A/N: Kinda dumb, and not exactly fitting in with Obi-Wan's character, but that's what fanfiction is for, right? I'd also like to add that I partially got this idea from an Enterprise story entitled "The One That Couldn't Be" by Josephine

Another A/N: I realize, for you who have read the JA books, that the girl in this story shares her name with a planet, but I liked it so I used it.

Enjoy.

He ducked around a corner, careful to avoid any other Jedi. He had to be careful not to be caught, as what he was doing was already against the code.

Down the hallway he moved, and slipped inside a unused room. She was already there, waiting for him inside.

"We have to stop meeting like this!" he whispered, leaning over to kiss her on the cheek.

She smiled softly back at him, but he noticed that something was amiss. There was a sadness to her eyes, and he felt pain emanating from her Force signature.

"What is it, what's wrong?" he asked worriedly, moving closer to her. His sea-colored eyes became troubled, and he wrapped a protective arm around her.

"Obi-Wan..." she started, but did not finish. She looked downward, her brown hair forming a curtain around her face.

He brushed it back behind her ear gently, and leaned in so he could see her. "Come on, 'Lia, you can tell me. What is it, love?"

"I...I'm pregnant."

Her words hung in the air like a thick fog, as Obi-Wan went into shock. Pregnant? How could this be? Emotions and thoughts ran unchecked through his mind as he tried in vain to contemplate this.

Him. A father.

Questions joined the rest of the chaos in his head. What would the Council do? He and Melia were only Padawans. They would surely be expelled...

And what to do with the baby? Obi-Wan was only eighteen, and could barley keep his room clean, let alone take care of a child.

But even as these panicked emotions ran through his head, a new feeling of warmth and elation ran through him. His and Melia's child. They could have a family together, and not have to hide their love anymore, not from anyone.

A voice cut through his thoughts. Melia was speaking again, and Obi-Wan redirected his attention to her.

"...the healers said that I would be fine, but I had lost the baby..." Melia started to cry softly as she struggled to finish her sentence, "I'm sorry, Obi, I'm so sorry." She began to shake, racked with silent tears of grief.

He felt numb. To have such a precious gift come to him, and to have it stolen away in a matter of moments... It hurt. It hurt him all through, through his heart and soul.

But he knew that someone else hurt more. She had carried this new life, and had lost it. He brought her into his arms, and together they sobbed for their lost child.
