He didn't remember exactly how long he had been staring at the stars, waiting and wishing that she'd come down in some sort of capsule or ship.

Hands outstretched towards him, and those almost almond eyes glistening and accenting smooth skin...

It was always her smile that did it for him, that peach fuzz grace.

He was always waiting, anxious for the glow in the phone. The words: "I'm here."

He didn't like to think that it wasn't always in vain, but it was painful- because she'd told him not to wait.

"Every person in life you meet... you see them all differently... Nobody is ever the same as anyone..."

She was no exception.

He couldn't compare her to anyone, and really couldn't compare anyone to her either.

But there he was, staring staring out into the sky, thinking about her farewell words and comparing them to anyone else's.

"You're just a kid, y'know?"

Her squinting eyes, and the flippant finger guns snapping at him like lightning, "you gotta work on it. Find something out there for yourself. Space is such a big big place..."

Yeah... as if it was that easy...

He smiled when he thought about it, because he knew that she was out there, searching for the love of her life, just living and fighting like she always did. (so determined, her heart.) and he could see that her wanderlust was the beauty.

Her wanderlust however, was also the sadness.

He looked at his hands, older. More tired.

He'd been staring the sky for so long it felt he'd forgotten the things he once knew about himself.

"Don't be an idiot..."

It always came down to telling himself that. Ending the night-beginning the morning more like-with those words.

And it was true, he sat outside and stared into the galactic vibes of space, and wished with all his being to ride alongside her.

But he had been some stuck up kid.

It always came down to one last glance at the stars, wishing she could see.

"I've grown now..."
