AN: This is my first story, so keep that in mind. Please comment!

He couldn't believe that the baby he had once held in his arms was the man everyone feared.

I failed.

The day Ben had been born was the best day of his life. He had been terrified. Leia had believed that he would be the best father.

I'm sorry Leia.

The day Ben had fallen to the dark side had been the worst. He blamed himself. He thought that he could have prevented it. He thought he could have saved him.

I'm sorry Ben.

Then Luke had disappeared, and that was the straw that broke the camel's back. He left for even longer periods of time. His and Leia's relationship had only gotten worse. He remembered the screaming matches they had. He remembered the silence. The silence was the worst. He thought that be leaving, Leia would be happier.

I failed.

Seeing his son was hard. Seeing Leia was harder. All the pain he had buried deep inside rose up the surface. Looking at her made him remember all he had lost, and all he had thrown away.

I still love you.

She asked him to bring their son home. Despite everything, her faith in him had never wavered. They both knew that what she asked was almost impossible, but he didn't care. He would do anything for her, for them.

Even after everything, you're still my son.

Seeing Ben without his mask was like seeing him for the first time. The same fear rose up from the depths of his soul. He wished he could turn back the clock to when Ben still loved him.

Come home.

He felt the light saber go through his chest. He heard Rey and Finn's screams. Chewie's bloodcurdling howl sent shivers down his spine, but he only had eyes for his son. Ben pulled the light saber out, and he reached up to touch his son's cheek. He tried to say something, but his mouth wouldn't work. Then he fell.

I failed you Ben. I failed you Leia.
