Rodney continued trying to reassemble the delicate piece of equipment that was so necessary for their survival; knowing that at any minute if he didn't fix it, they would be attacked by the mob gathering outside the room.

"McKay, Aren't you done yet? Sheppard asked him from somewhere behind.

Rodney stopped what he was doing, "No, I don't have a repair manual for this ,so I'm winging it."

"Well, hurry it up. Ronon and Teyla can't hold the hordes back much longer. They're all getting angry. We're dead if you don't get it fixed!"

"Yes, yes, I'm doing the best I can, I don't have a degree in mechanics!" Rodney snapped back.

"Rodney," John warned angrily.

Rodney's blue eyes narrowed, "Step back and let me finish, or we will all be dead! Including a certain very annoying Colonel"

Sheppard gave him a dirty look, then left as Rodney continued to carefully put the wires back inside the shell and attach the outside covers.

Once it was together he pushed the button, but to his horror nothing happened.

"I'm so dead!"

Failure was something he hated, but then he noticed the power source was still disconnected and quickly attached it. Much to his delight the item lit up.

"Yes!" He shouted, as both Sheppard and Dr Weir came running over.

"McKay?"Sheppard questioned.

"Rodney, you've fixed it?" Elizabeth asked.

Rodney's blue eyes twinkled as he smiled smugly at both of them, "Sheppard, hand me that container and Elizabeth, I need those two items beside you."

He assembled the rest of the pieces and finally pushed the switch to turn it on. It started to hum and do what it was meant to do.

"We're saved." John sighed.

"Good work, Rodney." Weir patted his back and gave him a warm smile of gratitude.

He smiled triumphantly in return,"Tell Ronon and Teyla to let everyone in to the mess, coffee will be ready in 10 minutes."

" Yes indeed!", he said happily, as he watched them leave.

"Just call me Mr. Fix-it!"

End :)
