keep all of the information?" he asked.
"Yeah but not all," Lanna said, frowning. "Some of the records he couldn't keep were lost or taken when he went to get them back. Those documents were part from the castle and the island where he found Ashley for the last time before rescuing her."
"That's great, Lanna! So where do we find this weird looking key?" Sora asked eager to find it and save Kairi o they can go look for Riku.
"That's where the bad part of the news plays into this, Sora." Jake said having a bad idea what could be waiting for them guarding the key.
Lanna nodded, sighing. "We still don't know what dangers we're going to face here" she said, biting her lower lip. "From dad's notes...the key is located in a cave behind a waterfall."
"That doesn't sound to bad" Donald said, trying to sound optimistic.
"And that includes finding a boat to get over a large lake" Lanna said.
"That's assuming that lake doesn't have a new guardian. Though knowing our luck after your dad killed the last one, I wouldn't bet against it." Jake adds his own two cents with a bitter tone at the word "luck". Luck was not something he could say he was best buddies with or the worst of enemies, more like a complicated relationship that you didn't know where you stand.
"Well, I'm sure we can take whatever comes our way." Sora said trying to assure his friends they would be okay.
Lanna nodded at Jake. "Yeah...last was a giant alligator..." she said shivered a bit. "That was a nightmare for dad and one of the few that really gave him trouble...if you don't count El Gigante, Mr. Claws or the giants with mace full of spikes.'
"Mr. Claws...?" Donald asked weakly.
"Basically a plaga infected man with claws for weapons, blind as a bat and has very sharp hearing. Lashes out an any sound he hears or when he senses you standing too close to him. You can kill him if you trick him into getting his claws stuck to a wall by destroying the plaga on his back. It's his weakest point." Jake informs them remembering being told of Mr. Claws.
"So where do we go from here to get to the key then?" Sora asks wanting to know where they had to head off to. He felt he could handle whatever monsters they sent his way. While fighting in a lake was a worrying thought, he knew he'd be able to take care of himself and the others were clearly strong in their own way.
Lanna nodded. "You don't get much of an opening to shoot at the plaga in his back so you have to be quick" she said and looked at Sora. "Remember that big building next to the tower? The one with the insignia? That's where we have to go to get the lake. It's a short cut and it leads to the church as well. I'm hoping the door is unlocked and that we don't need a key to get it."
Donald grumbled darkly. "What is it with this place and keys!"
"You think this is bad? I remember hearing from Jill and Chris how their first assignment with Wesker and S.T.A.R.S. Alpha team was like in the Spencer Mansion. Almost every door was locked and needed a certain key to open it. Don't even get me started on all the puzzles, traps, and monsters running around inside it made things harder for them." Jake explains remembering that headache of a story. Honestly he actually felt sorry for Chris and Jill after that horrible night.
"Sounds like they could've used my help back then, if I was alive at the time. The keyblade can unlock any lock in existence or lock it up tight as far as I know from experience. I just need a keyhole to work with and I can unlock it or lock it up." Sora explains feeling sympathy for Chris and Jill's night. He wasn't even there and he can imagine the headache it must be if you aren't a keyblade wielder.
Donald groaned lowly at that, shaking his head as he felt a headache forming. "Ugh...I feel bad for them..." he said.
Lanna smiled slightly. "Did you think they would make things easy for us?" she asked as she started walking out the door. "They make us work for our goals." She looked up at the sky, seeing some storm clouds coming. "We better hurry. It's gonna rain by the looks of things."
Goofy nodded. "It'll make things a tiny bit harder."
"But nothing we can't handle, let's go!" Sora cheered ready to save his friends and tackle whatever is in their way. Heading out in step behind Lanna as Jake shook his head following him.
"I take it he's always like this?" Jake asks already feeling like he knew the answer.
"Yup," Goofy said laughing as they followed the two out. "Always. He always tries to be cheerful."
Lanna shook her head, smiling as they made their way to the building. She pulled out her gun and looked at the others, waiting for them to catch up. Once they did, she checked the resistance of the door, by pushing it enough. "It's unlocked guys," she said and pushed it open all the way. Lanna gasped suddenly as a large hand wrapped around her throat, lifting her off the ground as a large bald headed figure came out.
He had a long scraggly black beard with two toned eyes, one red and one blue. He was almost as tall as the monster that Jake and Sherry fought all those years ago.
It was none other than Mandez and he was alive. He glared at the group before turning to look at the struggling Lanna in his hand. "Your his daughter..." he hissed.
"Lanna!" Donald and Goofy cried out.
"Lanna!/Put her down asshole!" Sora calls out in worry and Jake orders at the same time. Jake pulling his Elephant Killer out and shooting his arm in the elbow without hesitation.
