They are waiting for her as soon as she gets back.
Half-asleep and travel-stained, Martha almost falls over the first package, placed neatly on the doormat and wrapped in stiff brown paper, with breathing holes punched around the top.
Inside is a large earthenware pot, from which protrudes a stub of what looks like greenish-yellow coral. A piece of paper taped around it reads, in a familiar sloping scrawl: 140 years and still growing strong!
And, underneath; check the kitchen.
Wide awake now, Martha hefts her bag over one shoulder and swings open the door.
On the kitchen table are three more gifts. At the top, a framed certificate emblazoned with the Torchwood logo and printed with black ink.

Beneath that is a folded cotton shirt, exactly her size.
I SAVED THE WORLD AND ALL I GOT WAS THIS LOUSY T-SHIRT
Last and smallest of all is a plain white envelope. When Martha opens it a silver chain slithers out, along with a note.
For the key.
Team sends their love, and hope they'll see you up there sometime.
Janet isn't the same without you. She tried to board a train to London the other day, but we got her back okay.
Thinking of you in Cardiff,

Martha flips the paper over and gives a snort of laughter. Glued to the back is a photograph of Ianto, grinning shyly out at her from beneath an enormous red beret.
Thanks for the cap!
