The Last Year: An Original Story
"Prologue"
Thump, thump.
Thump, thump.
The night breeze was blowing against her face as she was being dragged away from loud noises.
The moonlight and night lights lit their way through the dark streets.
She did not realize it at first, but Lyn noticed that she was running. But to where?
She looked down at her right hand and saw another's hand enveloped around her own. Her eyes followed the hand up to the arm, to the shoulder, then to the hair flowing from the other's head. Blonde, wavy hair.
"…Rebekah." Lyn called out. Lyn felt herself shouting, but the words were muffled.
…darkness…
Suddenly Rebekah was facing Lyn with a worried face.
"It's time to remember, Evie." Rebekah told the other girl. And with those words, Lyn recalled things she thought impossible to forget in the first place.
"Rebekah?" Lyn whispered.
"Just run, Evie!" Those were the words Lyn could last recall before realizing that she was running fast away from the city.
Logic had no priority now. The only instinct left in Lyn was to run, and to run away fast now because something was after her.