Mandez grunted, staggering but never dropped Lanna, only holding her tighter. Lanna gasped as she struggled, her vision going blurry as Donald sent a fire ball at Mandez.
Mandez grunted and threw Lanna at Goofy who caught her. Lanna gasped loudly, breathing heavily.
"They said you would be here, but mark my words humans...you will die here, make no mistake!" Mandez growled as he headed back inside, the door shutting behind him. Lanna coughed, holding her throat. "How the hell...is he still...alive?" she wheezed, seeing the blood spots on the ground where Mandez had been shot.
Goofy held onto her, looking at the giant hand print on her neck.
"Bigger question is who told him we would be here and why was no one waiting for us besides the light resistance we already killed? From what you told me Leon had to fight the whole damn village when he first got here." Jake said checking her neck beside Goofy, glaring at the hand print on her neck and a feeling of fury welling up in him.
Next time he saw that bastard, he would make him suffer for touching Lanna like that.
"So what do we do guys? Go after him or check out a different door? I could force it open with my keyblade if you want. Though I can help you heal that wound on your neck first, should only take a second." Sora asks offering them help in what ways he knew how to and really wanting to heal Lanna's injury, but not without her consent.
Lanna panted and wheezed, shivering as her neck seemed to burn. "We...have to go that way in order to get the key..." she said. "And he did. It's weird that no one else is here yet..." She felt off as the air seemed heavier. Was that a revving sound somewhere she heard in village? She wasn't sure. She breathed a bit easier now.
Goofy and Donald were surprised by how big the guy was and if he did that type of damage to Lanna...what else could he do?
Lanna looked at him. "Heal it? How?" she asked, confused. She knew he knew magic but she didn't even think of him being able to do a healing spell or something.
Jake looked around now hearing the revving sound, but not being able to pin point it. Drawing his gun regardless and standing in front of Lanna protectively, drawing everyone's attention to him.
"Whatever you got in mind to heal Lanna and open the door, Sora, I suggest you do it. I don't think we're going to be alone for very long." Jake said cautiously as his mercenary training and experience was warning him of trouble. The kind of trouble that they was too late to avoid and can only try to fight their way out.
"Sure," Sora said placing a hand gently on Lanna's neck as he raised his keyblade above his head. The tip glowing green as he looked at Lanna warmly. "Trust me okay? This magic will heal you and take your pain away."
Donald and Goofy saw Jake first getting into battle mode before they heard the revving sound. They summoned their weapons, looking worried but ready to fight.
Lanna looked at Sora and nodded, smiling. "I trust you" she said. Lanna did have a tenancy to trust people but once that trust had been broken, she wouldn't trust that person anymore or till they redeemed themselves. "But you may want to hurry." She waited for him, seeing the keyblade.
The revving sound started to grow louder now and closer and it no longer sounded like one as another sound of a machine revving up was soon joined in.
Sora smiles seeing she is willing to trust him and focuses his magic. "Heal!" Sora calls as a green bud appears above their heads and blooms into a beautiful flower. It's leaves falling and touching Sora as he focused part of the energy down his arm on Lanna's neck and into her. Giving her a soothing and blissful feeling as the healing magic worked on her flesh. Instantly healing the bruise and taking away all pain she felt in her body.
Lanna smiled as she waited, seeing the healing up close and personal. She sighed softly as she felt the soothing feel of the magic as it settled on the bruising on her neck. She relaxed a bit as the muscles loosened as they were healed. She blinked and touched her neck, not feeling the heat or the tenderness that was there.
Once the flower was gone the healing wore off and Sora removed his hand. "You should be fine now, but our company seems impatient." Sora said getting into his battle stance which confused Jake never seeing that stance before and couldn't figure out what way Sora was planning to attack.
"Thank you, Sora" she said and nodded. She got up and pulled her gun out. "So they seem and I have a sickening feeling about who they are." She looked at the others and looked at Jake. "Don't let the chainsaws get to close."
Just as she said that, a pair of women in dirty dresses with their faces covered in dirty bandages came at them with bloodied chainsaws.
-Somewhere deep in the village-
A tv screen was showing the battle between the chainsaw wielders and Sora's group. Two figures watched the scenes. Behind them was a cage with two people in it and it was none other than Claire and Leon, Lanna's parents. Claire gasped softly as she saw her daughter fighting those monsters with Jake. She wondered who the boy with the keyblade was and why Donald and Goofy were in this with them. Then again...considering the witch in the room, a part of felt she shouldn't be surprised to see more Disney characters are real.
"That damn boy survived the crash after all..." The witch Claire was thinking of gritted out with a venomous tone. The witch has green skin that was a result of her magic corrupting her body, yellow eyes showing the darkness and evil within her heart, and wearing an all black robe around her body keeping others from seeing anything more of her. A staff in her hand glowing a sickly mix of green and yellow as her rage showed in a small amount of her magic around her body.
