Hey everyone! I know I haven't posted in a while so I figured I would put this one shot up. I hope you all enjoy it. Please R&R!

Alec's P.O.V.

I turned over in bed and reached over into the space next to me but instead of finding a person I got I fist full of sheets. Not very long ago that wouldn't have bothered me, but lately I've spent so many nights sharing a bed with Magnus that even when I'm alone in my own twin size bed I expect him to be there next to me. I slowly opened my eyes to scan the room. A quick glance at the clock told me that it was 2 in the morning. Moving my gaze to the other side of the room, I saw Magnus sitting on the stool from his vanity in front of the window, the curtains pulled to the side, staring out into the night. Bright moonlight poured in through the window making it easy to see most of the room. Magnus let out a sigh, which filled the silent room. I got out of bed and made my way over to him. As I approached, he said over his shoulder, "Did I wake you?" still mostly focused on the night before him.

"No," I answered softly. After a few beats of silence I said, "Come back to bed."

"No, I can't sleep," he said as if he was going to add more but stopped himself. I walked up behind him and wrapped my arms around him, sliding my hands down his chest until them met near his belly button where I intertwined my fingers. I softly rested my chin on his head.

"Are you alright?" I asked in almost a whisper.

"It's just … I've been around for so long that all the things I've seen … They haunt me," he answered, his voice sounded hallow, "Most of the time they're not even specific memories. They're just flashes, like a slide show of my past that lingers in my mind."

"That's the past, how you live now is what you have to focus on," I said in hopes that my words would quiet his restless mind.

"I know … But at night, sometimes it's hard to shake." he said weakly.

"Come back to bed and I'll tell you a story." I said a smile curling my lips at the end.

"Alec, I'm not three. I don't need a bedtime story," he said sounding almost offended.

"I know that. It's just something to take your mind off of it," I said while taking his hand and leading him to bed.

"You know, I only go along with these things because you're cute," he stated.

Once we were both back in bed, Magnus with his head on my chest and my arms wrapped around him, I started my story.

"Once upon a time there was a shadowhunter who had a best friend. They were closer than just friends, they were like brothers. Even though sometimes the shadowhunter's friend was a jerk and ... "

"Sometimes?" Magnus scuffed.

"Just listen to the story please," I asked, " So not everyone liked the shadowhunter's friend but they were the only two people who really understood each other. The shadowhunter also had a sister, who didn't always think everything though..."

"Like when she left a mundie unattended at a downworlder party."

"Yes like that, but she was tough and determined and quick with her whip. She acted like she didn't care what people thought of her but she always tried to be the best shadowhunter she could be."

"One day the shadowhunter met a warlock who was cute and sarcastic and maybe a little bit clingy," I paused to see his reaction to my little jab but there was only silence. His chest was moving evenly, his breaths were deep and slow. I turned my head slightly to look at his face and saw that his I were closed. He had fallen asleep.
