Running.

It was the only thing I remembered before the pain.

Searing, burning pain, that crawled up my flesh, and made its way through my clothes.

Writhing, panting, I would surely die. Funny, to my species, we had fire proof skin.. and water… water became our flame. But I didn't have time to think about this now, because black felt swept across my head on the sidewalk. God, did I hate the person behind that felt.

Dib.

It had been a few years that I'd known that worm. We were 14 now, and he still hasn't given up. I was just walking home from school, and I was perfectly fine with walking under the building gutters when it started to rain. But, of course, the little mole has to chase me out in the rain! What an… an… Well, anyway, right now I expected him to put me in some stupid sleeper cuffs. I was vulnerable right now, wasn't I? He could have what he wanted. He COULD have been smart about this whole situation.

But… the little worm did something I never expected him to do. He picked me up.

What was I doing?

I dunno.

Why was I doing this?

I dunno.

Where were we going?

Well, Zims base.

Who's gonna be there?

Gir. He knows where the med kit is, right?

It was then I remembered that is was running, and bouncing along to fast at that. Just for the sake of the whimpering soaked rat in my arms, I slowed down.

*ding dong.*

A familiar cyan-eyed android answered the door.

"HI MARY!" I pinched the skin in between my eyes. Could his voice get any shriller?

"Hi, Gir…."

It was then I realized that Gir was covered in syrup and had a rubber pig taped to his antennae. Gross. You know, maybe in Gir's case, the whole being-tall-really-matters-about-intelligence thing, as untrue as it may be for Zim, Gir was about 2 feet tall and had to be dumber than a sparrow. I quietly whispered for him to be gentle while dressing the Irkens burn wounds, smiled inwardly, and went home, leaving my umbrella on the porch.

My little gift.