"Pure luck" A cold tone said as a man with broad shoulders stood next to her. He was tall with slicked back blond white hair, wearing a suit and dark sunglasses. "He won't be so lucky next time." He turned to look at his prisoners, revealing the owner of the voice. It was none other than Albert Wesker. He smirked.
"Lanna Kennedy will meet her end here with that boy" He said, unaware that he had a son.
Leon glared at him. "Wesker..." Leon stated with hatred in his voice as his protective instincts were going overdrive with nothing to take it out on. "You won't win, one or another you will be stopped." Leon stated not letting himself lose faith that Lanna will be alright. he seen Jake in action against the Ustanak and knew he could hold his own. Heck, he was better at hand to hand than both Chris and himself. While the boy with the keyshaped sword seems to be keeping the chainsaw women on the defensive in his strange combat style. Making it hard for them to kill him as his own attacks keep pushing them back or sending them flying.
He had to hand it to the kid, he was strong, fast, and hard to predict.
"What of Elly? I remember you mentioning you had plans for Chris's daughter, but never said anything more than that?" Maleficent asked with a passive curiosity in her voice.
"Yes...I just have to get her away from her baby sitter, Jake's wife." Wesker said chuckling coldly and looked looked at the one who brought him back to life. "But for now we have enough to deal with. You said that boy is hard to beat with that blade of his and his power."
They all could hear gunshots or spells being shouted out from the tv's as they were given a show. Claire was worried about her baby girl, a hand on her stomach which was swollen with her second child. She never wanted this life for their child but it sadly ran in their blood. Lanna took after them both and had that strong sense of justice and the urge to help others.
She looked at the witch, glaring. "Leave them out of this!"
"Hush, pet, the adults are talking." Maleficent said not even turning as she said this. Focusing on Wesker now as she gestures to the tv.
"As you can see, Wesker, Sora is a tricky opponent to keep down with strength and speed to match. But he is far from invincible or the smartest. What led to my defeat last time was that I underestimated him and let his damn friend Riku pull one over me. If it wasn't for those factors I would've destroyed him myself when he was weak. Now he is stronger and I trained my powers to be better ready for him. Which is where you come in, Wesker, for I can grant you more power. Power combined with your virus can make you much more closer to Godhood. However, make no mistake that you'll have to work hard and risk staring into the abyss to claim the power you seek. For only once you master darkness will your powers start revealing their full potential." Maleficent explains to Wesker as called a few shadows to the room around the cage.
"None to mention that you'll have the heartless at your every whim and command as lesser beings to carry your will. Only the strong and wise can use the darkness and the heartless without being consumed by their own power or the heartless. My plan is to have you help me kill Sora since unlike you, he has one crippling flaw." Maleficent told Wesker as she made the heartless go back to their patrol around their hideout.
Wesker nodded as he listened, looking at the Kennedy's as she spoke. "And what is that?" he asked, arms folded. He remembered waking up in a cave, back to human form. He remembered being finished by Sheva and Chris years ago and since then his hatred for the Redfield had only grown. He had reluctantly agreed to work for the witch.
At this Maleficent grinned darkly. "He's naive and his light is not use to worlds as dark as this. He isn't use to certain levels of death, despair, and fear. He barely brought himself able to kill me and that was only when I turned into a dragon. I believe he has resolve issues with taking human life, but look to see for yourself." Maleficent said gesturing to the tv where they saw Sora knocking around the chainsaw wielders, but hardly going for kill blows. Only ones meant to cripple or knock out his enemies.
"As you can see, for all that power he has, he has trouble bringing himself to kill humans beings unless pushed to a corner. If you kill him before he fully realizes he needs to get serious, your odds are very much in your favor." Maleficent states as the chainsaw wielder got close to killing Goofy, but only to get cut down by a Sora. Who proceeded to have a look of guilt and sorrow on his face. A look that had Leon worried seeing she was right. Sora wasn't use to killing humans or human like enemies.
Claire saw this too and grew worried and grabbed her husband's hand.
Wesker smirked. 'That will be his downfall...as for his friends, they may prove some fight but it would be wise to kill the brat first I assume. His friends will fall" he said, he couldn't believe such a weakling could hold that much power and refuse to use it. "A child isn't destined to have that much power, only a god does and with your help I will reach my goals faster."
At this Maleficent smiled coldly in turn, she was finally gonna have her revenge on the brat for ruining her plans for so long. "I'm glad we agree Wesker and as promised I shall help you in your quest. The universe could use a God to rule it, one who knows what needs to be done and keep those under them in their place." Maleficent agreed looking forward to a partnership with the strongest of the Wesker family. She had considered Alex Wesker once she read the reports, but Albert Wesker had more experience as a fighter and was far more clever in Maleficent's opinion.
