Disclaimer: I so do not own Harry Potter. If I did... long story short, I'd be rich. And Sirius and Remus would be total cannon. ;D
A/N:
Whoot! So I'm finally rolling out Imperfect Angels~! _' I know it took forever. But I had recent inspiration and it's all dedicated to Deadlyninjabee! I abandoned her for like six or seven months... she really is an awesome internet best friend. v.v But this is her story. ;D
Basically... this is an AU fic. Kinda. Basically, Voldemort still killed Lily and James, but Severus also died that night. But Sirius was never blamed for it. ;D And then Remus dies in a car crash (the fuck?). It all becomes to much for Sirius. Oh, and Harry lives with Sirius. XP And then we hit the actual story. ;) Anyways, you may begin reading - if you haven't already. -_-'
Imperfect Angels: Crowning Angels
Chapter One
Sirius had sunk into a depression. Ever since Remus had died in that fatal car crash... he felt he had no one. Of course, there was his faithful and caring godson, Harry... but now more than ever it was a blow to his heart to look at him and see two of his best friends - Lily and James - at once.
He had lost most everyone he had loved and cared for, in a matter of years.
He'd even lost the one he loved most.
Sirius had always held Remus dear to his heart, since the first time they'd met in first year, when Sirius had fended off a pack of bullies from Remus. He had felt a deep connection with the smaller, fragile boy, and he had considered it sacred. After Sirius had matured in years, he realized he had come to love Remus - and as more than a brother. Sirius had been too bashful to admit it to Remus - he didn't want to scare off the other man and he didn't want to face rejection. He had kept his feelings as his deepest secret for many years.
Just under a year ago, he had finally told Remus how he had felt all those years, and he had also said he was ashamed to be twenty-two and just now getting around to telling the werewolf. Remus had readily accepted his feelings, having been going through the same torture as Sirius.
They had finally proclaimed each other as theirs - emotionally, physically, and spiritually. And look what happened - Remus had to get on the taxi. The taxi that was fated to get into a crash at an intersection. Sirius couldn't help but feel guilty about it. Remus had been on his way to see him.
...:...:Flashback:...:...
"Sirius, I'm sure everything will be just fine and dandy," Remus chuckled over his phone. Sirius could be such a worrier sometimes.
"I just don't trust Muggle transportation devices though."
"You trusted a train well enough to take you to and from school every year, didn't you?" Remus pointed out.
"Touche," Remus could hear Sirius' smile over the phone.
"Look, Sirius, I've got to catch a taxi. I'll call you right back once I'm inside one, alright?"
"Alright, love you," Sirius said hesitantly, hanging up the phone. He didn't like not being in contact with Remus for too long. Remus was just so fragile... what if something happened? Or what if something managed to set off the wolf inside? These thoughts plagued Sirius until he could get a hold of Remus again.
Within minutes, the land-line at Grimmauld Place rang, and Sirius picked it up without missing a beat.
"See, love? Everything's okay." Sirius breathed a sigh of relief.
"Thank Godric. So, how long do you think it'll be?"
"From London? Well, I'd assume only from around thirty minutes to the hour. Impatient are we?"
"I'm always impatient to see you," Sirius answered.
"I-" But Remus was quickly cut off.
"Remus?" Sirius questioned, panic rising within him.
He heard sounds of crashing and car horns going off. He also heard shouting and cries of distress from the other side of the phone.
"Remus!" He shrieked. He quickly did a locating spell on Remus, and then Apparated to his location as quickly as possible.
He popped up right in the midst of a four-car pile-up in the middle of an intersection. He saw a car that could only be the taxi, and quickly ran to it. He pried away the smashed car door, and gently lifted Remus out of it.
"Remus...?" Sirius asked, sadness creeping up into his usually seductive tone.
"Sirius..." Remus answered, in a voice too far away. He gingerly lifted a hand to Sirius' face before it dropped back down. "I... love... you..." his head titled to the side, and his amber eyes fluttered shut.
"Remus? Remus!" Sirius tried shaking his companion and lover awake. But those warm eyes did not open. A single tear slid down Sirius' cheek, as ambulances and police cars flooded the scene.
...:...:Present-Time:...:...
Sirius, lost in thought, had wandered to the kitchen and poured himself a glass of finely-aged wine. It was a habit he'd taken to, these days. And no matter how hard he tried to quit - for Harry's sake - he couldn't.
It just helped to ease the pain, emotionally and psychologically.
He was on his third glass of wine, when he heard soft footsteps padding down the stairs. "Sirius?" A three-year-old Harry questioned. He was too young to comprehend most things, but he knew Sirius wasn't his father and that Sirius had suffered a tragic loss. Sirius smiled grimly down at Harry, his heart hurting for three reasons.
"Yeah, champ?"
"You okay?" His large, doe-like green eyes sparkled even in the dim-lighting. Sirius squatted down next to the boy who was clad in blue footy pajamas and carrying around a tattered baby blanket decorated with bears.
"Yeah, Sirius is... okay." Harry lifted his arms - the universal symbol of children for a hug - and Sirius readily obliged. He hefted the tot upwards, positioning him on his hip.
Harry wiped at the skin under Sirius' eyes, his small, chubby hands collecting a few tears. "Sirius is crying. He is not okay." Harry stated.
A couple more silent tears fell down Sirius' cheeks. Harry noticed and his fat little lower lip began to quiver. "Awe, Harry, don't cry... you don't need to cry..." Harry let a tear slide down his pink cheek. Sirius kissed it away, grey eyes smiling down at the young boy.
"See Harry? I'm okay... Sirius is okay..." Harry hiccuped slightly. "Now let's get you back up to bed."
"Sirius?"
"Yeah?"
"Can... Can I sleep wif you tonight?" Sirius gave into the toddler, and carried him upstairs to his room. Gently, he lied the already sleeping child in his large bed. He slid off his clothes and slipped into some comfortable pajama pants, and crawled into bed. Truth be told, he often let Harry stay in his room. It was just too lonely without Remus there to hold. That, and the thought of sleeping without him just tore him up inside.
He wasn't sure how much more he could take the pain.
"Harry, I love you." Sirius whispered into the night, more tears finding their way down saddened cheeks.
A/N:
So, how was the first chapter? Love it, hate it, rate it? This is just to introduce characters and setting... xD Y'know, no action yet. ;D And in this story, there has to be death before there can be war... o.o And someone has to go through Hell to get to Heaven. ;)
Sorry if this was a little sad/depressing. D: Most of this story is going to be like that. Well, until we get to the fun parts that is. xD So really, this genre is Adventure/Drama/Romance, but I just want to go with adventure. :D
Please review? They fuel me to write! :D
Oh, and Deadlyninjabee? Was the first chapter good? xD
P.S., I'll be updating this in-between updates with my other in-progress story Operation: Matchmaker. However, I don't know how many of you want to read that, considering it's a Yu-Gi-Oh! GX story. xD (My nerd-ness is showing... oh my!) Buuuut if I get plenty of review I'll be sure to update faster. ;D Now off, my review minions! Lend me fuel!
