I pawed the ground with a blackened hoof, snorting impatiently for the giant man who had promised to be here. One of my herd felt the vibrations in the ground emanating from the direction of the big-man's house and I rearranged my inky black wings against my back impatiently. The enticing scent of festering meat hit my nose and I trotted closer to the now visible bulk of the half-giant, but backed away quickly when I saw the raucous crowd of children behind him. I was not expecting this many children, but no matter, few if any would be able to see us. I started violently when one of the children turned pale while his small face drawn in horror. He gesticulated wildly and seemed to cause a mild panic in the group of children surrounding him. It surprised me to see that this undersized runt with his untamed black hair and waifish appearance had once witnessed death. As I stood locked in place pondering, staring at the boy with my cold, dead opaque eyes, the rest of my skeletal herd moved forwards to engorge themselves on the rotting carcass the giant had provided.