She was tired of dealing with fools as subjects and wanted only the best to work alongside her. Pete was a headache enough as it is and honestly she wondered if he would be more useful as a B.O.W. experiment or as himself...
"Maleficent!" Ah, speak of the devil, "I-I got those virus samples you and Wesker had ordered me to get!" Pete said coming through a dark corridor to reveal a very fat cat with blue and red overalls. His frame showing power in his arms, but due to his weight he was rather slow. Sadly he wasn't all that bright either, but he still had his uses for Maleficent's plans as long as the tasks were simple.
Wesker raised a brow at the fat cat, wondering why Maleficent kept him around but he guessed he was useful for something. "Good..." he said, his arms behind his back, looking back at the screens. "We can put forward the plan in motion. Mandez is a nuisance and wouldn't even be around if it wasn't for his Lord...we'll see if he can slow down these children or the new...pet that waits for them in the water."
Claire grabbed the bars. 'Wesker! What the hell are you planning?" she demanded, shaking the bars. She remembered what Leon had told her about the monster in the lake. She didn't want to have Lanna or the others to face it as well.
"That's none of your concern for the moment, Mrs. Kennedy. Though perhaps you should be more concerned for your unborn child." Maleficent told the redhead mother coldly, making Leon glare at the witch for the threat to both his wife and his soon to be son.
"If I wasn't in this cage, I'd tear your head off." Leon told her which made Maleficent scoff. A weak fool like him thinks he has a chance against her? The Queen of darkness? He was as big a fool as Sora, only not as naive. Refocusing her attention to Pete, she decided to address an issue she needed to be clear about.
"Indeed we shall, I personally think your little pet is more useful than that fool Mendez if I was honest." Maleficent said fully agreeing with his statement about Mendez's obsession with his "lord".
"That said, Pete, you better have made sure to have gotten ALL of the ingredients. I'd hate for Wesker to be short on supplies." Maleficent warned Pete as he started waving his hands in front of him in hopes of keeping her calm. He really didn't want to get blasted again.
"D-Don't worry about that, Maleficent. I got everything on the list. I got the T-virus, the G-virus, T-veronica virus from that Steve guy's corpse in that base Wesker mentioned, the T-phobos virus from that island you told me to go to, and finally the last remains of the C-virus from Carla's lab. All as ordered and as many samples as I could find!" Pete said showing the large crates he brought with it, firmly sealed and secured.
"Good, now I got a new job for you. While Wesker and I are gone to deal with private affairs, you'll be guarding these two. They are not to leave those cages for any reason, is that understood." Maleficent ordered Pete as he gulped in fear sensing her magic rise a little with her underlined threat.
"O-of course! Leave it to the mighty Pete!" Pete said as Maleficent rolled her eyes at the pathetic underling, but as long as he knew his place. She'd leave him be for now.
"Shall we get started, Wesker? I believe we have much to do to make your revenge complete." Maleficent offered as she used her magic to levitate the crates with careful and precise ease. She wouldn't risk the samples that could help her new ally and herself claim their revenge.
Wesker nodded, smirking as he was enjoying how this witch thought. "Yes, let us go. And Pete? Don't dare fail us" he said as he ignored the glares of Leon and Claire as the door opened behind them. He strode out with Maleficent behind him and the crates. The plans they had would give the group hell and anyone else foolish enough to get in the way of the plans.
Claire glared at the retreating backs of their captures and looked at her husband, worried. 'Leon...our baby is out there..." she said, showing weakness as a mother would if their child was in danger. She didn't doubt Jake as she knew he would protect Lanna but knowing her daughter, she wouldn't think of her own safety when it came to others. She was worried.
"I know, honey, I know. We just have to believe in Jake and their new friends. At least until we can think of something." Leon said trying to assure his wife, before hearing Pete's laughter cut in.
"I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you losers. Maleficent isn't playing around this time and I can say from experience how scary she can be once serious. Sora may have kept us from our goals in the past, but he won't be a problem with our new partner." Pete said taking a seat and watching the tv screen to see Jake finish killing the last chainsaw wielder to save Lanna.
"Though I wonder why this guy familiar...Weird." Pete said shrugging of the thought of Jake's looks reminding him of someone.
Claire glared at Pete and sighed heavily, nodding as she held onto Leon's hand, head lowered. They both knew why Jake looked familiar. She just hoped that Wesker didn't find out. She honestly liked Jake, thinking him as a good kid.
They watched on the screen as the chainsaw was taken down and Lanna making sure Jake was alright as well as the others as they all looked winded from their battle.
