"I want everyday to be like New Year for my Grandma." He remembered that conversation so clearly, like it was yesterday, and all he'd said was 'Southern'. He'd laughed it off, simply smiling at him as they went into the retirement home, but she had meant everything she had said about her Grandmother, and she had fore filled that promise. Every day had been a celebration; right up to the day she had died.

He'd only met the woman on two occations, and both times he'd seen how much the old woman had loved her granddaughter, how close the two of them had been. Calleigh and her grandmother were the only two members of their family that weren't alcoholics. The two of them had meant a lot to each other.

It had been a week since the funeral, and Calleigh's eyes still seemed as though they were looking past everything, to another world, to another person. The tears had subsided, but he still held her at night, as she lay awake for hours, unable to sleep. He told her it was okay, that she could still be upset, but she had just shock her head, turning away from him to curl up in the covers.

She whispered something he couldn't see, bending down to place her floor at the foot of the headstone, before turning and walking away.

"You doing okay?" She nodded, looking up into his concerned face, trying to smile slightly at him, to rid the sorrow that was reflected in his eyes from hers. He pulled her in to a hug, softly stroking her golden hair, entwining his fingers around the silky soft locks. Her head was buried in his chest, arms around his neck, tears slowly seeping out her eyes, falling onto his shirt. Neither of them noticed.

"It's your turn you know." She looked up at him, a questioning in her eyes. He smiled, brushing back some of her hair with his free hand. "Your turn to have New Year every day." She smiled, leaning into him again, gently planting a kiss on his chest. He kissed the top of her head before drawing her head up and planting a kiss on her lips, pulling her closer to him.

"I already have that." She whispered, reclaiming his lips. He just smiled into it as fireworks erupted around them.
