Kaoru's truth.
Chapter 1
Why did you kill him?
Shinji sat in a cold metal chair, facing his father,
"Shinji, why did you kill Kaoru?"
"He... he was an Angel! It is my job to kill the angels!!"
"Why did you kill him?"
"He was an angel?"
"WHY DID YOU KILL HIM, SHINJI?"
"HE WAS AN ANGEL!!!"
"What makes you think Kaoru was an angel?"
"What?"
"Answer me."
"You told me!"
"Who told you?"
"YOU TOLD ME, FATHER!"
"No one mentioned anything about Kaoru being an angel."
"KAORU WAS AN ANGEL! THAT'S WHY I KILLED HIM!"
Misato sighed deeply. "Shinji......"
He reminisced on the events that had unfolded the day before.
"Was Shinji.... hallucinating?"
She remembered everything that had happened. During the synch rating tests, Evangelion Unit 01 had started moving. Shinji had attacked and killed Kaoru. She remembered him attacking, screaming.... "YOU LIED TO ME! YOU HURT MY FEELINGS!"
Shinji had attacked and destroyed Unit 2, screaming out Kaoru's name.
"But why....."
"Shinji Ikari. I have no choice but to discharge you."
"I DIDN'T WANT KAORU T-"
(slap.)
Shinji recoiled. "Father... you BASTARD!" Shinji leapt up, trying to punch his father. Gendo grabbed Shinji's fists. "GUARDS!" Guards swarmed in, shooting tranquilizers into Shinji.
"I... hate...y...."
Shinji found himself later in a padded cell. "Kaoru was an angel... I killed him because he was an angel! IF KAORU WASN'T AN ANGEL, WHO THE HELL IS???"
"I'm on my way."
Misao leapt into her car, and began driving as fast as she could towards NERV headquarters. "The final angel is attacking.... who will pilot?"
Akagi raced into Shinji's room.
"Shinji, the final angel has appeared. We need you to pilot Unit 1!"
"I already killed the final angel."
"Shinji....."
"Go away. I destroyed the final angel. I have no reason to get back into the Evangelion!"
"That was a hallucination! The final angel is here right now!"
"I will not pilot Unit 1 again!"
Asuka lay in her hospital bed, "There are no pilots left..... that bitch is about the only one left who could do it... we're all doomed."
Shinji grabbed at his head. "The final angel is gone! I killed it! I saved us! Go away!"
"Shinji,"
"KAORU?"
Akagi gasped. "Is this another hallucination?"
Shinji heard Kaoru inside his head. "Shinji. Do it. Kill the final angel."
"I already did that! Why won't everyone just leave me alone???"
"That's not really what you want, is it Shinji?"
"How would you know?? You're an angel! An ANGEL!"
Unit 00 burst above the ground the face the final angel. It was shaped like an octopus, right down to the tentacles. It's symbol was right in the middle of it's body.
"Ok Rei, you know what to do."
"Yes, Commander Ikari."
Unit 00 sped at the angel. There was a flash of light.....
Misato ran into headquaters. "What's happening?"
"Unit 00 has gone silent!"
"WHAT?"
Rei gasped and writhed in pain. "Arghhhh..."
The angel reached out, rapping a tentacle around Unit 00's neck, cracking it.
"REI!"
There was another explosion, and all the monitors went silent and blank.
Akagi gasped. "Rei is gone.... what have.... what have I done?"
Shinji felt the ground shaking. "What's happening? Why is this happening? WHY?"
Shinji was brought before Gendo.
"Shinji. We need you to pilot Unit 01."
"I won't do it!"
"Would yu rather we use the dummy plug?"
"Dummy plug?? The dummy plug.... no! Don't do that!"
"Rei has been killed. Asuka has a synch rating of 0. You are the only pilot left."
"AYANAMI IS DEAD???"
"Correct."
"God dammit..... DAMMIT!"
Shinji sat inside Unit 01. "I never wanted this to happen again...... why am I back here? Why do I pilot Unit 01??? WHY???"
