Forever Yours

Chapter 1: I failed!

Kagome couldn't believe her eyes as she stared at the board in front of her. Looking down at her ticket number, her heart started to pound at a million thumps per second. Her mouth gaped open as she realized her number wasn't on the board.

"I can't believe I failed", she said. "Why does everything BAD have to happen to me!?"

She suddenly realized all eyes were on her. "Oh, how embarrassing!", she thought. She quickly scurried away from the crowd looking thoroughly disappointed. All that studying, all the effort, it felt as if it were all for nothing. She laughed nervously. "And to think I sacrificed all that time away from the feudal era when I could have been helping the guys out!" Though she was supposed to be a school girl in the first place!
Thinking back, Kagome couldn't help but let her feelings show as sadness quickly turned into hatred. She found herself wishing that she had never traveled to the feudal era. All this mess wouldn't be happening right now, and she would probably have a decent boyfriend on her arm. Sighing hopelessly, she started for home thinking over how her family would take this.

"Wait up, wait for us!", shouted Ayumi.

Kagome froze as Ayumi, Yuka, and Eri ran up to her. She quickly shoved her ticket into her backpack as she turned to wait for them.

"Hey you guys.", she said. "What's happening."
"We were wanting to ask you the same thing!", Yuki shouted out of breath. "You rushed out of the school so fast, we were unsure what happened to you! Is everything okay?"
"Yea…", she hesitated. "I'm fine, really you guys! No need to worry about me! How'd you do on your exams?" She truly wanted to die waiting for their answers, as she knew all of them passed but her. What was she going to do without her friends? She wanted to go to high school just as bad as the next 9th grader.
Before allowing anyone to blurt anything out, Kagome quickly came up with an excuse to go home.
"Hey look you guys, I'd love to chat but…", she scrambled for words. "Gramps is sick, and I promised I would come straight home after I found out my exam scores. I promise I'll call you guys later!" She started running the other direction without looking back.
Home was closer than she thought it would be. She ran to her room shutting the door and locking it behind her only to stay there as long as she could. She kept thinking back to what could have been done to prevent all of this from happening.
"Maybe I could go to summer school and be in the 10th grade before the school year starts.", she thought aloud. "Yea! I'll call the school first thing in the morning for my options." She lied down on her bed and fell asleep until morning.
