When Ginny had raced across the Common Room towards him, eyes blazing, red hair flaring out dramatically behind her, his first instinct had been to catch her in his arms in celebration of their win, that's what he had done with all of his other teammates. Hugs, lifting them into the air, manly pounds on the back, they were all ecstatic. What he hadn't been expecting was for her lips to attach themselves onto his, rather aggressively he might add. He least expected himself to respond to the kiss just as enthusiastically. He heard, almost in the back of his mind, the rest of the Gryffindors cheering wildly and carrying on with their celebrations. Opening his eyes slightly he thought he caught a glimpse of bushy hair disappearing through the portrait and his mind stuttered over the idea of Hermione running away from the celebrations. Possibly because of what he was doing with Ginny? That thought made him break away from the kiss, offering Ginny a small smile and indicating his head towards a quieter corner of the Common Room. Her eyes widened briefly before a sultry look overcame her features, she quickly nodded and took his hand as he led her away from the middle of the room and the rest of the partiers.

"Ginny… I don't really know how to say this –" he began to stammer out before he was cut off by the fiery redhead.

"I didn't feel anything either Harry. Perhaps it was a bit foolish of me to assume that my childhood crush on you could become something. But really Harry, it felt like kissing Ron." Her nose wrinkled in disgust at the thought, and she leaned in to kiss him on the cheek in apology.

"I've got to go find Dean, we've some things to talk about." With one last hug between the two of them, she began weaving her way through the throng of people in the room, searching for her ex-boyfriend. Harry sighed in relief as he watched her leave, turning his thoughts to wondering where Hermione had gone to, and why hadn't she returned by now?

As he thought more about his bushy haired best friend he wondered why he was so concerned. He had never been one for emotions, and rarely in his life had he ever seriously considered deep feelings for someone. Cho had been an infatuation, and his brief kiss with Ginny was on account of a lingering crush on her part, not his. However when he truly thought about it, his attraction to Hermione was based on something deeper, something far more natural. He had first realised her beauty not at the Yule Ball, although that had only reinforced what he already thought, but during their first year. Harry remembered looking at her following the infamous 'Chess Incident' that the Trio were fond of joking about now, and thinking that he had never met someone more beautiful than her.

As his thoughts continued down this line, Harry had not realised that his feet had led him away from the Common Room, out into the numerous corridors that Hogwarts was full of. Absentmindedly he noticed that he was headed towards the Astronomy Tower, he knew that was where Hermione always headed whenever she wanted to get away from her arguing with Ron.

He wondered if she would be there now.
