"Mummy where we going?" the little girl asked,
"Somewhere safe, somewhere far away from danger" her mother replied. Her mother held her child as she ran as fast as she could. Her mother's hair had turned brown from the environment while her daughters were a bright blonde.
'Why isn't daddy coming with us?' the child asked,
"Because he...he doesn't want to' her mother lied. She always felt bad when she lied to her daughter but how could she explain herself? How could she explain about how evil and cruel he was? To her daughter this was all normal. The mother ran to the edge of the land as far away from him as she could and looked up.
"Praise my sister's they did it!" the mother smiled as she saw a small portal up in the roof. She placed her daughter down and knelled down so she was face to face.
"Sophia, I want you to listen to me, I want you to pass this note to my sisters and if not them someone you trust" her mother said sadly as she placed the note in her daughters dress pocket.
"Now I don't want you to come looking for daddy either, he is a bad man and daddy would rather you stay but daddy won't you allow you to be free and explore like you want' her mother tried explaining. The mothers words slurred and she kept looking behind her back.
"Mummy why are you crying?" the little girl asked. Her mother wiped her tears and hugged her daughter as if it was for the last time.
"I love you so much" she said
"I love mummy more" the little girl giggled as if to her this all was a game. The mother weakly spread out her wings, once white and graceful where now black from ash covered with sweat and blood. She flapped her wings as fast as she could holding her daughter trying to reach the porthole.
"Angelica" a voice boomed out echoing against the walls.
"Daddies coming' the girl laughed. Her mother couldn't tell how far he was. Sophia's hearing was incredible but with the sound of his footsteps her mother flew higher reaching for the porthole as her damaged wings struggled to carry them. She pushed her daughter up unsure where she would end up in the human world but hoped her sisters were waiting. Her daughter sat on the edge looking at her mother flying. Her mother used her regaining strength to hold onto the edge. She pulled herself so her feet where still dangling. Suddenly she felt a sharp tug on her legs.
"Where do you think your going?" the voice was dark and her mother was too afraid to look down to see what shape he had taken.
"You're not going anywhere" he laughed tugging on her legs again. He was incredibly strong and her mother held to the porthole by her fingertips. As she gripped on the porthole kept getting smaller and smaller. Her daughter looked to her mother pleadingly
"Mommy!" she cried. She looked to her daughter knowing that the porthole was closing to fast for her to fight back and climb out off, the fact was she wasn't strong enough anymore.
"Remember what I said" the mother cried "be brave baby girl" the porthole closed up clipping her fingers. Her mother dropped as the man watched as she fell on her back. Her wings snapped as the pain surged throughout her body, she knew she would never be able to fly again. He walked over and lifted her up by her hair, he had changed so he looked like a human been.
"Where is she?" he growled.
